The Mediocre Journey Of Supercop | Resident Evil 3 Remake

Ойындар

Resident Evil 3 Remake falls well short of the original title and the RE2 Remake.
While the Resident Evil 2 remake was a (for the most part) faithful adaptation of the original in regards to the major beats, Resident Evil 3 Remake deviates away from its source. Resident Evil 3 remake feels like a rush job that cut many of the unique features that made the original 1999 title stand out from its predecessors.

RE2 remake did have some noticeable aspects missing like the zapping system, but not to the extent that Resident Evil 3 Remake does.
Removing the Live decision choices, reducing the depth of ammo crafting, removing a number of areas, and the disappointment of Nemesis as a pursuer result in Resident Evil 3 Remake being a good game, but a disappointing remake. In regards to Nemesis, is integration into Resident Evil 3 Remake is especially disappointing considering how well Mr. X was implemented into the Resident Evil 2 remake.
There are bits where Resident Evil 3 Remake comes together. The dodging system is much less dodgy (no pun intended) compared to the original title, and the boss fights are well done, but Resident Evil 3 Remake still falls short of its original inspiration, and its other Remake that was released the year prior.
Of the mainline titles, I rank the Resident Evil 3 Remake quite far down, ahead of only Resident Evil Zero and Code Veronica.
When the Resident Evil 3 Remake first came out, I played the demo but decided to hold off. I continued to do so after the reviews, and then when I finally was going to cover it here, rumors of an extended cut started to go around but never came to fruition. The fact that it's something people hope just goes to show how much they dropped the ball with Resident Evil 3 Remake.

Jill being supercop completely undermines the threat Nemesis poses. Her constantly throwing one liners at this monster makes him seem like a joke. The ''I'll give you stars'' line is completely out of place in the remake. In the original game, she's finally beaten it down after being hunted for the entire game. The line is earned and feels right.

There needs to be an update of this game or a "Director's Cut" where they change up the story and add in areas that were cut from the original. Jill should be at the RPD, not Carlos. Nemesis should put Brad down, or Jill who is way more emotionally invested than Carlos. So many ways they could improve this and make it right. @@SolidSnake240 to me, the problem is, even EXCLUDING the live selection parts, there is still so much that could have done regarding adapting the original, that they didnt. A brand new clock tower section, which makes use of the vertical space to perhaps give the really well made pursuer nemesis they built for the city section more time to shine. Imagine being 2-3 floors above him, and have him lift all the way up in front of you, bc you made yourself known? All whilst solving some good ol' fashioned RE puzzles? Hell yes. AND EVEN WITHOUT THE CLOCKTOWER TOO, there is STILL more they left out, even regarding their OWN REmake of 2. The teaser for the showers having a burst wall in the RE2 Remake could have been a GREAT set piece. Pull the bait and switch on players. Carlos gathers the C4 and goes to place it, but BOOM, Nemesis bursts through, and chases you down. Could have made for a GREAT payoff to a hole in a wall many fans were speculating was made by Nemesis. I actually don't even think what we got is "bad". its still fun and honestly very repayable, but what we COULD HAVE GOT? The potential? honestly, I could have seen the RE3 Remake being both much more needed and MUCH BETTER than the RE2 remake ever could have been, and that's what hurts me so much!

I also think the Clock Tower need to make a come back, however, I think it should take place in Jill's head while she is unconscious. While Carlos is in the Hospital searching for the cure, Jill is quite literally fighting for her life. This could be represented by Jill fighting her way through the clock tower, fighting monsters', solving puzzles, all the while moving toward the real world and finally escaping the clock tower and "waking up." The fact that it's a fever dream could also explain some of the more complex puzzles and fantastic elements of that section.

