The Comms officer is the most scariest boss, I have to say. The thought of trying to help someone, but then helping someone does not reward you with even the slight feeling of completion, but instead being attacked by whom you just helped.

@@SSJdavey so, I played re revelations 2 and it was pretty good. I still prefer this one simply because of the good memories i had and i liked the bosses more. I have also played 4,5,6 and 6 was my favourite out of the three. 4 had cancerous controls and 5 didn't even feel like re. Ive also seen walk throughs of 2 +3 (remasterd) and 7, which were all decent. My ranking would be : 1 - re revelations 2 - re revelations 2 3 - re3 (remake) (sorry but i cant deal with the original🤣) 4 - re 2 (remake) 5 - re 7 6 - re 6 Then the rest in random order. Also theyre making re revelations 3 apparently and a series on netflix not to mention re village. Life is good for re fans🤣👌

Man, I remember picking this game up on a bargain sale off Amazon just before I went on holiday. Decided to play it one night (3DS) and was absolutely hooked/blown away, it looked phenomenal for a handheld title and the gameplay was SO good, plus the story was enthralling, enjoyed every minute of it! I'll admit I've definitely forgotten about the scanning mechanic and that seems like a chore, but I wanted to revisit it and get a little refresher so, thanks for the vid!

I wish I had played it on the 3DS back in the day, it would have blown my mind. The scanning gimmick sucks on console but on the 3DS it's probably more palatable. Glad you enjoyed the video 👍

I played this both on the 3DS when it came out and the HD rerelease on xbox one. Honestly felt better as a portable console game.

Definitely S tier in my opinion, I love it and would play it again and again. It does hold up and I would recommend it especially to newcomers.

You're part of a very small minority that would. It's a mess on every level: Technically, gameplay wise, control wise, basically every conceivable part of the game is fundamentally flawed, and the worst part is: It's an action-shooter game that's not a good action-shooter on any level. I can think of a number of games in that genre that are better: Evil West, Gungrave, Vanquish, hell, even Devils Third and Wanted Dead I would argue are better on every level. The only thing RE6 has that isn't awful is the graphics, which if I'm being honest, besides the character models, RE6 does not hold up at all. Especially the 360, PS3, and Switch versions, which have terrible textures, a low ass resolution, and tons of performance issues, and a lot of the environmental modeling looks straight up identical to RE: REV 1 in quality. So even that sucks unless you play the PS4, Xbox One, or PC versions.

Really enjoyed this game! Way underrated. Pacing is weird on a console but it was gangbusters on 3DS! (Designed for on-the-go Resi) Glad u dug it despite that! Could've used more enemy variety, only so many sludge monsters I can take 😆

Yea I completely agree I played RE Revelations first on Xbox One and thought it was meh but I later got it on 3ds after I got a 2ds and enjoyed it much much more it fit great on the 3ds

This game is still probably my favorite resident evil and it’s definitely worth your time it’s aged extremely well and I still adore the gameplay, it’s even better with pc mods, I still love the graphics but I wouldn’t mind a remaster

Yes it is . This was originally on the Nintendo 3ds and it was so good that they ported it to all consoles. I loved it on my 3ds and I just started playing it on my switch .... damn it's so fun .

First RE game I ever played and still enjoy it, especially with all of the new weapons and things to find, unlock, and use in co-op games.

I used to find the scanning aspect a little annoying over time until a friend of mine started playing and noticed that there's a little dot that shines if there's an item you can reach without having to move (just looking around). That means you can just bring up the genesis for a second without having to move the camera around all the time and made it a lot more bearable for me

This was the first resident evil game I ever played.... I have many thanks to give to this game since if I didn't play it I wouldn't have become familiar with the series and wouldn't have played resident evil 7 which is one of my favorite survival horror games of all time

I really love the face Model of Jill in RE3 Remake(Sasha Zotova) because it resembles her looks in the old RE PS1 game but Julia Voth looks hot as Jill in long hair like this in RE Rev and the Blonde Long hair in RE5 it suits her face more. Short Hair Jill = Sasha, Long Hair Jill = Julia.

