Replacing The Tailgate Struts On My Porsche Cayenne!
Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары
If you have an E1 or 955 generation Porsche Cayenne, you'll probably have a tailgate or boot that won't hold open very well. That's due to failing tailgate struts, which in this video I'm going to be replacing on my 2005 Porsche Cayenne. If you'd like to see what I get up to in real time, you can follow me on Instagram: itsjoelw?h....

That’s a pretty good job done I think! Slightly more difficult than I expected, but worth it in the end! Thanks for watching.
Fantastic effort Joel - most certainly a job that needed tackling! 👏🏼😄
Nice one Joel. Thanks to your lovely wife too. Volvo estates have a similar set up. If my V70R struts fail, I now have the confidence to tackle the job with my own lovely assistant. Thank you!
Absolutely amazing 😅 my 2005 VW touareg tailgate has just this morning fallen on my head and wow right in my feed is the exact video i need 😅😅😅 thanks
What a long winded job! Much more difficult than the Z4 you had. Good work, glad you got it sorted! Nearly 100k bro!

It was a bit of a challenge, but well worth doing!
Looks like a nightmare compared to "ordinary" cars. Thank goodness you knew the new struts just push on with no levering out of the new strut clips like some KZread videos show!
Nice job Joel. I didn’t have a lovely assistant and had the power tailgate on my turbo… it’s such an awkward job and easy to see why it’s always an issue on these. Hopefully it gives great info for the many owners with the same issue. Top work. 😊
Brilliant job Joel! Looking great 😊👏
Excellent job Joel on replacing those struts!

Well done Joel. Excellent job.
Great job and video, good for you for going for it. 👍👍👍👍
well done joel , nice job completed there, and satisfying being able to do it yourself, with the wife's help of course.

Wouldn’t have been able to do it without her to be fair!
Respect for completing that job. Xx
Thank you for this video, now my struts are changed to new ones. Just the electric opening left to get to work.
Top work Joel.
Great video and a great Cayenne!
Fair play to you replacing those struts. If it were me I would have simply headed to the nearest independent Porsche specialist and handed over my £ 😂 Informative and interesting content as always.
Great job mate! Cheers Kirk
Nice to see more cayenne content Joel 😁 boots stuts didn't seem that complicated apart from the headlining. Thanks to you im currently saving up to buy one of these 3.2 Cayennes. I was tempted to go for the 4.5 S but after everything I've read the 4.5 it's now an unreliable engine. Most owners say this 3.2 V6 lump is the better more reliable one. Im happy with 240bhp, nothing wrong with that in a big old porsche. I was thinking 4.4 L322 V8 like your old one with the M62 bmw engine but the reliability isn't exactly great lets be honest
I seem to recall a parody twitter account that posted something like "Do you feel insecure? Are you worried that people don't know just how much money you really have? Then get yourself a Porsche Cayenne...."
saw the advert! I dont have a driving licence! 😂
So how did the leaves get in? Great video, best one on this topic ive seen. Thanks. Will do mine now 😂
did you not re grease the sockets??
Excellent job on breaking the headlining jeeze .

@@Boris-xx7dwha, I’m right with you on that. I was Sat saying ‘don’t do it Joel’ and then he did it. That black stuff will never come off. I like Joel and admire his have a go attitude but that was a little careless. I can’t believe how lovely his misses is. No way mine would have stood there on tip toe trying to hold up a heavy tailgate. Her shoulders must have been killing her. Bless her.
Good blog but as a suggestion a broom makes a good support for either a bonnet or boot.
when I did the door struts I didn't prop the door and it slammed shut on my right thigh and I thought I had broken it!! Its VERY heavy!
You did a good job, although I don't know how you managed it without breaking something!

He did the headlining lol .
Cool!
Should have gone with stabillis for both struts OEM make and about £110 for the kit🤔job done, don’t forget the butyl type seal for the strut covers or it’ll piss in 👍
Mine arnt that bad but I would change if it was an easy job… I think taking that liner off would be stressful for me so i’ll just let it develop more before I take it to a garage, who will probably charge me a fortune. 😊
Great job! A fun watch! Harder than I expected with so much trim to remove =O everyone needs a wife =)
MA WIFEEEE
Hope you resealed the gas strut cover or you'll be getting water in there and destroying your headliner
06:20 Joel is the king of double entendres… “we’re about 2 hours in and we’ve made a mess in the back”😂😂
Give it a few weeks and its will get easier to pull down.
rabbits name should be BOB
Why didn’t you just get your hoover from the house instead of that crappie toy hoover😂😂😂😂😂😂

God there messing with my phone
EVERY Cayenne owner should do this?? Don't be ridiculous 😅 Only owners with faulty struts should do this 😅

@@keithvers569so after a while, but on day 1 as a new owner, I wouldn't need to replace the struts. Therefore 'every owner' doesn't need to do it. I'd also suggest that genuine Porsche struts are likely to be better quality than the eBay specials that Joel bought.
Was looking like a pretty cheap fix until you said that you needed a wife, would've been cheaper to burn the car and buy 10 new ones.😆😆
What a pain in the arse job.

German crap where a 20 min job on a Toyota takes 10 hours on a BMW.

Agreed. Over engineered rubbish. What's more, you probably won't need to replace struts on a Toyota as often because they make their cars properly in the first place.
