16:24 It’s starts here. As a Christian, I’m just very confused as to how the Lord led you to denounce a *whole* college. 1. A simple google search will tell you that the founders were never together, neither did they get married. I’m not too sure where you got this information from. 2. A simple search on their website denotes their motto as: our whole school for Christ” and their tagline is “a choice to change the world”. No where did they ban the mentioning of Christ. 3. “The wake up” just sounds like an ice breaker. Also, you saying Jesus doesn’t work at night is erroneous. “He who watches over Israel never sleeps nor slumbers”. (4) about your departing process, you weren’t even specific about what you went through and you just glossed over it smh 5. Yes the hymn sounds like it’s giving praise to the organization, so does every hymn colleges have. The difference here is that the college is founded off CHRIST. 6. You keep mentioning a convenant with a spirit? Which spirit? I’d give you this point if the college was based on a different god (like the D9 with them having Greek/ Egyptian God’s attached to their rituals). But the college was based on Christ. Hence their motto. 7. At most graduation ceremonies, women wear white. Heck, I wore white at mine. Do I need to denounce my degree and university now? On their website, pretty self explanatory: “The obligatory commitment for each Spelman student to have a “respectable and conservative” white dress was established around 1900. During this period, a white dress was the attire most often used for formal occasions. This tradition established a uniformed appearance among those present and denoted the significance of the occasion or event” 8. Walking under the arch is literally the same as graduates being paraded around for people to congratulate them smh that happens at every school! 9. God forbid buildings were built to hold their integrity for years! Just look at Europe and Asia, let’s renounce them because their architects were so skilled! Anyways, if I kept going this list would be too long. I truly believe that sometimes we think God is talking to us but he really isn’t. I also hold my opinions against the D9 but this is so ridiculous. It undermines people that have denounced the D9 for legitimate reasons fueled by their convictions from the Holy Spirit by the Word. Anyways I’ll ask you, did you return your degree?

As an active Christian that graduated from Spelman College and participated in Christian ministries and the church on Spelman's campus (s/o Esther's Circle!), I strongly disagree with the views on this video. If anything, our school is very God and Christ rooted. *Clears throat and fixes hair 💁🏾‍♀️* Let me give my Spelman-type analysis... 1. Spelman College changing their motto is NOT DENYING their beliefs but EMBRACING ALL because everyone that attends Spelman has differing beliefs. This doesn't change the fact that it was founded with Christian principles and still has Christian based opportunities on campus to grow your faith. 2. Spelman College isn't like going to a nun or preacher training Christian institution, this is an accredited liberal arts college open for everyone to further their education. If you are seeking a school to prepare you for that, you have to attend a Bible college, as it is the wrong expectations here. Its like going to Burger King and expecting McDonald's French fries. 😂 3. All schools practice traditions, not just Spelman, and the traditions are not demonic, which is a REACH in terminology, including simply saying goodbye to your family and friends before starting your college journey (which Spelman doesn't prevent you to stay in contact with your loved ones 🤯). This is just an event done to commemorate the occasion in the unity of parents and guardians, versus parents simply dropping you off at your dorm room and leaving. Just because one person did something off with water, doesn't speak about the whole institution. 4. The Wakeup is a fun way to get all the students together and to bond. There are no demons involved. We are simply saying our names AT A CHURCH during freshman orientation. Also, God works at all times so that's debunked. 5. The Spelman hymn is just an uplifting motto, like saying the pledge of the allegiance to the American flag, or a pep rally motto, and for college encouragement & unity. No one FORCES you to sing the song as well... 6. Wearing the white dress is actually a positive way for students , faculty and staff to all be in accordance with one another - as Spelman's colors are blue and white. We just so happened to all wear white rather than blue smh... 7. Rockefeller supported Spelman FINANCIALLY and Spelman continues to get financial support with those of differing faiths, with Spelman still being founded by women who were Christian. Honestly , it shouldn't matter what their faith was nor their sexual orientation, of doing something positive for Black females, and all females, in growing their education and occupational careers. America was also founded with secular beliefs but I'm still a Christian here in America. Just saying 🤷‍♀️ Being quick to label something as demonic, jumping to conclusions and manipulating scriptures that are out of context, is very dangerous. Its giving Westboro Baptist Church 🙄😅There are things founded in America that isnt all biblical - so will you flee the nation? Starting to pigeon hole everything around you as demonic is actually what the demons want - to make you fearful and not move forward with great opportunities, because you'll start nitpicking everything including the clothes you wear. Sounds like this young lady also had a bad experience with her grades and now speaking ill about an extremely encouraging college. I urge this KZreadr to do her research, be more understanding of differing cultures and backgrounds, and get resources from those outside of her circle. 🙏🏾💙🤍💙🤍 P.S. Sounds like she's called for ministry and I urge her to go do Peace Corps, go to a college focused on preparing for ministry, etc. Also, using the term "renouncing". 🤪 No one is forcing you to go to Spelman College, so you can't rebound something that you are inheriting or being forced to.