This game saved my life....no really. I had back surgery that went bit badly and ended up with spinal fluid leak. I had two more surgeries in following two months. I had to lay perfectly flat pretty much all the time for months. I got a 3ds and this was the game that took me by so much surprise. How did it look so good? How is it this much better than RE5 and 6. It was really the 3ds in general that saved my sanity during this time, but RE revelations played the largest part. I wish you had done the 3ds version. It's visuals are just absolutely impossibly good for 3ds, nothing else comes close. The RE merc 3d game and MGS snake eater and a single man indie developed eShop survival horror "silver falls 3 down stars" (some VERY specific areas, namely the motel rooms, as it's extremely unbalanced and hilariously indie in it's graphical quality consistency) being only worthy mentions that come anywhere close

I can imagine how helpful a handheld like the 3ds would be going through that, sorry to hear that happened to you but I'm glad you found a way to cope and get through it ❤️ I normally go for whichever port is the most convenient for me but I am tempted to replay it on a 3ds just for myself!

I was so hyped for the 3ds release, played the demo in Mercenaries 3d (on cartridge it included a 'pilot version') and later the real eshop demo hundreds of times, and played hundreds of hours on the final 3ds release, which was and will always be one of the most amazing games on that system, with the best 3d. Later played it on Wii U and Switch, had some good upgrades, but it felt way less amazing. Yesterday played it on 3ds again, it's by far still my favourite version, and I still know it by muscle memory and heart.

@@SSJdavey They really went all in with that version, and on the small screen with 3d to the maximum (with settings in the options to increase it even more), and gyro aiming on a new 3ds with better 3d adaptation, it really is the best showcase for what the 3ds can do. You can even switch between sort-of first person and over the shoulder aiming, the online was incredible and the looting and street pass, although mostly dead now, were really incredible as well. It even used play coins in the store, the 'currency' every game could use, and you got by walking with your 3ds in sleep mode for street pass. I miss that feature, actually.

Just played through this for the first time. There are some things I love and some things I really hate. The levels outside of the ship are boring as shit and throw way too many enemies at you at once. Who thought having you fight a dozen wolves and hunters at the same time was a good idea? The swimming segments really outstayed their welcome as well. I'm glad we got a full game with Jill, but overall, Revelations is one of the weaker entries in the franchise for me. I'd give it about a 7/10

@@SSJdavey Yeah I certainly didn't dislike Revelations! It just has some incredibly irritating elements. I haven't played any of the weird offshoot games like Gaiden and don't ever plan to. Of what I have played, Revelations is down at the bottom with 6 (though I don't dislike 6 either and actually find it to be more fun than Revelations).

Great video man. Keep going. I’m someone who’s familiarity with RE went as far as watching all the films and casually playing 5 back in the day. Recently though I’ve been on an RE spree after picking up 7 and loving it. Thanks to a well timed sale I picked up almost all the games and have been working through them chronologically. I just finished revelations and I really enjoyed it. As someone who’s been on a few cruise ships, I’ve always thought it would be a perfect place for a horror experience to happen. This might be blasphemy but I might even say I like Revelations better than 4. I disagree slightly with your take on the bosses as the game progresses. The final boss wrecked me and I loved it’s design. Very cool. Well, now it’s on to revelations 2

I love a cruise its been a few years since I've been on one now but my mind always goes to uncharted 3 and running through the halls while a torrent of water chases me. Probably not the best thought when I'm trying to relax tbh 😆 Glad you enjoyed the video, enjoy Rev2 I loved it

I bought this game on 3DS when I was 12, the boss Rachel ooze really freaked me out. the boat was intriguing, some areas were scary others reassuring (like the hall). I had always wondered how the crew of the boat reacted to the infection, but in my humble opinion, when infected can move in the air ducts and move everywhere,I think there are still a few survivors after 2 days, like the signal officer or like the body stuck in the air vent and the bodies on the ground at the start of the game, They must have been the only ones to reach the exit but unfortunately oozes trapped them. I think it took 10 days maximum for the crew of the boat to be decimated

Yeah I can see it being quick, the oozes are literally everywhere. I know I'd have taken my chances in the water rather than stay on the boat!

