As old as the original home was, soaking it in 6' of water probably rotted the wood base of the house quickly. Looked as though there was a great deal of damage. Probably a much bigger job than George usually takes on, it it was even reparable. Not all offspring would welcome a parent(s) living onsite, or willing to sacrifice space in their home for a separate apartment. Guessing it's at this point Dad's realizing he'll probably never live in his old home again.

I'd love to see what his crew could do with the his grandparents' old home. With all the creativity he has at his services. and there would so much demolishing and rebuilding he'd be in demolition heaven lol. He always does a great job and gets just the right people for each place. It's always nice to see how well they work together and how if they argue it isn't for long or they are able to clip it out anf show that everyone still comes together. wondering though has there ever been someone that wasn't happy with it? even if they pretended to be at the time for the show. I've seen some of the other shows that he revisits some of his favorites and they are still so excited/happy and appreciative for it all. I'd love to see what he could do with mine. But I have no funds of any types and the whole house is pressed /clapboard and no insolation etc the whole house should actually be demolished but don't have anywhere else to go. lol It looks like a shed compared to all these homes. but it is mine, Thanks for all you do.

They are a young couple who care about him and have taken him in but they are entitled to their own life too - I think they care but are being honest - please don't judge unless you're walking in other people's shoes - they are supporting him to get his life back on track which her father needs to and I think would like to do also.

@ulhurusurf club YOU wake up fool! Plenty of families are in morning today because an older loved one who also may have been infirm or forgetful left a pot of grease on the stove, forgot it, and burned the house down! Maybe you should lay off that surfboard oil for a while! FOOL!

@@fancybrooks3156 With all due respect, he is a young man still. 50s is the new 40s. He is neither infirm or forgetful, just has some depression due to what happened and so he needs help to get back on track. His depression is only going to worsen living down there in a basement with no windows (I saw one tiny window). He needs to snap out of it, pull up his socks, sell the old place (even for just the land) and buy another home or a condo, because his family is forcing helplessness upon him.

I know that showers are "economical" both water/space-wise, but does everyone want just a shower? Seriously, I want both, preferably together. I am medically supposed to soak my legs daily, more likely to do it every 3 days or so, and shower every day, but I like the option to bathe when I want, or when I'm sore, swollen, or in pain.

@@b_uppy - It wasn't his house, it was his mother's house, so her grandmother's house that got destroyed and I think it's beyond 'fixing'. Regardless of it being an ancestral home or not, it may be damaged beyond repair and may need tearing down. George To The Rescue does renovations/improvements for people in particular circumstances, they can't just build entire houses for people down on their luck. That said, there are other organizations that do that type of thing such as Habitat for Humanity.