It’s dangerous to spread propaganda like this based on YOUR own personal experiences. And to place over-bearing religious beliefs and practices on a whole institution that has been for the betterment of black women and the black community for years is not ok in our current climate. It seems more like you’re taking the journey of finding yourself and you’re trying to place the bad or uncomfortable things that came from that on Spelman. Thats just not ok… And God put it in my heart to leave this comment just in hopes that you can see that for yourself.

I commend you for your obedience to God. You were courageous for Christ in doing so. You were also very polite in your delivery and tried not to be offensive. You've done your part. Now let the Holy Spirit do His. An interesting question for those who disagree is, if you've never practiced, studied, seen, or identified witchcraft, sorcery, or demonic rituals, etc., how can you be so sure that a thing is not such? The best way to get most of us to go along with something is to put God somewhere in it. Do you really even want to question it to know for sure? If so, sincerely pray and ask God to reveal the truth to you. I do know that people who say they are disciples of Christ or Christians should not be here attacking you this way. We are commanded by God to LOVE.

Angelise, you seem incredibly sweet, and I just want to commend your obedience to God/ what you felt like He was revealing to you. I’ll say this, as a Christian + freshman on campus, I still remember till this day the discomfort I felt with the Spelman hymn. From the beginning line to the ending. And just a few months ago, I was reflecting on the words, and felt convicted that I ever participated in singing it. I genuinely had to repent before God. Just as you mentioned, my life belongs to God. He’s the only thing I’m trying to be faithful to throughout all of eternity lol. Not Spelman/any institution. I don’t necessarily agree with every point you made, but I don’t feel the need to dissect those things. Just wanted to commend you and share my own discomfort with the hymn. But if any of your other points are valid, I pray the Lord would reveal it to me, as I want to be in alignment with whatever His standard is❤️.

While I can appreciate your walk with Christ, blaming Spelman, and the "demonic stronghold" behind the school, for you almost flunking out of school seems very asinine to me. The reason why you flourished in the program(s) after Spelman is because you knew how to manage your time better because you were juggling multiple things. Also, the word "praise" can be translated in to "celebrate" "congratulate" or "admire". I'm an HBCU graduate and these "rituals" and "superstitions" you speak of are just traditions of the institution, nothing more. We have our convocations/gatherings, even football games where The Lord is at our forefront. I know you were speaking of your experience at Spelman but, The University of Georgia has their arch on their campus and they say you won't receive your degree if you walk under it as a current student and after graduation you can walk under it, is that still "demonic" or is it "tradition"? I definitely don't want to speak against your walk, but I truly pray you continue to seek Christ, and not just listen to anyone or anything because it sounds good to you. Godspeed 💙

You can't even remember the things that were said. My question is since you are renouncing Spelman are you giving back your degree? Will you no longer reference it on your resume? Do you know why biblical people did not work at night - because they could not see at night. The scripture about while men slept his enemies came and sowed tears among the wheat and went his way - but weren't you all woken while men slept, thus preventing the enemy from coming to sow those tears? And for the record men sleep at all hours, especially those who let their guard down and choose to rest, while they should be at work. And they did not know what time a spirit would arrive - but did not Christ say in Matthew "But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only. I could keep going, but I'mma stop. Like your Spelman Blue turtle neck though.