I’m 28 and never played RE as a kid. I stopped gaming in 2010 or so and missed the entire seventh and eighth generation until 2019, when I bought a 3DS and Switch. I played this on 3DS with RE4 concurrently on Switch. Flash forward to 2021 and I’m playing these again now on PS4 haha

Not a bad place to start the series 👌 I've never taken a long break from gaming but I imagine it's handy to be able to cherry pick your games from the entire generation of a console, with all the knowledge on what's collectively known to be great

100% it's one of those gimmicks that was obviously built into its 3DS release 🤷‍♂️

For me both Revelation 1 and 2 have much replay value because of theyre different challenges and achiements in theyre champaings and of course the raid mode both games have. I think they both are on a high quality just like the nain title.

I finished it for the first time today. There is some good stuff as well as some bad or questionable stuff in this game, but the gameplay is fine and I think that's what matters most in the end. (Although the dodge mechanic is an enigma that seems to only work when it wants to, sometimes needing me to press the button and sometimes not.) I think having concurrent storylines focusing on different characters in different settings was a great opportunity to keep the action and horror focused segments separate, but they did not fully seize that opportunity.

I found the dodge mechanic worked perfectly, but then again after playing RE3 on ps1 any dodge system feels revolutionary 😆 I completely agree with you, having the split between different characters and the style of gameplay would have been smart especially when it goes back in time to show the events of the city outbreak but it never quite achieved that goal

I love that you can earn a trophy if you kill rachael before getting to the cafeteria. I dont know why I liked that in particular but I think it's awesome.

I have resident evil relevations 2 and like it. How does the revelations 1 stack up? Is the story better?

I know that this is really late and I have seen things on the controls for most of the review videos because I'm thinking of purchasing again for ps4 for completionist need but if you want classic controls like tank and not being able to shoot play it on the 3ds where it's really makes the game more terrifying.

I have a doubt when I try this game on my friend PS3 back in 2014 (especially after RE6), but god damn I was wrong, a few days later I see this game got sale on steam and what a great experience. I must say, this game is how to appeal to both RE Action fans and Horror fans. While RE6 try so hard to appeal to all fans by spliting the campaign by genre (Leon: Horror, Chris dan Jake: Action, and Ada: Puzzle), Revelations give us a proof that Capcom doesn't really need big budget campaign story they just need a one solid balance between fun action gameplay, intimidating horror atmospheric and Presentation.

As a classic fan of the series i enjoyed the old school parts of the game quite a lot...there are a couple of pure action levels that are boring, but otherwise its a pretty good mix of old and new. I didnt mind the scan gimmick, im a Metroid Prime fanatic so it kinda felt unoriginal if anything, but i liked it. The graphics are insane for the 3DS, dont know what kind of black magic Capcom pulled off, the game is more enjoyable in 3D aswell, very good 3D in fact. Graphics 10/10 Sound 9/10 Gameplay 8/10 Longevity 9/10 For me the game is 9/10, specially for being a 3DS game. The online multiplier was also very enjoyable, even tho i still like RE3D more for online.

I have a very good memory of this game, m'y first 3ds game, i played it at night for the ambiance and i fully agree for the two first bosses what a Real stressfull horror moment each. And also the game on 3ds looked less light and more dark in the hallways. And i had the chance to play coop mod with m'y brother with a Real difficulty and many enemies, what a good time even if the game isnt perfect at all.

Honestly, I think it's great still. It's underrated and underappreciated. I love that it's heavy on the fighting, but not too crazy like RE5. It's a great streamline RE experience w a little more guidance and sections with a little more linearity, but they made great use of the assets they had, and made a lot of good scenarios moving through different setups. Lots of good sections where you play a pair of side characters that make new game+ still very challenging. You aren't gonna cheese your way through Inferno. Honestly, if someone wasn't into Resident Evil, but they were thinking about trying the games, I would tell them to pick this one up, it's a great introduction. Revelations 2 kinda sucked balls tho, too many instakill moments, wimpy characters, and last of us 2 player environmental progression w banter, NO THANK YOU. Played more like the Evil Within, it had a real identity crisis. Revelations is great though, I was glad to see it on PC so it can be properly destroyed due to the ability to aim well. It adds a new layer of difficulty playing it on the original hardware or controller in general. And honestly, it's crazy to think that it was designed for the 3DS for goodness sake, that's awesome. Think about it. Drop your preconceived notions of what a Resident Evil game should be, and appreciate what it does well! it's such a great hybrid, streamlined RE game w a little handholding and guidance, but some exploration still, and they don't draw a line to where to go or anything. I think it's a great entry. I freaking love it. Raid mode aint half bad either. I hope someone will play with me on wii u in 2024😂🤣😂🤣🙃

I totally skip the cutscenes and story, but loosely, loosely follow a little of it from gameplay events, and notes. LOL. All about that sweet sweet gameplay baby!

