Ah this video is a lifesaver! I can’t afford to buy a load of mica powder but I’ve got soooo many eyeshadows that I don’t use!!

Dollar tree in the US has tons of different loose pigment eyeshadows that are literally exactly the same as mica (it is mica and some other things,) and you get a LOT more than you do when you buy "normal" mica. It's been so fun to experiment cheaply lol! FYI: crushing it up finely is super important if you use the potted stuff.
We must protect this man at all costs. He is just precious
Idk if anyone noticed but eyeshadow looks like it gives better all around even color it's an amazing effect!
I have also used eyeshadow to “paint” my molds before adding resin. I like them both for different effects. By the way your makeup was great!!!

Great idea for keep the cost down when experimenting
Really like the fact that you're not afraid to experiment. Good results too.
I personally enjoy makeups more than mica. My favorite so far has been chrome nail art powder.

Have to thank my daughter for turning me on to this idea! Thanks to you too!
Steve, I love your sense of humour. You always make me laugh X.
Could you also do a make-up tutorial? I would love to achieve your look! LOL!!!!
This answers my questions about using makeup for resin! I have some colors I never use on my eyes but that would look great in resin! Thank you for making this video!
Omg the part with you actually Wearing the eyeshadow. 😂😂😂😂
This has been my secret for awhile. I use eyeshadow in my slimes and resin. It's already around, I'm not going to miss it and it works wonderfully.
if the eye shadow contains come sort of cream or something, u can mix it with alchole isopropanol 95% or more, to make it smooth and less lumbsy before adding it to the resin
I used a shimmery copper last year and it looked amazing! Maybe try specifically shimmer shadows next time. :)
Just started doing resin art and instead of using expensive materials to start I use eyeshadows and nail polish working great so far. Made over 50 so tumblers but geodes and bowls are something that is trial and error but I think I’ve got it. You brighten my day. love your demeanor and positive attitude you honestly just cracked me up. You have a wonderful and blessed day and just keep up the good work love your work and love the nail polish on the silicone haven’t tried that so we have to do that this morning have a wonderful week wonderful day wonderful year sweetheart.

I love this!! They turned out better than I thought honestly! I love the pearlized effect of the mica powder, but I do the think eyeshadow worked beautifully!
Sometimes you just want a colour thats opaque, instead of buying dedicated opaque pigments these work just as well! Would be interesting to see if some of the shimmer eye make up powders work just like mica powder!
Hi Steve 👋 I absolutely love watching your videos 👍 they have great hints and tips 👍 Thank you so much for sharing your findings. So glad I subscribed to your channel 🙏
Great experiment!!
They came out so pretty. I also use different ones too
The yellow eyeshadow color was brilliant, and I appreciate this video, I have a ton of old powder eyeshadow that I don't wanna get rid of but I don't use anymore, so BAM, new plan!
As a hobbyist cake maker, I have tons of lustre dusts and edible tints which also work perfectly. I've also coloured my moulds before pouring the resin in and the results have been fantastic, no transfer when cured either. They are so so cheap to buy too.
Hi, complete resin newbie. Just wanted to say thank you for your wonderful hints and tips 💖 I finished my first more intricate project last night and thanks to you it has been a success 💖
Thanks steve very interesting,
Thank you for sharing I tried eye shadow and loved the turn out. I just started using resin.
I have learned so much! Thank you for sharing your beautiful work 🤗
It works really well
Thank you Bless you :)
I'm a resin newbie, just finished my second session working with it. I'm glad I found your videos along with a few other great channels so I was able to start off with a respirator and lots of other good stuff I need. I just used both mica and eyeshadow in my pour today for a succulent. I also put in foil glitters and tried to keep it somewhat translucent to see the glitters through the resin. Can't wait to unmold tomorrow! The hardest part, waiting!!
My daughter is a makeup fiend, and she recently gave me a stack of makeup palettes from which she had used up the colors she liked and didn't want the rest. Some of them are actually fairly expensive palettes, known for being highly pigmented, so I'm looking forward to trying them in resin as well as in my regular acrylic pouring medium. Thanks for the heads up about this option! :) Blessings!

Ty for doing this test Steve, very insightful. I love lemon curd but I'm an older subscriber so there you are!
I will be trying eye shadow now as well..
Good to know!
I absolutely love that u wore the eyeshadow! Your videos are quite entertaining... I saw a lot of videos about eyeshadow in resin when I 1st started. My experience w eye shadow is that it isn't nearly as smooth and even as mica powder... sadly I now have a lot of eyeshadow and nothing to do with it (with no where fun to go to wear it)... thankfully it was VERY cheap...

