Louis is an amazing worker and he's always in high spirits. Great team you two!!!!
I’m watching this with renewed interest after having repairs done (leaky pipe) and discovering that the kitchen ceiling/hobby room floor of our old French farmhouse needs replacement soon. It has held up well for 25 years, but once you know there’s a problem. New joists, flooring, insulation, ceiling incoming. Thanks to you & Dan, I know exactly what we’re facing.
Everybody loves a noggin' Monday ❤😂
You’re doing such a wonderful job. I must be honest I have definitely missed you & Billy uploading but you all deserve a massive rest, not just a few days. Hope you guys had a fantastic few days together. Take care, sending ❤ from the UK.
Nothing beats noggin Monday, with Edd, Louie and, of course Anne behind the camera!!😅❤

Thank you for the noggins Ed. Made a lot of us feel much better, able to face the week with a smile.
Edd, your ability to spatially design and visualize the end plan is enviable. As always, Anna is so positive and gracious!
In Scotland we call them dwangs just thought you’d like to know 😂 doing a great job as usual you work well together. Ann🏴
Edd, and Anna, please make Louis understand what an amazing assistant he is. He is ready with all of the supplies Edd needs, when Edd needs them. Anticipating the needs of his General. 😄 Excellent concept for the stairs Edd. Can’t wait to see them come to fruition.
I am amazed at how far this project has come!!! Building a house never gets dull…such rewarding progress from design to finish !!!❤
Glad you always explain why you do things in a certain way. Many people don’t understand the local building codes in France, and make suggestions that just aren’t allowed ( not because you don’t want to do , or that you haven’t thought of it). 👍🏻👍🏻👏🏻👏🏻🥰
Ed, Anna and (Louis), you make a great team! This is going to be beautiful!! Love and respect from Canada 🇨🇦❤🇨🇦❤🇨🇦❤

I don’t know what you would do without Louie. ❤great team and good humor.
I’m in awe, amazed at what you have been able to accomplish. You reconstructed that house from head to toe. I can’t wait to see the finished product.
Glad you fell in love with that guy, Anna. 💕 Wonderful job guys and nice hearing more about the plans. It will be a wonderful sought-out apartment. However, I think I'm going into flower arrangement withdrawal, Anna. Anytime you feel like putting more of your wonderful creations in a video it would be lovely to see, especially in winter. Love to you and kids. 😊
The build will get more exciting now as we begin to see your vision come to fruition. Louis is a hard worker and a real charmer. Great job filming Anna! 🙏❤️
Great progress, Edd, Anna and Louis!👍
edd and louis are a great team 💪
Noggin day, with Anna's string snap of approval. Activity = progress every day.
Nice that Billy came for a visit. Progress is fantastic! I really like the idea for the windows upside and your plans for the stairs. Hopefully it will work out for a toilet down stairs.
This project is coming along very nicely. All looking good. Hope you all enjoyed your weekend with the Petherick's!!!
shout out to anna filming watching noggins 😘and running the château weddings ♥️
I have to say your channel is one of my favorites. I love Anna and the family. Well okay I love Ed too. LOL
No longer a one man show.. the pair of you put a smile on my face
The noggin's also keep the boards from twisting due to moisture in the air and help cut down on any squeaking in the floor boards.
Anna the boss came for inspection and gave full approval good work boys ! Great video thanks for sharing!
Us chateau lovers find sanity in simple life stuff as opposed to the hectic world happening out there ❤
I cannot cease to be astounded that you and Anna could look a a derelict ruin and see it as a small luxury home. Best wishes as you continue the renovations.
Noggin a lie it was nice to see Edd on The Pethrick’s vlog with Billy. Thanks again for a great video. Always look forward to seeing Ed, Anna, and Louie.
Hey Louis! Put the screw on the bit first, and hold it, then aim where it needs to be. It’s easier than placing the screw and having to aim the heavy drill at the top of the screw. Edd give that man a taller ladder!
Edd, you’re quite the acrobat. You and Louis have such a good working relationship. The joists look very sturdy with noggins installed. I’m beginning to see your vision. Anna, I giggled when you told not to drop because he still had work to do. 😂 I’m craving an antiquing trip again. See you on the next Vlog. ❤

