Requiem for a Dream - Heartbreaking Argument Scene

Фильм және анимация

Requiem for a Dream is one of the best films about addiction ever made! Do you agree❓

Requiem for a Dream (2000)
• Directed by: Darren Aronofsky
• Written by: Hubert Selby Jr. (based on the book by), Darren Aronofsky (screenplay)

Let us know in the comments if you would like to read the #Screenplay for #RequiemForaDream and we’ll send you the script. Alternatively, you can download the script at www.outstandingscreenplays.com 📝

Writer/Director #DarrenAronofsky described this film as exploring different types of addiction: "The Harry-Tyrone-Marion story is a very traditional heroin story. But putting it side by side with the Sara story, we suddenly say, 'Oh, my God, what is a drug?' The idea that the same inner monologue goes through a person's head when they're trying to quit drugs and cigarettes, as when they're trying to not eat food so they can lose twenty pounds, was really fascinating to me."

The way he nonchalantly grabs the picture of two of them together to scribble the number of the guy who'll sleep with his girlfriend for drugs. Is heartbreaking.

but then he has agonizing nightmarish visions of them doing it in the elevator... drug addiction really does mess with who u are and they were really in love too.. sober him would NEVER share his girlfriend.. the withdrawal and itch for the fix is like no longer when it comes to H.. talk about the devil's tears... liquid demons straight into the vein..

Marion’s rage is so strong it could kill. But it stems from fear because she’s absolutely terrified. The fear and desperation when you’re out of drugs is so overwhelming and they hit the nail on the head perfectly. Especially when she’s ripping the apartment apart, searching for any crumb of a substance to make her feel alive, to make her feel okay

This is real Also shows why casting is just as important as the script itself The actors they are a part of the script The scene shows the reality that we choose to turn our heads to There was a part in the script that she was supposed to say something to the effect of I was counting on you to make it right She didn't verbally say this line She acted it instead...her face..her eyes said it. Love this scene. It is moving..uncomfortable..thought provoking and a pivital point in the plot.

I watched this for the first time earlier this year - on a whim, no less - and the harrowing emptiness that's imbedded in these characters lives, and the damage they had done to themselves and eachother by the end of the film, stuck with me long after the credits rolled. I was not expecting such an impactful film. Movies like this really do hit differently when you come from a family full of addicts and those closest to you being your own parents. Great movie, with wonderful acting, but probably won't be watching it again lol not anytime soon, anyway.

@@UnseenOctthe abscess really brings it home for me, I almost died because of an abscess I just left untreated finally came in the hospital with severe sepsis straight to IV antibiotics. I was literally delusional from fever and I was asking the nurse what time I will be able to leave tonight...the look on her face I know she wanted to slap me but she told me that I was dying and that they are taking me to the ICU. Anyways that was the most painful thing I've ever felt completely swollen and infected and slight movement sent me into a horrible pain you can hardly describe... Anyways the point is I know exactly what it would feel like to be in jail in some unknown red state getting no treatment and the absolute pain of it all. It's almost horror to me.

Honestly, i see this shit being brought up all the time. I mean cmon. Really, people. Oh god. I mean do whatever u gotta do, im just saying how cant any of you just glimpse at the fact maybe just maybe having this extravagant idea of 'im going to show this and that as a anti-something thing' come across as just so blatantly pathetic and out of place, unconsiderate. Maybe im wrong, well not inherently, but wrong in the sense of i may be wrong about the matter...but this is adult/like complex content i wouldnt ever think of 'hey today i woke up and im definitely going to show my son a cool movie' loaded up by the bias of 'thus this way he/they won't ever come near any drugs or illicit substance!' never got it really. Never bought into it. Bah. Whatever. Ironically so, wouldnt any of you think about the possibility a kid might just get sort of traumatized and/or thus infact result in they be sort of captivated by the whole thing as opposed as to' your' good (ill) intents? Using media in general to warp kids beliefs perceptions and minds is nonsensical on top of detrimental and retarded