The extra modes aren't my cup of tea so I havnt tried it. Loads of people have commented on here saying how good the raid mode is, so there must be something worth looking at there! Hope you enjoy it 👍

Played this game for the first time when I was marathoning resident evil in the months leading up to the release of village and it was scary for my first time. I do however prefer the second over this one.

The bosses for me are one of the best things about the game, could be as simple as the dodge button being so awesome in this one! What frustrated you? Was it the difficulty spikes? It's not balanced in anyway, early bosses are solid compared to later ones

My first and favorite resident evil revelations played on the Xbox 360, I love the revelations saga, I played revelations 2 as well. I think they should give this formula another shot maybe with a resident evil revelations 3 to try to combine once again action and horror but better, since till this day Capcom flops with Resident evil 7 and 8, too much action.

When I was 14 I shat my pants off and back on because of this game. This game to me had the perfect combination between tension build-up and jump scares. Around every single corner in those small dark corridors and rooms an ooze monster could be lurking, knowing that made it so extremely tense to go anywhere and whenever you encountered one it was straight in your face.

@@SSJdavey Yeah lol, when you come near the office of the coms officer, you hear this banging sound, I was so terrified back then that I stopped going forward for 15 minutes, doubting whether or not I should just shut off the game. Rachel chasing me down the first time was already bad enough, the second time I was not even expecting her and she came at me from around a corner. The fact I can remember this vividly after 9 years says enough.

I played this game on the 3ds, you have to use the face buttons to aim, but I still think it was super fun and a well constructed game on the 3ds. I enjoyed my 10.5 hrs with the game and would definitely play it again

I enjoyed Revelations on its own, but what really got me was playing it again on Infernal mode. Holy hell....it is some of the most fun I have had in an RE game, and that difficulty alone turned it into one of my favorite RE titles. I don't want to come off sounding "elitist" over something as dumb as a videogame difficulty setting, but playing this game on Infernal truly feels like the "definitive" version. Also recaptures a lot more of that tension, since every bullet means that much more, every weapon upgrade is a slight increase to your odds of survival. Plus it operates as an "arrange mode" similar to Director's Cut, so items may be found in different locations, enemy placement is completely different, and there are absolute mobs of enemies in areas that were previously safe. It really scratches that "survival" itch.

My favorite 3DS gane and one of my favorite Resident Evil games.

Actually, yes it does. And there’s still quite the community (myself) who still play it today. Pretty good campaign. Some good and some crappy characters. Interesting enemies and strong bosses, and arguably the strongest final boss in the series. And then there’s raid mode. Raid mode is an amazing grind, though the RNG will drive you nuts. Revelations 1 is a great, yet underrated gem, Big fan.

I'm replaying Dead Space trilogy cuz I never got to play 3 and ironically It made want to check this resident evil out that i too never played. This looks like it is Dead Space, right down to aiming, walking, weapon upgrades and the map being frustrating as hell to get a good angle to view. But Dead space does make you have to keep track of your ammo and you have power nods that up grade your weapons, but you can gamble with them by using them to unlock specific doors. You may get new weapon blueprint or just ammo. Iv reloaded a few times already cuz I felt I used to much ammo or needed to make a different upgrade. Im definitely gonna play this Res but it lacking just those 2 features takes some of the strategy out of it.. and a little fun.

Dead Space giving you low ammo? What? I don't remember running out even on the hardest difficulty. Then again I only played 1 on hardest. Only played 2 once. Didn't even finish 3

I can’t decide if I like or dislike this game. It does so many things that piss me off… and yet, the first thing I did after beating it was go straight to NG+. Anyway, it’s worth mentioning how phenomenal its OST is. It’s one of my favorite scores in the whole franchise, and a far more intricate composition than what you’d expect from a handheld title.

