TOTAL Renovation for Inspirational Marine Veteran with Wet and Moldy Basement | George to the Rescue

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

George Oliphant is in West Orange, New Jersey giving the rescue of a lifetime to the Alamanzar family. After Victor's military serviced, he and his wife Rebecca bought their dream home. After the purchase, they discovered their basement is something straight out of a horror movie.
George to the Rescue rolls up his sleeves to turn this basement from a nightmare to a dream. That being said, this small basement renovation turned into one of the largest projects yet to be seen on George to the Rescue. But with a new laundry room, beautiful mural and a major excavation, the Almanzar family now has a dream basement perfect for a family movie night.

He elevated himself with the assistance of the opportunities that America provides that his home country could not. His drive, sacrifices and work ethic come first. The opportunity to benefit from these three perhaps could only happen in the US.

@@ZachJC44 I was brought up to work for what I want/need. I don't take anything I have for granted. I don't feel I'm owed anything I didn't work for and not knowing what terrible things you believe America guilty of I can't really address your argument. I will take some responsibility in making your generations life way too easy . Maybe some appreciation is called for instead; and now we are back to where we started.

That war had been going on for years and years before our Government started sending the troops over there…. And they started drafting our teenagers!!!!!!! After all that, the troops came home to be spit on and called baby killers 💔😢💔😢💔 I’ll never forget that 💔💔💔 They didn’t choose to go save the South Vietnamese people…..

Whoa... this family is so humble. Victor thank you for taking the oath brother. I was fortunate enough to be born in this country, and had many family members serve, which is why I chose to serve. It humbles me greatly when heros such as yourself come from other countries and choose to serve the United States citizens and country because you want to. I can't tell you how proud it makes me to call ourselves brothers in arms. I truly hope you and your family continue to be blessed and live peacefully!

The entire storyline is beautiful. Being a veteran family, my husband has struggled so much, he served doing the first dessert movement. Life has never been the same for us. The body has a somewhat different ability to show healing than the healing of the mind. The struggle is different for every single person that has or is serving. God Bless and thank you for your service. Thank you George to the Rescue for bringing awareness of the battles, thanks everyone for the contributions given from the heart.

What is so scary about stories like this is to contemplate how many other houses in this poor a state of repair are out there with completely unsuspecting and unprepared owners. This is the ugly downside to the American Dream pushing people to buy a house they cannot afford nor maintain. The cost of this rehabilitation almost certainly far exceeded the value of the property itself. While I am grateful this deserving family was spared, keep in mind that they likely have to pay taxes on the gift of this repair and will remain way over the heads financially. Buying a house is often the biggest mistake most people make. This show is a constant reminder of this.

  • @PonderingStudent

This illuminates one of the few problems I have with this show. It does good, necessary things for a lot of deserving people, but its by definition restricted (at least when helping individual families), to people who own their own house. I can imagine there are a lot of people in the same communities who are in equal, probably even greater, need, but don't qualify because they don't own their own homes. For instance, disabled people are, on average, monetarily worse off than able-bodied people and less likely to be able to afford to buy at home. I suspect there are lots of disabled renters who really need adjustments to their living spaces, but this show can't help them. It's probably missing the most needy of all as a result.

@@PonderingStudent I wasn't even thinking about interior space for renters but you bring up a good point. Theoretically mechanical and structural is taken care of. But since George is about physical repair and upgrading the show by definition only serves homeowners. I don't have a problem with this part as he sometimes helps families that own a home and have a disabled family member. The broader issue involves otherwise healthy, educated adults who get in over the head and are bailed out. Military service should not be a pathway to special treatment. And buying a house with dramatic structural problems without being aware nor having the means to address it should not be rewarded but this show does both. In the end, I appreciate most the episodes where families who have otherwise made decent plans but get thrown the financial, emotional and physical challenges of a disabled child are assisted.

@@BLAB-it5un I realise why the show only serves homeowners and you're right, for a tenant mechanical and structural issues are theoretically already taken care of. However, a landlord is under no obligation to provide adaptations to his property to help a disabled tenant and, since disabled individuals and families with a disabled member are statistically more unlikely than the general population to be able to afford to buy their own homes, there must be many people who could really benefit from such adaptations but don't qualify. I admit I don't really see how the show could realistically get around this problem (require the landlord to sign a contract stating that he won't evict the tenant without good cause for a specified number of years?) and I understand why they don't try - it would at best be complicated, difficult and probably controversial to do. It just bothers me sometimes when I watch to think that they may well be missing the very neediest. As for your issue, I absolutely agree that the episodes I enjoy the most are ones where families with a disabled member are given the adaptations they need to make their lives more bearable. I also agree that some episodes essentially bail out home owners who've made poor purchases and got in over their heads and I enjoy these less, though arguably this is part and parcel of a society that has few protections for renters and holds home ownership to be the ideal, which fits with what you were saying. I absolutely, wholeheartedly agree that service in the military shouldn't be a path to special treatment. The cynical part of me wonders why being willing (indeed volunteering) to kill someone thousands of miles away from your home country, in return for money, should be the grounds for veneration that so many Americans apparently believe it is. Also, since it was the government that asked them to fight, shouldn't the government be the ones helping with things like this afterwards? But I'm not American, so maybe I just fundamentally don't understand the American physche. I'm glad to know another viewer shares some of my reservations though. This show is usually so heartily praised in the comments that it was interesting to see a cogently argued piece of partial dissent.

George that Blue Spruce is way to close to the house it needs transplanted. It looks beautiful now but it will scratched the house and like ours the one we had where we live and there was one when we bought it it was so close but the branches broke during a ice and wind storm and the branches just snapped off luckily away from the house but now we have to remove both of the trees and the needles is a breeding ground for bugs of all kinds.
