How To Remove Starter Honda Accord 2003 2004 2005 2.4L & 2006 2007 w/Intake Manifold Chamber Removal

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

In this video, young DIY mechanic Aiman will show you how to remove the engine motor STARTER for 2.4L Honda Accord 2003 2004 2005 & 2006 2007 model years. The removal process is not too difficult, rather easy and not as time consuming or complicated as one would expect.

This step-by-step tutorial was performed on a 2007 Honda Accord which will require the removal of upper intake manifold which has the air inlet Chamber assembly, which could be helpful for those looking for a guide on how to remove the intake manifold or the Chamber Assembly (Honda 17160-RTA-000). For model years 2003-2005, there is no need to remove the Intake Manifold Inlet (17110-RAA-A10) or the air filter assembly & hoses. We're not sure about the 3.0L VTEC Accord but the process could be the same.
If you car won't start then most likely it is the starter motor. Starter Motor - How It Works: When you turn the key in your car’s ignition, the engine turns over and then cranks. Getting a crank requires a flow of air into the engine, which can only be achieved by creating suction. If your engine isn’t turning over, there’s no air. No air means that fuel can’t combust. The starter motor is responsible for turning the engine over during ignition and allowing everything else to happen. When you turn the ignition on, the starter motor engages and turns the engine over allowing it to suck in air. On the engine, a flywheel, with a ring gear attached around the edge, is fitted to the end of the crankshaft. On the starter, the pinion is designed to fit into the grooves of the ring gear. When you turn the ignition switch, the electromagnet inside the body engages & pushes out a rod to which the pinion is attached. The pinion meets the flywheel and the starter motor turns. This spins the engine over, sucking in air (as well as fuel). As the engine turns over, the starter motor disengages, and the electromagnet stops. The rod retracts into the starter motor once more, taking the pinion out of contact with the flywheel and preventing potential damage.
If you need a picture guide instead of a video, you can use the following link: practicalmechanic.com/2021/08...
The primary function of the intake manifold is to evenly distribute the combustion mixture (or just air in a direct injection engine) to each intake port in the cylinder head(s). Even distribution is important to optimize the efficiency and performance of the engine. How Does an Intake Manifold Work? Air travels through the intake and the throttle body into the plenum of the intake manifold. When the intake valve closes, it creates pressure waves that send the air back up the runner. It then bounces off the plenum and comes back into the cylinder when the intake valve opens again.

This kid explains car things better than every adult I’ve tried to listen to. All of this experience will look great on the ol’ resume as an adult and eliminate all other candidates. If you even need to make one by then. Damn it! Good for you, Aiman, good for you. This is probably the first positive comment I have ever written on KZread in my entire life.

Just changed my starter this afternoon. I watched a few shorter videos but they didn’t completely disconnect the exhaust manifold. I spent HOURS trying to do it their way but once I completed disconnected it and moved it out the way, I had so much more room to work to get the starter bolts out. Mind you, I did the entire job using only hand tools 🛠️ Thanks again

This is a great video. I did this same project and would have saved time had I seen this video first. My intake has the chamber connected below it but I was ultimately able to get to the starter without having to fully remove the manifold. It ultimately worked out, but I had challenges with getting a good angle to loosen and tighten the nut on main power feed to the starter. Nice job with the video it will be helpful for many!

This is what I am wondering. I couldn't figure out why this job was so easy for everybody else online until I realized I have the dang chamber assembly for the upper intake manifold in my 2007 accord. No wonder I am struggling so much. I refuse to take apart the engine so I am hoping I have some better luck

Saved a whole lot of money on an unnecessary job.