Good to know , I did buy some metallic eye shadow the other day , and they have turned out fab
I figured it would work u make eyeshadow with micas..thanks for the shafe
Thanks
Hey Steve, just found your videos yesterday. I could explain a lot to you about eyeshadow that may help in buying for certain effects.
Love you’re experimenting I now know I can use eye shadow chalk acrylic paints and edible micro powder!
I have a ton of loose (not compacted) eyeshadow that I use to make my own color acrylics for my nails. This is gonna b fun
Thank you for the experiment of Mica versus eye shadow. I want to check out glitter eye shadow. Thank you Steve😊
As newly staring our resin journey , wow your amazing, thank you so much , I have so many eyeshadows , did not imagine could use them , perfect 😍, also we got silicone mat and the silicon pots and stirs , so so please followed you advice , x
Lol, you caught me off guard. I laughed so hard!
I love using the color shifting eyeshadows/super metallic shadows to coat my molds before pouring clear in. It leaves a beautiful coat on the outside of the item im casting.
Just found your channel! I love you! Omg .. great info and personality 🥰
I have also used artistic chalk sticks. I just use a blade to "shave" the chalk into the resin.
Looking so very lovely friend! lol I enjoy your videos so very much, you have fun and you explain things very nicely. I appreciate that you include when things don’t necessarily go perfectly the first time and that when you don’t know the answer, you say so and then figure it out! ✨💖✨ Best of all, you make me laugh, you make me smile and you make my day!
I have used eyeshadow in some of my resin pieces.
hahahahaha - I hav Eno words! lol I do actually, thats great Steve, sometimes I want a different effect to mica, and was wondering about opaque pigments - ill give this a go now :-) x
Way prettier 😍
A small mortar and pestle can help crush things like eyeshadow if anyone plans on using it often for craft applications. Porcelain or stainless would be a good choice for ease of cleaning. Also, the vibrancy of color will vary by brand. Some of the cheap eyeshadows don’t have the same quality of pigmentation as better types. (Eyeshadow usually has a base of kaolin clay , talc, or mica. The mica versions are probably best for use with resin since they are less likely to react strangely)
This is fabulous 🤩 now I know that I can use eyeshadow with resin, I've got plenty of eyeshadow to finally get rid of! I have some that shine and change colour so they'll be interesting pieces. Thank you!
thanks for this.... im gona hit up the pound shop for the cheapest eyeshadows
Thank you! And eye shadows at dollar tree are only $1!!!

Hey Steve 👋, I love watching your experience 😊!! When I am in a better situation myself I will definitely be buying you a coffee ☕!! Now I haven't had time to read your other commentz to know if someone else haz already told you thiz, but if you let the eyeshadow set for a few minutez while you get your other resin stuff ready THEN stir it one more time, you will see it dissolvez && blendz more 😊. I love using eyeshadow in my resin work. Can't wait to see your next experiment!!!!!
This is amazing! Im looking for a color that doesn't give off the metallic color and I have tons of eyeshadow.
I love this video! I have an eye shadow pallet that has beautiful bright colors but they're not colors I would wear. I'd been wondering if I should try using it to color resin. One jar of mica powder cost more than the whole pallette. Thanks for doing this video, it's given me the confidence to go for it!
I've been using eye shadow for a few years. Makeup is nothing but powdered pigment aka mica powder, and other ingredients mixed to liquid state or compressed cakes. I use powdered eye shadow for tinting resin, and use the cake pallets to use w. Small brushes for detail coloring. Works like a charm everytime.
I used it with great success
I use eyeshadow in both resin and acrylic pours. The key is using a pestle and mortar to grind it up into a fine powder. So, a couple minutes of grinding and it takes care of clumping.
Nice long cats’ eye technique! Bold! If you do decide to start wearing eye shadow, you’ll do well. 😉 This is helpful as I have some eye shadows that I won’t use otherwise! Thanks for making this video!!
As always a wonderful video! You own more eyeshadow than I do 😂😂😂 😘
I use car kit paint...the tiny paints thats used to paint those little cars you build from a box. Best ever!
Love your eye shadow! Lol
Eye shadow and mica are the same but eye shadow is pressed into those little containers by machine. Sometimes you can find loose eyeshadow on little things like mica. You can also use blush if you find a color you want at the dollar store. Sometimes they have great shades of pink. It also works great.
Epic !,
Wonderful comparison. I can save money coz I hv unused eyeshadow ;)
The mica powders in makeup is kinda the same as what’s used in makeup. The grade just has to do with how finely the powders are ground. Great video!
It might be worth trying a duo chrome or iridescent eyeshadow or nail art powder That’s where I imagine it’d really shine, excuse the pun

Oh thank you for this suggestion! I bought some loose duochromes that I just don't like on me, resin will be such a great use for them!
I tried loose eyeshadow and the nail powder and it came out beautifully. Some cheap stuff I got from a dollar store I did add 1 drop of color amd about a pinky nail size amout of powder for the eyeshadow the nail powder i used a bit less but the shimmer looks like a very thin glitter I think I figured out how to make thin sparkle instead of using actual glitter. Btw eyeshadow looks great on you!
Peter Brown has a channel where he does woodturning and he uses a lot of resin in his projects... He has done a whole series of experiments on using various household items as pigments for resin...Some with great sucess and others have been epic failures.... With the eyeshadow, he used a mortar and pestle to crush it to a fine enough powder so that is dispersed properly through the resin with no lumps...
I subscribed because you put the eyeshadow on 😂
Ugh omg I just LOVE this type of accent lol . Really good and helpful video