Yeah but narratively what would be the point? If something plays out entirely in her head how what that move the plot forward at all other than just adding the clock tower back? To me if they wanted to add it back (as well as other cut streets of raccoon city) we should play as carlos right after jill gets infected and passes out. We could play as carlos fighting through the streets of raccoon city to get to her which would also shed light on the long passage of time before he find her. After that maybe give the player the choice to go to either the clock tower or hospital to cure her or maybe have to go through the clock tower to get to the lab of the hospital like a secret passage way. Its most certainly Not a full proof concept I know, but it could at least keep the game moving forward narratively, as it is actually happening around our characters as opposed to a dream sequence that doesnt move anything forward or any personal conflict

@floshjix you're absolutely right about a dream sequence hosting no narrative value unless the plot demands it. I made this comment considering the opening sequence suggesting that it might add some relevance to her struggle for external validation. If her dream revealed events before she arrives, like the initial outbreak it might aid to further illustrate her helplessness as she witnesses the onset of the t-virus it could also feature Carlos before and after her infection.

Funny thing is the lewd mods for Jill are more known and remembered than the actual game is. Another cool thing about all those "coomer" mods, is that a large amount of the modders who made those mods are discovering cool new things about the RE Engine to the point where they are making their own animations and even inserting new models into the source code itself. The RE Engine could potentially allow Skyrim level modding if the modders keep at it. But the more Capcom tries to put more clothes on the RE ladies, the more the modders will focus on keeping them naked above all else.

All the early REs had gimmicks that were their identity. RE1 was 2 character stories. RE2 was zapping with AB BA crossovers. RE3 was choices and Nemesis. RE3 remake had Nemesis (though more scripted than the original), but they got rid of choices and then a bunch of content and left this pretty shell. Its a shame too. I had high hopes for it as someone that wasn't a huge fan of the original yet saw the potential of a remake that would fix a lot of the issues and problems with the original.

Ive played Re2R at least 100 times by now. It's my comfort game, it's there when I just wanna have unwind with a little bit of a challenge. I loved it. Playing through 3make for the first time was great. It was fun, I like the updated dodge mechanic, Carlos is great, and the achievements were fun to get. But it didn't even take me two weeks before I'd achieved everything there was to do in the game. I beat it on all difficulties, I unlocked everything, I've got all the S ranks I could desire. And I don't ever have that same feeling of craving the game that I have with 2. It's just meh. Don't get me wrong, it's a good game, but it could be better. I haven't touched it in a long while and I think it's just because 2 has way better execution than 3make. Even now, I still haven't gotten Claire's S+ hardcore run down. I wanted 3 to be good. And it is just that. Good, not excellent, not even great, it's just good.

To see them strip alot of great areas from the game and take out the live choice selection moments and tone down the random encounters with nemesis. The thing that upsets me the most about this remake is the absence of the mercenary mode. "Hey Capcom...can I ask you something? Also they blew their load with Mr. X and how much they elaborated on how he would stalk Claire and Leon. They basically took 2 big features that made 3 unique away from it and gave it to 2. Also, I really loved Tyrells character. I think if they couldn’t have worked the park and graveyard into the main plot for Jill, why not let us play as Tyrell as he journeys from the RPD and crosses through the park and graveyard to get to the hospital? I think that would be a great addition if they did some sort of extended cut of RE3 remake. I loved his character and it’d be cool to have him take on the gravedigger.

What baffles me is the fact this is not a completely new game, which would've been okay, however its a remake of a game that came out in 1999, so Capcom literally has their blueprint to improve the OG and make it the best remake...such a disappointment that they cut the contents and half assed their work like the RE2R, like is it too much to ask for a perfect remake?

@@EQOAnostalgia yeah I know that, RE remake is basically the best and perfect one out there and I've played that many times, but I didn't count that as a 'remake' because the modern remakes is are clearly a separate thing with the RE Engine, 3rd person, no fixed cameras and no tank controls...I won't be surprised if RE remake has another remake plan tbh

I love Jill in this game, she's obviously beautiful, but also badass😢 and yet she fails, gets depressed, but still moves forward and still tries to save everyone she mets in her way. The OG game had bad acting that failed to portray that.

Yes i will admit her behind is a thing to look at but she's not hot. Not like her face model or Julia Voth herself. Its the UNreal engines that make characters look weird.

I honestly think it’d have been cool if while Jill was pretty much out while infected we got a sorta nightmare like sequence as Jill going through the clock tower. And then when the scene ends then we jump to Carlos. I will say I’m pretty sure this isn’t my idea, I feel I’ve heard it before in a video about re3 remake.