This reminds me, did y'all, Billy, Gwen and all the kids get to go antique and chandelier shopping?
So much done in such a short time, good team work Ed,Louie & Anna! It will be a lovely rental. 🌷
Thank you for showing us noggin with Louis 😂😂 but please buy the lad a set of steps, turns my stomach to see him standing on a patio chair. Love to you all K🇬🇧❤️❤️❤️
Guys, just put a fixed balcony iron (like the front door) railing on the outside of the upstairs doors! That way you can open up the entire door, and still have it be safe and secure! I may have misunderstood your explanation, of your plans for the windows! Thomas!
I certainly hope those were Anna's fingers pulling the chalk line, if not, you got some splaining to do Edd!
That detail where the floor joists come together in the oblique corner looks really interesting!
For what it's worth, I would suggest that you consider using small "Juliette balcony" railings, and have full 3 pane windows. Those single upper windows will be found inadequate at some time in the future
@hilarysmythe9102

Absolutely agree. larger windows will be elegant, a selling point and an outside juliette balcony a clincher for sales appeal and for air movement. It gets hot there air con not the whole issue," through draft "is much more eco firendly.
You and Louis are doing a fantastic job,
In the U.S. the pumps that pump sewage up to the level of the main sewage pipes are called 'sump pumps'. You are quite right in not wanting one for a downstairs loo.
I really enjoy watching both you and Billy channels . Outstanding content.
Regarding the step-up for the toilet room (as you referred to it) make the floor level of the toilet room the same level as one of the steps, that step becoming both the floor and a step of the staircase. So, there would be 2 or 3 steps, then the floor of the toilet room (also the step) continue with those steps until you begin the pie-sliced steps which turn before they begin their final ascent to the 1st floor. Hope that makes sense.
This is really going to be a unique and comfortable space. Looking very good!
In building Stairs, What is known as the " Golden Number" for stairs is a rise of 7" and a run of 11". This is the most comfortable stairway to walk. Generally we try to stay as close to thouse numbers as possible to create a comfortable step. Your stone staircase will be both beautiful and stong. Best, Brian
I hope you manage to get a downstairs loo in! You’re doing a Great Job👍👏👵🏼👏😄🇸🇪
Of course Noggin Monday! What else can it be!
Great work Ed and Louie. It’s a stat holiday today in New Zealand and my husband was watching. He’s a tradie and was watching you moving the ladder and twisting the body every time you but in a noggin. He suggested you straddle a plank between two ladders and that way you can ‘walk the plank’ across the room saving a lot of time.

I saw the windows and thought a Juliet balcony. Doing an amazing job.
Great to see the progress guys always enjoy the banter between you Ed and Louis. Hats off to Anna for the great filming and no doubt editing as well. Cheers 💯🤗💕
Excellent episode! Thank you all very much! Things are looking great! 🥰😊💞💜👍
Noggins love them😂 nice job, though Edd . The staircase sounds fab cannot wait to see how the build goes on that. Loved watching ❤ Edd Anna and Louis❤
Ed, given that you do have some little extra height on the top floor you could put in a mezzanine/loft bed space in one of the rooms. Kids love that and it makes for sleepovers with extra guests. Just a thought xoxoxo

What a difference you’ve made. Well done.
Amazing visual of the space you have cleared , repaired and prepped for finishing ! Well done Louie ! 😊 👍you're OK too Ed!
I did all that for years and it caught up with me and affected my health. I slowed down big time, no more stressing and worrying about everything my health was more important and family!!!👍❤️
You're making exceptional time to get from where you began until now!
The house is looking very good. You and Louis are doing an expert job quickly. Anna is great support and videographer. Hope you had a nice visit with Billy and Gwen. xx
Can't wait til you get some heat in there, Ed looks cold. I'm sure Louis and Anna would appreciate it too. I do enjoy the humor you guys bring to the videos. Oh yes, a loo would be so welcoming I'm sure. Love you all.💙
It’s hard to tell on camera, but in my country you have to have bedroom windows big enough for egress in the case of home fires. Are the tops that will open in the first floor going to be big enough for a person to be rescued during a fire? This whole build is so exciting!! It’s going to be lovely!!! I’d love to see the inside very modern for a juxtaposition against the beautiful old stone. Don’t overwork you three!!! (Yeah, right, that’s gonna happen!!)😂😅😂 I admire you all!!!!

I doubt that they have to widen every window when they renovate old buildings in Europe or the UK, they usually have to keep them as is, especially in the UK if it is a listed building.

