Hey James, Good video. I would like to see how you installed/loaded the inner tensioner without removing the cams using your notched socket tool. Also, is you blind hole inner cam bearing remover/installer Harley Davidson specific? Thanks, Frank

At the beginning of the video you twice mention that the inferior tensioners do not apply to the 2006 Dyna but later it shows you changing the shoes on a 2006 Dyna and later Twin Cams. I am confused. I have a 2006 Dyna so do I have to check the tensioner shoes?

I bought a set of your cam shoes a while back but lost one of the metal pin/rivet that goes through the shoe. Can I buy a pin/rivet?

I will just install the SE update cam plate, with a set of S&S hydraulic tensioners. Also, replace the cam bearings with the updated bearings.

Good video. But incorrect. Proper way is to have pin head at the marked side. If you do this other way, tensioners will scratch cam plate when installed. Ruined my tensioner kit today.

James Simonelli excessive use? fuck off, using the product you payed for is not abussing it as you are trying to imply to justify this failure in design

  • @08StreetGlide

He said excessive use....the recommended replacement schedule is set by the manufacture....any use after that is excessive. He didn't say abusive. All parts have a service life, all parts wear, corrode, degrade, etc....nothing lasts forever. Proper maintenance is the key to enjoying "the product" and in this case a Harley....

Thanks Jim. Fact of the matter... it's a shitty design. Under the hood of any car....they employ a rotating idle for the serpentine belt. The primary should have a rotating member as well. Engineering 101

Sounds like you got lucky and have a crank that's within tolerance. Harley Twin Cam cranks are pressed together and it's not at all uncommon for them to have excess runout. The only way I'd go with gear drives is if I have a welded crank.

From what I've seen in several videos, you have to be sure the crankshaft runout is not too great or the gear drive solution will not work.

  • @jamessouthworth1699

@@CPerreault You are exactly right, which is why I did not switch to gear drive. Just because my crank is in spec for a gear drive now does not mean it will stay within that spec.
