Replacing starter motor on a 2006 Honda Accord

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

The 2006 Honda Accord LX wouldn't start - no action from the starter motor at all. After a few quick checks (charged battery, good fuses and relays) I realized it was most likely the starter. I bought a new one on Amazon for ~$70 USD and swapped it out. I had some helping hands on this fix which made the process easier!
This job required several socket sizes: 10mm, 12mm, 14mm, and 17mm, plus a gallon of elbow grease. And oh, a 4 foot pipe for leverage! And, um, a pencil.

Thank you so much. I replaced my starter today on a 2006 honda accord with an OEM one. Took me a good two hours as it was my first DIY. Seeing the horror of the 17 mm bolt being hard to come off, i sprayed pb blaster two days prior and let it soak. The bolt came off without any effort with a half in socket and 24 inch breaker bar. Also, i guess everyone removed the 14 mm bolt first, which causes further pressure on the 17 mm. Id suggest remove the 17 mm and then proceed with the 14 mm. New ignition switch + new started + new battery, car starts like a brand new one.

Awesome! Great tip on removing the 17mm first - and the PB Blaster!

I can't remember where I got it, but it looks similar to "Nut & Bolt Thread Checker" on Amazon. It's not bad, but there are some drawbacks: if you are trying to measure the threads on something large, it's hard to spin the whole daisy chain around. Also, the threads aren't too deep. Lastly, I wish the markings were clearer.