In the town the passion project is in, at the time of construction Edd explained there aren’t any window requirements.
You did the test like you were 20 something with such agility.😬
Hi Edd it’s starting to take shape now ,Ann uk ❤️❤️🇬🇧🇬🇧
Maybe you have a look at floorplans of tiny houses. Or small row houses in Germany. They somehow manage to put a toilet under the stairs. Even camper vans have space saving solutions. Besides that I love to watch your energy, style, love and respect for the old pre-loved things.
You can’t beat a noggin Monday especially as Louis has dropped in to slot in the said noggin ❤
Yaay! Noggins Mondays!
Great job on the floor structure. Nice to see Anna’s beautiful face!
Noggin install may be repetitive process, but it is strangely satisfying.👍🏻🥰
Starting to take its shape now….. 👏👏
That floor will last for many many years.😊👍
I ve been doing noggins all day here in calamity cottage. Unfortunately my joists aren't spaced regularly. So each one has to be measured and cut seperatly. The place was built without them . And the floor lifts and falls and screeches at you as you walk across it . Looking forward to getting it done and nice new floor down. . Great work guys. Hi from Ireland 🇮🇪

@@merrileeheard3889 it wasn't always called that ... Its what it ended up being called .... One disaster after another .. . Like my brothers car it evolved . For a second there when you were rolling up the chalk line I thought you were going to reenact the spaghetti scene from Lady and the Tramp lol
Nice job, The future owner will appreaciate your quality workmanship. In the US we call this Cross Blocking. It prevents the floor Joists (Beams) from twisting as you note and makes the floor less likley to bounce. Typicaly Cross blocking put in after the joists are set is done with the blocks (noggins) staggered on opposite sides of the center line. This way there is no struggle to fasten the ends through the Joist (beam). I recall many bloddy knuckles from nailing by hand into the joist gaps... Best, Brian
the Double Trouble is back again
Good morning. Good to see you guys again.😊👍
I’m looking forward to how you build your stairs, we will be in need of doing the same thing in our farmhouse in Brittney. I hope that you, Edd, Anna and children had a great weekend with Billy, Gwendolyn and the boys. It’s so nice that you all had some down time to enjoy each other’s company. 😊
had to giggle to myself when you and loui were marking the straight line, then you winding back up the reel, it reminded me of the scene in lady and the tramp where they were eating the spaghetti and both lady and the tramp were on either end of a piece of spaghetti, arrrrhhhh so adorable lol.
Well done.good teamwork.
Well, I have used waste water pump solutions (Sanibroy) in two of my previous properties, one for a toilet and one for a whole bathroom in the sub-basement space. I never had any significant problems with these installations. On the other hand, you have to plan for shut-off valves (for the best automatic) towards the public sewage system since you are in an area which can have flooding. A first one for the whole house - then, inside you have the branches of the first and the base floor evacuations - then, on the branch which goes to the basement a second valve to avoid that waste water from the first floor spills into the basement if the first valve is closed.
The staircase is going to be nice when you get it built.👍😊
“What can we see out of the rectangle window today Geoffrey”
I assume this small, unheated room is what we call a "powder room" in America for nicety sake, but possibly a wall-hung heater could be installed used as needed? Or maybe the French are tougher than we are!! More power!
BEST WISHES TO YOU
Wow, sure beginning to see your plan coming together now! Getting exciting now!
Wow! Good progress, in the States we use L shaped metal to join those two pieces together
Be safe, careful and get some rest.😊👍🙏
This building looks so very sad ... You all are going to give it a totally new life, so much better than it ever was. Can't wait to see it finished. All the very best to you all and so glad Louie is Edd's right hand man! lol lol you two are awesome! and so much fun. In go the NOGGINS!!! I learned about noggins watching Dan restoring his burned out Chateau ... lol lol many of us love watching noggins installed!!! lol
I LOVE the staircase plan. Wow, Ed! Is there anything you can’t do?? 😊

Make the room that’s cold a cool room
Have you decided on the stairwell landing and hallway on the top floor? Also, perhaps you can discuss your choices for kitchen cabinets, fixtures, and appliances...in addition to the look of the bathroom.
Youve really come along,looks great.
It’s fascinating to see how you build in France with all the concrete and the difference of how we build in Alaska. In Alaska we have earthquakes.
