Honda Accord 2.4L Starter Replacement 2007 (2006-2007 Similar). In this video I show how to remove and replace the starter on a 2007 Honda Accord with a 2.4L engine. Replacing the starter on a 2.4L Accord can be a bit more work than other models because the starter is under the intake manifold. The exact vehicle in this video is a 2007 four cylinder Honda Accord 2.4L EX Sedan. 2007 Honda Accord 4 cylinder starter replacement.

3 years later and this video is still helping people make this repair. Great video, easily the best one I found on the internet, making it very easy to follow and understand. I made this repair on my son's car and it was extremely helpful. Well done!
This are a very tough times, so expensive car repairs are a huge set back. But God blessed us with people like you Sir, people that really help our families to get through. Thank you so much. My Son would be able to go to school in time because of you. Thank you so much 🙏🏽
The battery died Sunday night. Fixed that, but it still wouldn't start. So new starter on Monday. It then ran, but the battery icon popped up. So new alternator on Tuesday. The new starter was defective, so 2nd alternator on Wednesday. 🤣 I saw my wife online looking at new $30K+ cars, so I was definitely going to get the car fixed! Thanks for the help!!!
This was so helpful dude I can’t explain how much you saved my butt!! Local shop wanted $650 I ordered the part off Amazon for $110 and fit like a charm! Im 20 and don’t have a lot of mechanic knowledge but with this video it only took my 3 hours. THANK YOUUUU

I finally did this yesterday. Everything went smooth as described but for a few things. The biggest pain was to remove the O2 sensor attached to the bracket. I just couldnt get a feel for the clips. Oh and it took me 6 hours with breaks in between as my back was killing me. I am stil sore but I am glad I can move the car now. And I thank BigDog for this very descriptive and informational video of getting it done.Thank you.

I watched a different video prior to this one. I did my 07 Accord & didn’t take any radiator hoses loose. The other video said he does them in :20min but my engine had much more in the way.. so was 2.5-3.0 for me start to finish but definitely saved paying a mechanic
Thanks Big Dog!! Much love ! I just saved myself 150 buckssss
Your a life saver my friend! I was able to get my daughter back on the road today because of this video! Thanks!
Great video. Very good lighting.. Nice and bright we can see everything. No out of focus.
Great explanation on taking the starter out and great camera work showing everything that needed to be done.
Thanks for the very detailed video! I probably took me less than two hours to do. The bracket below the intake manifold was the most challenging. I decided to just remove the nut that connects the bracket to the manifold, and I think that was the right choice. The intake tube was cracked as expected, so I replace that as well ($16 aftermarket part). I chose to just replace the brushes in the starter. I got an aftermarket kit ($15) and it took about 20 minutes to install. Now it starts like a champ again.
Thank you so much for uploading the video. Followed your instruction step by step and successfully replaced starter on my 07 Honda accord.

Thank you for the comprehensive, clear, easy-to-understand video. I was a little anxious about disconnecting all the hoses, but looking at the actual car, the hoses are all in good condition and seem unlikely to break, etc. Even the big air inlet pipe is closer to 'rubber' than plastic, so I can hopefully remove it w/o issue. Ordered a gasket and Honda/Mitsuba starter.

Great video. Took me about 2 1/2 from start to finish with no experience. I did have an issue with the bottom bracket. I didn't struggle at all to remove the housing, but when I put it back in, the bracket had twisted about 45 degrees and the bolt wouldn't go in. I couldn't bend it back, so I just left it off for now

This is the only tutorial works for me. 07 accord intake manifold has an additional plastic structure blocking the access to the starter. So if the manifold is not removed completely there's no enough room for the operation, especially for untucking the 17mm bolt, which is extremely tight. Great video, also some details are showing a good working habit. Learnt a lot. 👍

Thank you for your 2004 and this 2007 starter videos. I have a 2006 Accord with the big canister behind the intake manifold. I don't like to disconnect the coolant hoses. I rotate the intake manifold, with the throttle body attached, 90 degrees upward at the right side of the engine bay. i.e. the left side of the manifold is pointing toward the ceiling and the throttle body is pointing toward the ground. The coolant hoses are connected to the throttle body at all time. I have lots of rooms to work on the starter just like the intake manifold is outside of engine bay.

I get nervous twisting the hoses like that, but will consider it. All my hoses seem to be in fairly good shape.
Great video and thanks for all the explanations! I wish I had seen this video 2 1/2 years ago when I was changing the starter in my 2006 Honda Accord. Question: I'm not sure what all happened with the way I changed the starter, but I've been getting a check engine light with code P0420 since then. Any idea what might have gone wrong? The video that I watched 2 1/2 years ago, recommended to remove the throttle body and that required changing the gasket. I also changed the gasket on the manifold. I also cleaned the throttle body with some throttle body cleaner. I might have made a mistake by cleaning it after I reinstalled it on the car. The CEL comes on and off from time to time, but mostly on. Recently, I had several other codes, and I then I realized the filter intake hose was cracked and needed to be replaced, and that took care of several codes. I also had an issue with the Evap Solenoid, and I watched one of your other videos on how to replace it. Thanks again for your great videos!
Thanks BigDog. I did this on my daughter's Accord, also 2007. The 17 mm bolt was a 4 hour nightmare due to galling.