I remember this being the 1st resident evil game i played (when i was 9) i didnt even know it was a bloody horror game I screamed the moment the first zombie attacked and was too scared to play afterwards but a few years later, I have fun playing revelations 2 and RE 6 with my sis, and played code veronica on my dad's PS2 (tho the disc got destroyed by my little brother....) And now when revelations 1 goes on sale for $9, I'm definitely gonna try and complete it A shame that rev 1 doesnt have co op despite having 2 active characters together sometimes but it is what it is

One thing I like to point out with the 3DS Version of the game is that you need the second analog stick for camera control otherwise it would just ruin the 3-D effect

Game is good. Boss fights are guite interesting and cleverly done, I really liked ship setting and combat is solid third person over the shoulder shooter fare.

Just bought this on my 3ds before the shop closes

It was great on the switch, but I like Rev 2 better, 1 didn't have a decent variety of enemies and raid doesn't have as much content. Playing as Jill again was the highlight.

Come Back after 8 Years and playing Raid Mode in PC to 50 and now the better PS4 Version to 50. You can pick it at a Low Price and it needs some Skills to Finish the Game and play the Endgame Content in Raid, i Love this Game so much. Better than Rev. 2 for me.

Resident Evil Revelations factoids: • The game had several tentative titles: "Lost in the Abyss", "Dead Cruise". • Producer Kawata first got the idea for Revelations when he learned that a handheld with 3D capabilities was in development by Nintendo. He wanted to create a Resident Evil game that used that feature. • They started out with porting a stage from RE5 to the 3DS for testing. And once they saw that it was running well, they decided to turn that stage into a full game: Resident Evil: The Mercenaries 3D. • The E3 demo that shows Chris and Jill aboard a cruise ship, was merely a tech demo designed to showcase what they could do with the newly released 3DS handheld. What they had learned from having worked on The Mercenaries 3D on the 3DS. They were still working on the script for the game. And that is why things changed in the final product. • The original idea for the plot had the Queen Zenobia reach a port after a viral infection hits the vessel. And the story continues on land. But the producers changed their mind and thought that they needed to keep the concept of being isolated intact. Where you have no way to escape. So most of the action took place in the sea. You can still find sections of the port area in the final game, tho. It's the section where Jill and Parker have to scan corpses that look like fat blobs of flesh. That was supposed to be the port. And you have to climb up to a path that leads to a town. That you can still see in the background. • The story of the game was set up in 12 chapters. They adopted an episodic format similar to a Telltale game. However, they never considered releasing each episode separately. But having the game divided in episodes was seen as something that worked well for a portable device where players played for short amounts of time (unlike happens with home console games). And that is why each episode begins with "Previously on Resident Evil Revelations". To remind players what had happened during their last gaming session. With Revelations 2, Capcom revisited the idea of episodic format. But with that game, they decided to adopt Telltale's episodic distribution model. They were hoping that people would discuss the game between episodes on forums. To get other people interested into playing the game. • The game was going to take place entirely on the Queen Zenobia, in order to maintain the being isolated factor. But the devs introduced new locations to avoid having the player get bored with playing on the same stages on every single episode. Variety was seen as a plus. • Raid Mode was originally not planned to be added to the final game. Because the original game had online co-op capabilities. Like in RE5. However, when it was decided to turn the game into a single player campaign, the producers thought that they should find a way to reuse the co-op game play in the game. And that's how they came up with Raid Mode. Where you play entire sections of the main game with another player. • Revelations was the 1st game of the series to feature Japanese voice work. • Revelations Producer, Kawata, was so happy with the end result that he wished that he could've made the game part of the main numerical series instead of it being a spinoff. It's still canon, tho.

This was more impressive on the 3DS. Considering it was originally an exclusive for it, it was more impressive as a handheld. Consoles, not so much. However, they did include some extras and had a more stable raid mode.