I have to disagree with the criticism of the dodge mechanic in the original. It's not easy but it's reliable against nemesis and bosses. It's very hard to do against zombies but there are ways to deal with zombies other than dodging. If you get good with the dodge, you can dodge all nemesis attacks but you have to have great timing. Dodge is way too easy in the remake to the point where it's almost pointless to fight most zombies.

To me it seems that dodging becomes more important on the much harder difficulties. Especially in the final fight with Nemesis. One missed dodge and you watch Jill get pummeled to death.

_"Two-make" / "Three-make"_ Is this how the dedicated Resident Evil fanbase refers to the RE2 & RE3 remakes? It sounds even more absurd to me than referring to the franchise as, "Rezzy." But I understand that if the remakes are going to be spoken over and over again, it's good to have a shorter way to say their titles. Thanks for the video. I especially appreciated the comparisons to the original game, which I've never seen. As a first-time player, the thing that disappointed me the most about RE3R was the characterization of Jill. This video does a great job of covering that issue. The only issue I have with this video is the uneven narration. The narrator sometimes trails off and stops fully enunciating. There were parts I replayed over and over again, trying to figure out what he was saying. KZread's auto captions couldn't figure it out, either. Keep your voice steady and strong throughout!

I like 3make as a sequel to 2make, but not as much as a remake of 3, if that makes sense. I played Nemesis only recently, and really enjoyed the pacing and exploration, but preferred the combat and overall gameplay of the remake. Somewhere out there in the multiverse exists as perfect combination of the two, but sadly, this is not what we got lol

Both RE 2 & 3 Remakes should receive Director's cut editions where they should be made in the RE 1 Remake style where only improves, add, preserve, sell at a reasonable price and doesn't sell dlc, not in the RE 2 & 3 Remake styles where it also cuts content, downgrade, change, overprice it and sell dlc. And they should be made by Shinji Mikami.

Totally agree. I still say RE 1 Remake is the best game in the series. It takes everything the original did rebuilds it from the ground up, keeps the core gameplay the same. Not only not removing any area no matter how minuscule but, expanding the game to keep even people who played the original on their toes. Re 1 remake is the best in the series imo just based that they did everything a remake should do: modernize graphics but, keep the core gameplay of what made the original fun the same.

I also hope that the rumored RE 4 Remake will be made in the RE 1 Remake style, and the only things taken from RE 2 & 3 Remakes are the graphic details and some of the dogde mechanics for the Novisdadors. And they shouldn't bundle it with a re online game like resistance.

This one was really disappointing to be honest, as I was expecting so much after the excellent Resident Evil 2 Remake. I didn't rate the original Resident Evil 2, but the remake was so good that Capcom actually made me like it this time, whether the iteration was accurate to RE zealots or not. The original Resident Evil 3 I really really enjoyed (had it on the Dreamcast re-release) and I thought off the back of the Resident Evil 2 Remake, it would be a no brainer that they could also sell this game to old and new audiences alike with all the technology they had at their disposal. Visually, the game was as tidy as the actress who played Jill 😍😍😍, but that's where it ended. The game itself sucked, felt a short, lazy, unfinished beta. Honestly, if not for the Jill actress, I wouldn't have got through the game, much like if Mila Jovovic wasn't in the awful films, I wouldn't have finished those either. This just felt like a cheap cash grab from Capcom - just ripped the existing map and engine, added a couple of character models and that's $50 please. Get the f**k outta here man.

@@White927 Was in my opinion. It just seemed better able to tell the story without it looking silly. The original game's CGI and dialogue was shockingly bad quality, I just couldn't take the game seriously. The remake gave the game a more cinematic and realistic representation. They also elaborated on and fixed the dialogue considerably. If it wasn't that good, I would have uninstalled quickly, as I never liked the original, so Capcom did a good job on this one. Resident Evil 3 Remake, not so much. It was a good game for the little they gave you of it, but it was cut way too short and missing too many things from the original. RE2 didn't really cut much out, but elaborated on what was originally there.