I dont think she is wrong... and I do believe there are rituals at PWIs especially the illustrious ones. but in her defense she didnt attend those schools so how can she speak on it.... in addition, she is prefacing that the Lord has been revealing things to her and I believe she is making this video for anyone "with ears to hear". All this to say, we live in the world and most of the institutions, shows we watch, music we listen to, if we aren't vigilant enough, we can be letting spirits that are not of Christ into our lives unknowingly but willingly.

The Lord did not tell her to make this: there are multiple easily refutable errors. Several people wrote out lists pointing out the facts she got wrong. Saying the motto is changed when it hasn’t. Saying the D9 were all from Howard when they aren’t. Saying the founders were lesbian when they weren’t. Ascribing the white dresses to weddings when 1- when the reason for the tradition is right on the website and 2- white is a traditional graduation dress color for women’s high schools and colleges and so many other false things she said. I won’t even get into the misuse of Scripture. Bottom line, God is not the author of lies. If God gave her this message, her facts would have been straight. A few Google searches could’ve kept her from saying multiple things that can clearly be refuted.

White is not only associated with a wedding dress. Did all people in the Bible wear white for wedding ceremonies?

Exactly! White is symbolic of the first graduates of Spelman who could only afford white fabric, paying homage to ancestry and history.

Thanks for sharing your perspective and experience. I went to a PWI so have no direct experience with HBCUs. I have renounced and denounced the sorority I was in covenant with. Regardless of what others say, keep your focus on your assignment. Time is short and life is precious. Some will seek and find others will deny and even attack - that’s between them and God. Continue to use your voice as God directs you. Seek Him and let Him use you young lady. 🙏🏾🙏🏾

Girl, most of the buildings are not original. Many have been demolished and new ones added. Chadwick is no longer there, Upton is no longer there. Read Hall is now the Wellness Center, HH and Manley are being demolished. A new building is being build to replace the Fine Arts building, The Suites, LLC I, LLC II, Cosby are all newer buildings. Manley has not always been on the campus. The Science Center is new. Yes, some building have been renovated but not all. I imagine there are other buildings that I am not aware of that have been torn now. Gril good by.

Few points because I watched the full video: 1. Girl Jesus works around the clock! 😭 My God doesn't work on a time schedule of only working during the day😭 2. No one was summoning a spirit just because they woke students up early…. Saying your name & where you are from is just you introducing yourself 3. Everyone praises a whole bunch of things…. Friends, family, favorite sports teams, children, grades, graduation that doesn't mean you are demonic for doing such. 4. Spelman Hymn: our school crest says “our whole school for christ” it was talking about God in the hymn, if you interpreted it differently that's on you but that doesn't mean I’m worshipping God or putting Spelman above God. 4. Singing in a group: many people go to concerts and sing together by hundreds or thousands does that makes them demonic too? 5. People wear white dresses all the time prior to getting married, doesn't mean that you are spiritually getting married😭 Spelman isn't the only institution that requires white dresses does that make the whole world demonic for having a dress code?! 6. Spelman is an academic institution that has ceremonies promoting sisterhood, and if you worship the school above God that is you but it's not above God for a lot of us. 7. It seems like you might've had a hard time and just did not like the institution & don't like Greek life because you didn't meet the requirements. But it’s crazy to renounce or use a very specific Christian niche that tries to use the Bible to specifically say a certain message 😭 glad you are doing what is right for you but this video was crazy, hopefully you denounced your degree too. I wish you all the best & God bless 🤍.