I loved revelations, it gives a different vibe especially since throughout the campaign 50 percent of the time you're by urself and 100 percent of the time ur partner is useless and does no damage. And the enemies prioritizes u only

Yeah I love this game but I super agree it falls off about the mid point or the last bit. Though its games like this that Im surprised RE4 never got ported to the 3DS. But to be fair this is mostly a indoor game.

Anyone having cutscene lag? The audio and the subtitles run just fine, but the video lag makes it desync.

Meanwhile, me - who has replayed this twice and never even thought about using the rifle for anything ever - Also, I find the atmosphere greater with the camera behind the back. I just dont feel anything from fixed camera angles. It's like I'm watching them from a TV instead of being there with them

Give the rifle a try its absolutely busted! With the 3rd person camera I can see that rationale, I think for me it's what you don't see with fixed cameras that heightens that tension. It's all personal preference though 🤷‍♂️

yeah, the map... I just always tried to memorize every way possible, at least around he general areas... which I failed at miserably, but I was too stupid for reading the map, so... no other choice :'D

resident evil revelations is my first game and i played it through in 2 Days and i was shocked how good it was it really hooked me got addicted on the nintendo switch. lets go to re revelations 2 and 6

The first time I played Revelations I found it effectively scary. The problem with Revelations is the same problem EVERY HORROR GAME has, after you beat it, it gets less scary with repeated playthroughs. That’s why you get morons saying RE4 isn’t horror, no it IS horror it’s just been played over and over for the past 16 years and you know what to expect

You're right with horror games losing their scares the more you replay them, I suppose the great ones can still capture that same feeling of apprehension as you know what's coming but doubt your ability to handle it (due to resources)

It might end up being really difficult without the upgrades, if it gets tough at least you can add them on - no harm done 👍

Does it hold up? Hell yeah, the main character is Jill that alone makes it worth to play and she is in wet suit, makes it double worth it. Okay jokes aside I really like this game, it is my favorite among the over the shoulder RE games. Considering this was a handheld budget title, they did an impressive job. I really pissed when they annonced this fresh looking game for 3DS exclusive and they gave us RE6. Capcom really slow to learn, this game is obviviously for classic fans, why are you limiting your audience. Thank god they figured earlier this time (compared to RE Remake). I played on PS4 and still playing thanks to addictive Raid mode. Now speaking for the game. Story is a little confusing, I remember first trailer Jill and Chris pointed gun eachother near the msyterious figure (Big theory was, he is HUNK). I wish to know what was their original plot. Story is okay i guess. At least we finally saw a bioterrorizm plot after so many games. Gameplay and atmosphere are amazing and biggest selling point for me. Finally no tank controls in action heavy RE game. If you are gonne make action focus RE, don't restrict with tank controls, it was RE5's mistake. Atmosphere is the what I exactly wanted. Ghost ship setting is perfect setting, it is what I couldn't find in RE4 and RE5, sadly they couldn't make this atmosphere in RE6. My critisism is other places are not as interesting as Ghost ship. They fixed QTEs, that is how you should do QTEs (and they screwed really hard after that). For characters, Jill is amazing (she is my favorite character), Chris is good. Can you belive it they finally became partners since RE1 and it was only last two chapter, why Capcom? I liked Parker but I wish they made more stand alone parts. An AI partner kinda ruin thrill element. Jessica and Raymond are interesting character, I wanna know more about them (But Capcom probably forget them). Comedic duo sucks, they are forgettable characters and they have no place in the game. For bosses, first two are top notch. Everything is amazing, build up, tension handeled incredibly. Comm Officer is really difficult for early encounter and I admit I used cheap tactic after frustration but still I like it. Rachel is easy boss compared to Comm Officer but her build up is amazing, despite being easy she is one of the best bosses in RE series. Later bosses are sadly not impressive and helicopter fight is straight up boring. But final is really good. Norman is toughest boss I've ever encountered in RE series. Great and fitting final for the game. Musics are good, I especially like main theme and final boss theme. RE Revelation is a good game and a good RE game as well. This game has good balance between action and horror, it lost its balance after halfway but still good (thanks to final). All that critisism about main characters are too powerful, you can't make survival with them, you should only make action, it just proved all of them wrong. With right setting you can do it. Capcom should make more revelations games, RE has rich characters and lore, just use them for this kind of side games.

