This week I stumbled upon a fantastic listing on FB Marketplace for this Warhammer army case, what was inside was absolutely epic, and the story behind it is one that I need to share.
Unfortunately, I've been pretty sick the last week or so, things are getting back to normal but I did want to get more of this army painted up. In due time though, and then there are the rest of the minis in the box! Super cool Harlequins and Bretonnians!

Do people ever craft some sort of bow string for Warhammer? I have never seen it done.
@eBayMiniatureRescues
Ай бұрын
@@robinblackmoor8732 I’ve seen it done before, usually some kind of twine that you can harden with glue. Games like Blood & Plunder have a pretty good sized crowd that go hard on sails and rigging, pretty similar I imagine.

@@eBayMiniatureRescues I will have to search for videos. Thanks.
Rest in peace Jeff. Your spirit lives on with your warriors.
Cancer survivor here. This hobby and the community was a great support for me. They held a charity tournament and it was during Covid so I limited exposure but going to pick up hobby supplies and talking with the guys at the store was an awesome respite. The look of shock and horror on my oncologists face at my wet pallet when I was getting some chemo infusions was hilarious. But the painting helped me get through a tough time. Truly a cool nod of respect to Jeff. it’s awesome to see the respect and support this community gives.
Much respect for Jeff ,RIP brother, also much respect to Casey for the respect payed to the man....hobby family!!!😊
"No one is actually dead until the ripples they cause in the world die away." - Terry Pratchett. I thought this video was a wonderful tribute, Jeff's models are in good hands. RIP.
Man this episode feels special. It represents the best that this hobby has to offer. A truly meaningful story and tribute to one of our fallen. R.I.P. Jeff
In one of your treent models, you should carve Jeff's name in the bark, like when people do that to trees IRL.
Best memorial you could do for the guy. Live forever, Jeff.
This one hits. My sister passed away one year ago last month. You've reminded me that I need to paint a few models for her in her honor. Something she'd have liked and been proud of me for putting together. Rest well, Jeff. I'll carry a piece of your memory with me.

It really hit me too, i lost my dad March last years, I wake up crying every other night :( Its really hard and painting models, not just warhammer, makes it so much easier because my father was a model enthusiast for most of his life and made WW2 models and fighter planes and hung the planes in my room when i was a boy and introduced me to models and Warhammer at a really young age. I'm even tearing up and crying just writing this comment. Casey did us bad this time BUT I love Casey and his heart and mind is always in the good place for us all :)
Hey Casey, Trish Carden, the sculptor for the origional treeman sells oldhammer style miniatures through footsore miniatures. Including a couple of really nice treeman sculpts.

There's a multipart interview with her on the filmdegg YT channel. She talks about the Treeman sculpt.

Thank you Casey. Thanks for the work you do, the care that you put into all of you're projects, and most importantly the understanding that these aren't just things. These minis had sentimental value to their owners too. Thank you for sharing Jeff's story and picking up his banner to carry on the fight

Rest in Piece dear Jeff, I lost my father last year to cancer, it is so hard watching someone who is closest to you suffer and in pain, but I know my father is at peace now and is not hurting anymore, Condolences to Jeff's family and to you all who had suffered or is suffering right now, Piece be with you, I am not a christian man but Cancer doesnt ask for religion or beliefs. Love you Casey, you are an inspiration and a mentor !
For Jeff! May your warhammer loving spirit rest easy. ❤
Respect voor gevingerd jeff’s models some life. It will let is wargaming soul live on. RIP
Rest in Paradise Jeff, nice work on keeping his legacy in the hobby going Casey. Sorry if I misspelled your name 👌
Big Hugs for Jeff's Mom. You gotta do something big with this. For Jeff, For all the lost but never forgotten.
Love this man- Rest in peace Jeff.
My community also lost a fellow wargamer to cancer about 3 years back. This video hits home! Amazing that Jeff's models will live on!
Everyone who is involved in the hobby- painter or gamer is a brother or sister, a friend whom I have a connection with that I can sit and chat to. We all have that in common and to know that Jeff will live through this video and his models is a fitting tribute to one of our own.
Good on you for taking on the project and showing the respect this project deserves.
You honor Jeff. You honor the hobby. You also honor yourself.
Rest in peace Jeff. I feel an instant connection, I started with wood elves in fantasy and IG in 40k too. This was an awesome project.
Really heartbreaking that at one point the box was just never opened again and life took over. RIP Jeff.
Great work and a proper memorial, Casey. We remember our battle-brother well. He may have lost his battle, but we shall carry on the war in his name. Rest easy, Jeff. The Emperor knows his name.
This is why games like these survive so long, because of the stories of the people that enjoy them
Casey man.... You embody everything that is awesome about our community, the big heart, and the spirit of community that, Us as war gaming hobbiest, put forth. Thank you for all your content... I know that the mom that sold these.... will watch this and see the care you put into rescuing her sons passion. Keep it up man!!! Keep doing all that you are!!!! Bravo
Humanity and kindness in our “war game” ❤
RIP Jeff, as we get older, remember these things are only yours until you're gone.

