    Normal is a bit different to what you described. The resulting render pass is a combination of your meshes' surface normals and the texture normals you put onto them (and whatever you do in your shaders). It's basically a vector with 3 components, where x,y,z are represented in the r,g,b channels. That's why x is red, z is blue, etc.

    Awesome video Jose! Some of this I learned from your Ancient Dungeon tutorial but there are so many extra good ideas here. I’ve been using a lot of stuff I’ve learned from your videos to level up from a strictly 2D approach to a mixed workflow. At the moment it’s taking me about 2-3 days to get to a final result including my 3D layout process. The results are good but it feels a little slow. Just wondering how long you give yourself to do a finished piece like the one in this video, not including the initial kit build, but from 3D layout to final painting?

  • @ArtofJoseVega

    @ArtofJoseVega

    3 жыл бұрын

    heyy great question.... well if i dont count the 3d kit and making the 3d scene.... so from the render to the final painting... it would be about a day or less..... most of the time is mostly creating the 3d kit and building the scene up

    @@ArtofJoseVega Thanks for the quick reply. I'm trying to get down to a similar time. My last piece took about 1.5 days for 3D and just over 1 day for paint, but sometimes the 3D slows me down more. Looking forward to your courses!

    @@ArtofJoseVega The tutorial was indeed on the Wingfox site and I've bought it, but all of the assets keep crashing Blender. I did Blenders benchmark tests on my rig and they were fine (I'm running an RTX 2080Ti and a Ryzen 9 5900x with 32G of RAM), and Blender and all of my addons are up to date, so I'm wondering if it's a problem with the asssets being old files.
