Birds in general are misunderstood and habitually underestimated by humans. We're only now having the honesty to really explore and properly acknowledge the culture, intelligence, and abilities inherent in all birds. So very grateful this bird and human have become a happy little flock in a place where are both welcomed 🐓😊 ❤️

My daughter picked out a Leghorn chick, and everything online said they were temperamental and not friendly. Sprinkles is a lap chicken, loves car rides, loves sitting on your shoulder, cuddles (has sassed me for trying to end a cuddle), and will seek you out and follow you around. She's an absolute joy.

Oh, they definitely can be pets aswell. There's a huge difference between chickens that are on farms and chickens that are raised as pets. Chickens on farms are far less sentient and follow a herd-like mentality while pet chickens that are cared for will show actual learning just like dogs and cats. I remember when I also had a chicken pet and my mother was also very surprised when the chicken actually understood her command and avoided the area where she didn't want the chicken to poop. People who call then smooth-brains really have no idea about them.

@@hunlepto2239 Why do you think they are less sentient? They are just not given the possibilities to show their personality. The reality for most farm chickens is being caged in a hall without any sunlight ever, in the meat industry growing for about 40 days and then being slaughtered or in the egg industry living for ~1.5 years until being killed and laying an egg almost every day which is only possible due to being overbred, which causes them Problems and pain.

That dance is used as a mating dance or a challenge dance. It indicates that he sees her as a hen, especially since he has no hens of his own to look after. Normally a hen receptive to mating would squat for a male after the dance. Another rooster would react to the dance as a dominance challenge.

Great story.. Reminds me of my rescue baby chick that became a beautiful rooster and was the sweetest....🐓Never was aggressive and sat on my lap... Being a wild-bird and domestic rehabilitator birds are my passion and had many fond memories of my rescue chickens that became part of my family... Have a wonderful life and together... He is beautiful and special and you are wonderful for rescuing him... God bless 😍🐔

@C. Morgan I had a pet old English duckwing bantam hen named tiny. She was 2 pounds. All our chickens were eaten besides her so we gave her to my cousins since they had chickens. She didn't get along with them so they kept her in their front yard instead of with the others in the back. They had 2 miniature dogs and cat that were indoor pets but would go outside to go to the restroom. Tiny started following them back into the house and when she needed to go to the restroom she would either go outside or in a litter box. She was an indoor chicken for 4 years until she died a couple months back at a right old age of 7 years old. The point of my story, chickens are very smart and very impressionable, so do you have some type of indoor animal that it could mimic to go to restroom. P.s. I highly recommend old english bantams their very beautiful, small (averages 2 and half pounds) and you can get them in over 50 different colors and pattern combinations.

@thais juliana.cats know how to bury their feces but chickens dont, if their free ranged outside you'll probably never smell it because it's so small and dry quickly. For the most part chickens will be alot more happy if their free ranged outside at least during the day. Tiny only eent inside to sleep and or get away from predators. Theirs also a KZread channel called "a chick named albert" he has ducks, chicken and quail that free range in his yard and sleeps in the house. I'm not a vegan but the chicken were my pets, and you dont eat pets. Sorry if I was unclear her 7 siblings all died over a period of 3 years. We got them when I was in second grade. Their was a rooster and a hen for each of the 4 breeds we got old english, Rhode island red, bared rocks and cornish cross. We kept them in a cardboard box with wood clippings, food, water, and a heatlamp inside our house for the first two weeks like your suppose to. Then we moved them outside in a chicken. They did fine for 3 weeks until we come home from school to find the bared rock rooster, the Rhode island red rooster, and the old english rooster decapitated and half eaten. When we found them the cornish cross hen and rooster were covered in blood and guts eating them. And the other 3 hens, tiny, gree and fox huddled in a corner hiding from them. Their was plenty of food and water. So we really dont know why they did it. ( I guess the cornish cross rooster already felt threaten by their being two other roosters.) [ but they were all only five weeks old, so who knows why they did that] Tiny was missing a toe, Gree was two and Fox had a broken wing and the edge of her wing was bitten off. So we took the two cornish cross and put them in a cage and later on we ate them when they got bigger (what were we suppose to do reward them by getting them their own coop and dividing our backyard so that they to could live a happy life like Tiny, Gree and Fox. 3 years past and they were doing great, they would follow us around like a cat. Let us pet them (all except Tiny I was the only one that could pet and hold he, she would fly onto my shoulder to let me pet her) They got along with our cats and the neighbors dogs and also befriend 3 screech owls that would weirdly roost next to them. Tiny didn't have thick feather so whenever they would roost tiny would be in the middle and they would fluff up and cover Tiny like she was their chick. Like I said 3 years had past and I'm in 5th grade. One night we woke up to chickens screaming. Something had broken into the coop. It was 1 or so in the morning and we rush out to see what happend ( it was pitch black so we couldnt see anything) but after a while of trying to find were it was coming from Gree had broken free from the raccoons thx to Tiny pecking it till they let go. We later found fox completely torn to peices and dead. The next morning around seven Gree died in my arms next to Tiny from internal bleeding. And that's where my other comment continues. I'm a freshman in highschool now and Tiny passed away a couple months back and about 4 weeks ago I got some more chickens only this time, I'm incubating geese eggs so that way they can protect the chickens from animal like raccoons and hawks.

So are you one of the people trying to make us get rid of chickens CUZ we EAT chicken? Yeah abuse isn’t good ever, BUT YHWH did create animals to eat.I won’t eat my pet chickens, but may have to raise some strictly to eat because the gov is trying to take away all our food. I wouldn’t even be the one to process them, nope.

I think the govt wants these streets to be filled with crime and murder, then make people genuinely think guns is bad then as soon as people says we need to ban guns, baam the govt takes full control of every city with very strict police force and your freedom of guns is lost forever.