I really was hoping for a boat 🛶
What a great tribute to Jeff.
i like it when you take on projects like this, because it's a kindly gesture that goes a long way towards disproving the standard modern era tropes about how "all gamer guys are 'problematic' and are The Problem". Mind you, there's lots of guys in Warhammer circles who gladly uphold that stereotype, but that's not my point. Good show, Casey, and this is another reason I follow your channel; you coming off as a really down to earth and modest fellow.
Just correcting a little thing wood elves are not a legacy are they just haven’t had a range release yet , but there rules can be found in the forces of fantasy book , the legacy army’s like ogres , lizardmen , dark elves , vampire counts and deamons are legacy and have free pdfs , what it’s looking like is wood elves will be around September or October this year with a few new minis , also rest in peace Jeff

What a great way to address such a heavy topic. This is what the wargaming community should aim to be.
Hope you do continue the purple and blue checker patern of that one and can't wait to see Jeff's arm completed someday
The old sprews didn't care about how long it took you to make them, just that when you're done there is little to no better feeling!

My most favorite rescue to date! Thank you Casey, this video is excellent on all counts.
Really good video, Casey, I didn't expect such a story behind the mystery case. Looking forward to see you finish assembling and painting Jeff's Harlequins, he did a really good job on the patterns.

The model looks great! A finished army would make a great opportunity for an auction for the Cancer Foundation.
Story about scoring a deal on some miniatures turns into a containing legacy of a past miniature wargamer. ::salutes::
This one hit hard. Wood Elves were the army that got me into Warhammer, though they were the previous generation to these. Giving these models a chance to shine on the table is a fantastic tribute to Jeff. You're doing a fine thing here. Keep up the good work.
That Mordheim mercenaries warband needs a video as well. They are such good models

Jeff you’ll live on forever!
A great way to continue his memory, awesome stuff 💪
Man, I bought 3 auctions last year for around $700 shipped halfway across the US. TONS of models. Hundreds of 40k and AoS models and hundreds more of other wargames I didn't know at the time. As I'm sorting all this stuff out ( it was literally just dumped in 3 plastic totes ), I uncovered a WARLORD TITAN (minus the head) with all the gun attachments. I was expecting to flip most of this stuff for a huge profit. I found a DVD in the bin with the titan. It was from a hospital(?) ( didn't know they did this?) and it had the previous owner's name on it. I watched it, and it had notes about his disease and a picture of him and his son. He was my age, within the month, according to the sticker on the DVD. His son was my daughter's age-ish based on the photo on the DVD, and that shit rocked me. I realized I got this amazing deal because a dude, my age, died and left his son (probably plenty others)with these mementos and nobody knew what they were. Some were reallly, really, lovingly painted. I tried to reach out but the auction house wouldn't help me in that. IDK what much the point of this is, but this shit still sits on me. Tyler, the warlord titan, now stands tall over my Salamanders, and I hope he does you justice.
Thank you for the positivity this morning, I really needed it.
Thanks for sharing Jeff's story with us, Casey. May your work on his minis honor his memory.
F in the chat for Jeff.
I have lost a few friends and family to the big C do thank you for the work and the kind words. I use the hobbie as an escape from the reality of the lucky stuff. ❤ thank you sir for the work
Good story. Good heart.
Jeff
Nice I loved the wood elf models of old
Well done.
Appreciating WH Fantasy / The Old World content.
Funnily enough; I got the old metal Treeman, metal spellweaver and metal Shadow's Coil Wardancer. Kinda tempted to look for 3 units of Glade Guard, 10 Glade Riders, 10 Waywatchers, a Waywatcher Lord and a Glade Lord w/Bow. And maybe some of those amazing looking metal War Dancers from 6th Edition. Was looking to proxy them as well but haven't settled on anything yet.
$100. WOW! That is almost free when you think about everything that you got. An empty case might be $100 in the not too distant future.
Love to see this! I've also caught the Old World bug and found the same starter collection that I mostly never finished from when it was released. This vid is great inspiration, thank you! Can I ask why you want to replace the Proxies? they look fantastic
Nice bro.
I like everything about this video!
Dont cry dont cry. Almost got me. Id love to see some of his models with the free hand finished.
Game on,Jeff.
Really touching video. Plz keep us up to date with the project. Judging by the comments, we're invested - i know i am.
When I started painting model cars & airplanes in the '70s I painted them on the sprues. But that was because they had pretty big pieces with relatively small sprue connections.
If you ever want me to laser cut you out any of those conversion trays just say the word. great video as always.
I think I got both boxes you showed. The original large flat case and the chunky box case. Fun story, my exwife and her kids bought me the flat case and hid the damn thing in my car while I drove us home from the mall gw store lol
Priming and even painting on the sprue is something plastic modelers do with tank/car/plane/robot kits. Someone probably thought to use it figures without really thinking it through…
RIP Jeff
Damn I didn’t expect to feel emotions today