Yo yo big 🐕, hope you & your family's New Year's was wonderful!! My 2006 Honda Accord EX 2.4 l is squeaking of course at the power steering pump & the bearings are 🥃 (shot - hey, it's 1-1-2023) & of course it's making a slight grinding noise internally so I'm replacing the power steering pump then swapping out the pulleys. Using FEL-PRO MS 96474 Exhaust Manifold Gasket Set. My car's got 245,000 mi on it so the starter and alternator are not far behind. Since I have to take the exhaust manifold off in it's entirety to get to the starter, I'm just going to purchase a new, NOTHING REMAN, starter, power steering pump & alternator and replace everything since I'll have easy access to everything once the exhaust manifold is off. NAPA is your friend for "lifetime warranties" as long as the parts installed on the vehicle the same owner owns at the time of failure! Yes, I know the old saying if it's not broke don't fix it but it makes the most sense to me because I know the starter and alternator are not far behind. Nothing worse than the starter not starting and the alternator not charging. HERE's CHEERS 🍷 to a happy, healthy & profitable 2023 NEW YEAR !!
Thanks First start in morning, my 07 4cyl starter seems to hang up a bit as if an intermittent engagement but never again throughout the day NE colder temps Also heater seems to take a long time to warm up and even the temp moving to normal seems delayed as compared to my Toyota 4 cylinder Typical?
I had to do this on my '08 Accord a couple of years ago. It was a real pain. In fact, the long bolt in the back had locktight and broke in place so I had to tow the car to a local shop.

@BigDog50001

When I troubleshoot a screeching complaint, I first look for loose drive belts, bad pulleys or a bad component (binding or seized) attached to those pulleys that is causing the belt to lose grip with the pulleys and chirp. That being said, I have not heard the sound yours is making and sounds that vehicles make can sometimes be deceiving (or hard to describe to others).
Dave even in the aviation field washers have a flat and. Rounded side. Flat side goes to the mating surface. It’s the way they are stamped out in the manufacturing process. Does it matter on a none sealing surface not really. Thanks for sharing and hope all is well. Just for info I had the MIL light illuminate the other day on my 07 Odyssey after driving about a mile. It was on steady with no other lights or drivability problems. Came home put the scanner on and it showed a transmission range switch PID. No other PIDS. I then reset the light and it has not reoccurred. Purchased a new OEM switch just in case it returns. Read where they are known to act up. Have you experienced any issues? Thanks Artie 👍🇺🇸

Maria, the reason why mechanics charge a lot of money, is because it takes a lot of tools, money for tools, knowledge and know how. I can easily see a 2007 Honda accord starter labor alone to be $400. The fatigue on his back is a lot, he should actually jack the car up from the sub frame and put it on jackstands in the front and then block the back wheels. Other tutorials say to just Tyler the intake manifold back but on a 2007 accord, There is a plastic resonator so you have to remove the intake manifold and the throttlebody as one unit, basically you just dissecting the entire engine. You are pulling vacuum hoses and unplugging sensors galore. The fatigue on your forearm from twisting these nuts is great, that is why you use an electric device whenever you can. Another to KZread channels let's say for example a 2004 Honda accord the installation may be a little bit easier, but not the 2007

@@jems924 I purchased a new Duralast Gold starter for $240 at Autozone lifetime warranty. I installed it 12am- just finished at 8am. Took me 8 hours and my hands are cut up, lol. I wanted the experience to install this because I have done head gaskets and suspension parts before, but never a starter. I havent been to a mechanic in 20 years cuz im a DIY home mechanic. I followed his youtube techniques. But it wasn't as planned. First you remove the Plenum, I call i the intake manifold.. But there are 2 tiny hoses near the throttle body that is attached to the plenum that he didnt mention, so when i removed the 2 hoses, coolant started shooting everywhere. So I couldnt remove the Plenum as he did in the video. Unless I drained all the coolant. Which i didnt. So i pulled the plenum back and tied it, which gave me clearance but that is the #1 reason home mechanic always cut up their hands. Its because they do shortcuts instead of removing things and squeeze their hand in tight places. I watched the Lex Fridman and Joey Diaz podcast on youtube so I was taking my time just chilling. But the previous mechanic who worked on the 2007 accord in my posession stripped 1 of the mounting bolts so it wont go that tight. argg. That caused a 3.5 hour delay. If you like to work on your car, and you have a garage, and $500 in tools... then its good just for life experience so you know. I could have paid someone $250-$400 to install it, but now I have the experience. My car started after i installed it, thank god, lol. I know moving forward, for my particlar car, to drain all the coolant, that way I could take off the plenum and have easy access to the starter mounting bolts without scraping up my hands for future reference. If I were a mechanic, I wouldnt touch this job for under $500 installation charge. It was a hellish 8 hours .. and my hands are cut up, lol. Just finished.. Its 9:53am right now.. Im going to check the stock market and go to sleep later. My Mercedes the starter is going out.. But, I hear its super simple to change on a Mercedes V6 because it is super easy access. My Mercedes is easier to work on than my Honda because theres more room/bigger engine bay. Also, when I adjusted my valves on my honda accord, it was easier than changing the starter. If your in Los Angeles and need help, i can help you. U just need your own garage. Have a good day! Just want to share my hellish instal story, lol.