Its sequel, Resident Evil: Revelations 2, actually has nothing to do with this game story-wise, it is however connected by its tone and structure. Both Revelations games take place between two main entries, they both follow an episodic structure, they both harken back to the series' survival-horror roots, and they both feature an arcade style "Raid Mode" unique to this sub-series. Takes place between the events of Resident Evil 4 and 5.

Good memories playing it but completely forgot that stupid scanner😂

I'm still fairly new to the RE series, having only played about 4-5 titles so far, but this one is definitely one of my favorites - right up there with the RE1 Remake. The atmosphere on the ship is absolutely eerie and it's one of the places the sound design really shines. (The unsettling 'maaaaydaaay' from the Comms officer is an excellent example - as you brought up in the video.) I'd have to slightly disagree with your opinion about none of the music tracks being a standout, though, as I find the music that plays when you first enter the Promenade Hall (where Parker makes the opera house comment) to be a fantastic piece and one I personally enjoy - but to each their own! Great review, btw, it was nice to hear someone else's thoughts on this game!

Don't you get access to infernal right off the bat? It's a great way to experience this game first time for veteran fans.

My controversial opinion is that Revelations 1 would've been a RE4 better than RE4. Let me explain before y'all jump at me. IMO it's just that Revelations 1 still has the level design (big closed space) with a lot of backtracking, puzzles and horror but it also has the changes RE4 made that revolutionized gaming at the time. I think Rev 1 is a smoother transition from oldschool tank controls survival horror to over the shoulder "horror/action" gameplay than 4. That said.. the older I get the more my feelings for RE4 get lukewarm.. I firmly believe that you can throw RE4, 5 and Revelations into a pile, shuffle them and the first one to come out of the pile would get to be 4, it would get incredible praise for how it moved game design forward. The other two would get bashed to smithereens. I say this because man... after the village RE4 just goes downhill as a RE game. The castle part is very over the top, Salazar's goofy design made that entire act more like a horror/comedy like Evil Dead than true horror. The last parts of the game are straight up shooting galleries where you fight dudes wielding gatling guns and whatnot. The game definitely has some memorable horror moments like the first Dr Salvador encounter, the first Garrador, both Salazar's bodyguards (Verdugos?), that monster on the falling platforms and of course, the Regenerators. And yes, I do expect RE Village to be very over the top much like RE4 but I mean.. I'm going with high expectations for an excellent game but with low expectations for an RE game.

This game is FANTASTIC! I have only TWO gripes.. The dodge button is broken as HELL! and that duo the nerdy computer guy and his companion are GARBAGE! the voice acting from that one guy is awful... and the dodge mechanic can make the last boss a pain.. But apart from that it's a truly great game in need of a remake in my opinion the ship location is amazing and the t abyss virus is really cool water zombies are actually a pretty decent concept... its different but this games theme of water and being set on a ship just works.. recently gave this game ago and I'm glad I did.. but yeah I feel this game NEEDS a remake.. nothing to drastically different just a tad longer.. remove those annoying characters or at least fix the voice acting and either change or remove the dodge mechanic and it's good to go

I LOVED the dodge mechanic in this entry, especially compared to RE3 Nemesis (ps1) but your 100% right they need to go back to basics on those 2 characters and write them out of existence or just radically change them. They are horrendous

Great, now this makes me want nothing more than a definitive edition for the New 3DS with dual stick controls, all the extra content, and a way to kill off those damn Sea Creepers. Piss luck to ever getting modern Nintendo to get that going, though...

Wow, was it intricate in the “revelations”. At one point, an agent (actually double agent, or triple agent) asks questions: how did they keep this huge Ocean liner hidden in the Mediterranean (actually 2). Why now? Who? Well they don’t really answer. Who, kind of: a bad guy, a mostly bad guy, or the good guy who did something bad, … I think. But how cloak 2 ocean liners… they don’t say. Why now seems to imply that they had them hidden a while, I dunno where, in that James Bond movie with the cloaked ship??? But it does have character twists that were fun if not perplexing. Great game tho.

I think most agree with you on that one, for me the weapon upgrades and scanner are too detrimental for me to put it ahead of its sequel