I am on the fence for printing a Wood Elves army….but for One Page Rules instead of GW… I really should start that process, your video might be the push I need :)

@eBayMiniatureRescues
Күн бұрын
For sure! The mini is a One Page Rules Vampiric Commander on Abyssal Terror, here's the link: mmf.io/o/367375 really cool model, it prints in a few parts but the keying is perfect, they did a great job with it. The resin I used was Uniformation's Plant Based Resin. It's not the best, but the printer is probably making up for it. I prefer Phrozon Aqua 8K. But this is a mix of gray and red, I was switching from gray to red, which is more of a peach color anyway, not sure why they call it red. The quality comes down to the printer being top notch and the supports that OPR has are very easy to get off without hurting the finish too much. It's also worth noting that I printed this when my hobby space was probably 75*F and the printer heater was on. I dialed everything in with this range finder: www.thingiverse.com/thing:6023738 I printed almost the entire army in a few days because conditions were so nice, so that helped keep them looking good as well. Hope that helps!
Gamers may die, but our legends will always continue.
Even years later, priming on the sprue was always the absolute worst idea.
So i sprayed primer on a big expensive mini in the winter and it ended up gummy. How do I save my Cthulhu The Harbinger mini?
@eBayMiniatureRescues
27 күн бұрын
That is a pretty big model. I would try finding a large tub to put him in with some concentrated degreaser and just let it sit for a week or so, covered so the degreaser doesn't evaporate. Try scrubbing it off and repeating. You can also use some isopropyl alcohol, that should cut through the primer pretty well, more expensive though. I would start there and see what happens, but it will probably come off :) Hope that helps
@moolate127
27 күн бұрын
@@eBayMiniatureRescues Thank you so much! He'll be back to towering over my other minis in no time.
I noticed you have isopropyl around all the time but don’t use it. I’ve been asking around. How long would you leave black primed models in that solution?
@eBayMiniatureRescues
29 күн бұрын
Mostly it's for cleaning 3D prints after they come off the printer. Iso gets all the extra resin off of the minis before they go into the cure station. I also use it to clean my desks and airbrush stuff. For stripping it can be a little hit or miss. Sometimes it works perfectly and sometimes not so much. If iso doesn't work all the way, the degreaser usually does, and the other way around. As far as leaving models in iso, you can pretty much leave them in as long as you need to. Plastic won't get hurt, metal for sure won't. Resin can get soft though, so be careful how much you soak that stuff. Concentrated degreaser you can soak anything for as long as you want without any issues, or at least, none that I have noticed ever. Hope that helps :)
@Tangodownmtndew
28 күн бұрын
@@eBayMiniatureRescues appreciate that. I got the degreaser. How long do you think it would take for black primer to come off?
This priming on the sprue thing is so odd. It's not something that was ever advised by GW in any of their publications or in stores. But it's something I see come up time and again on various wargaming, and strangely, gunpla groups.
🥳❤️👍🏿
Priming on sprue seems smart until you realized you cant see the numbers for assmebly
I tried priming on the Sprue once. It was such a shit idea.
