Repairing the Transom on a Bass Tracker --Tracker Restoration

The transom came out awesome and 100% recommend. The transom I pulled out was toast and probably would have failed very soon.

I have to say you did an excellent job young man. I’m planning to rebuild the transom on my ‘89 Bass Tracker TXS and I hope it goes as half as good as you made it look. I’ve got more confidence after watching this Thank you for making this video. I think I’m gonna go with a composite transom, but then again, I may just do it exactly the way you did yours with the wood. You’ve got me thinking about restructuring the front and back decks too lol. This is why I love these old Bass Tracker aluminum boats. You can rebuild them the way you want them and they’re just about like new. That is if you don’t have any damage to the aluminum hull, and that’s not beyond repairing either.

You should use a face shield man. Aluminum gunks up cutting disks as well and they can explode. Safety first haha

Looks like you did a great job - mfg did poor engineering to make it that difficult to access and replace wood transom.

It is aswume seeing someone so young doing such a great job. Keep it up. !! That being said you used ply wood that is made for subflooring in a house instead of marine grade ply wich is much better quality. But the resin shold help. Aswume vid.

Mine is starting to give my issues but Im contemplating this rebuild or selling the boat. would you suggest cutting out the cap or cutting the transom from the back and having re-welded. Scared the hull will warp or shift

This boat is sold but I can’t see it failing anytime soon. Only way to make it last forever is to go all aluminum

How did you weld it back with the wood new transom in there? Did the weld burn the new wood you put in there?

  • @DerekRodriguezFish

So I was actually warned about this and how the wood could possibly burn. I sealed it as you saw in the video with a couple coats of epoxy. I had a family friend do the welds and i checked the wood to see if it was good when I got it back and it was. No burns and it’s held up perfectly.

@@DerekRodriguezFish that transom is a bitch. I cannot believe that’s how they design those. Mine was hell getting it off and taking out the transom. Did you have a difficult time lining the holes back up when you put it back on?
