Rescuing Grace From a BLIZZARD in the 182!!

Ойын-сауық

Grace was caught in a blizzard, so we decided to go and get her for a fun weekend at home. I tried to post some good information on my avionics during the video. Check out the GI-275's and the GNC355 to see what they can do!

It's amazing what you get for the money. The G1000 would be about $80,000. This cost me about $20K (before the engine monitor). The G1000 won't build you a precision approach to ANY airport like this. The old G1000 is definitely a better system, but I can't put a panel in the airplane that is worth more than a stock 182!

Nice video, took me back over 50 years to winter flying in Wisconsin. All that flat land, snow and ice! Yes, I am an Arizona pilot, used to mostly clear weather. We do get snow up here in the mountains, though we haven't had much this winter. Nice 182, and I like your panel. I am considering upgrading from a KLN 90 in my 310, and was glad to see the GI275s and the new Garmin panel unit in operation, I am now strongly considering a similar setup. Fly safe.

Looks like you're one of the unlucky few that got the same quality GoPro as I got, John! Isn't it infuriating? Not like these things are super cheap! I expected MUCH more from GoPro than I've been getting. Mine CONSTANTLY shuts off for no reason. The other thing it loves to do is revert the date back to 2016 unbeknownst to me, so when I upload from the GoPro to my iMac, I have to spend half the day looking for my videos! I could rant about this all day!! I've got into the habit of checking the date each time I change the battery. Sometimes it does it, sometimes it doesn't - zero rhyme or reason! The last video I posted it started shutting down on me in the first 5 minutes of the video. I figured out later that it was the low temperatures causing it. After I warmed it up in front of the waste oil burner, it stopped shutting down. But I see guys with cameras on their wings at 15k feet, so I certainly got a lemon. You've got some real nice instruments in that cockpit! Amazing how much information is packed into one unit. I also like the redundancy of the 2nd unit below the main unit - two is one, and one is NONE! I was blown away at what I assume are the leading cylinder head's temperatures - 100 degrees cooler than the hottest one! To be expected with an air cooled engine in those temperatures I'd imagine. Is your oil temp in C or F? I assume C, since 212°F would be normal on an air cooled engine. 100°F is a bit chilly. Love that 182! That thing really moves! Good to see everyone is healthy and happy! Thanks for sharing!
