    I'am a meat eater and i'am telling you america is fcked up both mentally and practically, in almost every country they eat meat and also respect the animals for example they train dogs to protect the hoard of sheeps or goats and everyday walking them towards grassy areas mountains or plains until the man or man who keeps them take a break then going again till before sunset, even myself had chickens if one of them was favourite for me i would literally feed her other chickens when they grow well before they age that's it idk what's hard about consuming the fact that they're made for human to be eaten and also respected

    On a separate note, I want to add that Cornish cross chickens (the breed Henrietta was) are bred to be meat birds. As a result, they rarely live to adulthood due to their hearts being too weak to support their bodies. The fact that Henrietta lived to be a year old shows that she was so unbelievably loved by her people, and they did everything they could to make her short life wonderful.

    Not everyone can sustain being a vegetarian, that's understandable but I believe cruel farming methods should change. Just because these animals will be slaughtered doesn't mean that these animals don't deserve being treated with love, respect and a proper healthy life and diet. As a person, seeing another being treated so cruelly breaks my heart. But if you are like many other commenters, that simply see this as the norm or simply don't care for another being's welfare...then I say this to you.... Think of it this way. If the animal is shut in a place with no sunlight, isn't allowed to roam free, is allowed to be diseased, allowed to fester in their own and other chicken’s excrement and isn't given a proper well balanced meal... and instead is just given fatty corn based chicken feed … That literally affects you too and maybe since it affects you as well ..then you too would want an end to cruel farming practices because guess what …. A chicken with no sunlight can’t produce that vitamin D they would naturally produce due to lack of sun exposure … A chicken that can't roam can't eat those bugs, worms and other vitamin rich critters …which would provide an abundance of diverse nutrients … A chicken allowed to get hurt, diseased and that festers in their own excrement means that you may be eating a sick, hurt, unhealthy chicken that was in disgusting conditions …which you are not consuming …. A chicken that lacks a diverse meal and only eats corn based meals …is fatter and has less nutrient rich content than it could have …. All this to say that if you just see this poor creature as just a product then shouldn't you as the paying consumer be enraged that you are paying for a possibly inferior product, that is less nutrient rich than it could be..that at some point in its product life was around excrement …..that if diseased could also make you sick ….. Don’t you agree that we would want to pay for a product that is clean at all stages, is the most nutrient rich and nutrient diverse it can be? ………….I think we can both agree on that

    Thank you for giving her a wonderful home. I did not know these chickens if rescued could not live a full life. My Coqs regularly reach 15 years and my oldest chicken was 11, normally they get to 9 or 10. They are all pets. This just shows the difference re factory farmed animals and normal proper animals. I have recently lost my female pet pig at 16 years whereas farmed pigs are killed at 5 months and 9 months, just no life at all

    The reason factory farms exist is consumers refuse to pay for the costs of raising animals outdoors and humanely. We want cheap food year round. The quickest way to change things is to spend your money ONLY at stores that offer pasture-raised meat - trust me, it works every time.

    The way to end this is to STOP HUMAN PROCREATION. Humans need to eat animal products to stay alive. If people know this and decide to bring more humans the demand for meat keeps growing so if we want it to cease to exist then we must stop making more humans. You don't do anyone a favor when you choose to procreate. It's absolutely selfish and all around destructive.

  • @englishatheart

    @englishatheart

    @@k.s.k.7721 Guess what? Many many people cannot afford to shop any differently. The only way to truly solve the problem is for all humans to give up meat or for money to be eliminated so everyone, regardless of their financial sitation, has access to "humanely" (there really is no such thing) treated dead animals. And, in case you're one of those ignorant twats that thinks people can simply get "better jobs," there are literally more humans than there are jobs, let alone well-paying jobs. It is literally impossible for every single person to get a well-paying job. And since businesses are too greedy to pay every employee a livable wage that would allow them to afford more expensive food, and since humans have been forced to rely on having money to survive, people do what they have to do.

    Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge. When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable. All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind. They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster. You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart. Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

I'm going back, some fifty years. Watching this and you hear some of the stories, you get reminded of an experience if you had one, but when you're so young and the circumstances were never in question; you never thought about it. At least Henrietta got to have a life and had some loving.
