Renault Trafic Camper Van Conversion - Van Tour
Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль
This is my Renault Trafic Camper Van Conversion Van Tour. It is a LWB Renault Trafic and the van conversion took me about 4 weeks to do. This is a camper van or a day van. It's a little cramped for full blown van life but is great for weekends and day trips.

Yeah there is a lot more room with this layout, I tryed one with a rock and roll bed but the fold out is much easier.
Absolutely lovely ! ❤

Nice going, Dave. Very useful series of vids. I never finished the build of my L3 H3 Vaux Movano [Reno Master] I kept using it for removals. I have decided to go smaller - Trafic/Vivaro day+ van. One problem I have is that most of the interior will have to be demountable because here in France, where I live, self-build campers cannot pass the 'Controle Technique' - the FR MoT. 😫. The good news is that the FR 'MoT' is every two years.

I have done a lot of searching on You Tube over the last several months for a Vauxhall Vivaro and I think Dave's has to be my favourite of the lot for just a simple, basic comfortable set up. Just got my Vivaro and will be copying a few of Dave's ideas 🙂

Pop top on the next build maybe? Theres a company....dreamtech/van lidz just behind wickes that sell them/fit them apparently but a DIY is what the cool kids do. Great work, keep the videos coming.

Dave, another lovely van! I wonder if you have a 'shopping list' for your electrical system? It's just what I need for my 2016 trafic. I would happily pay for said list. Also, it's great to see how close you are to 1000 subscribers, you deserve many more.

Looking great love that skylight that's what I'm doing in mine, makes such a difference i think. Is there a drop out vent for that gas cylinder? I'd definitely recommend one. On my current build I'm doing a bed cross ways above the wheel arches it means you have to make cubby holes into the wall to get the length for a 6ft person but it means you can have a permanent bed inside without losing the length of the van to the bed. cheers.

Hi Dave, Just come across your channel and it was right down my street and might give me the push to do this. Cost was keeping me back but this is a lovely conversion at a budget price. Can you give your honest opinion on using this van with height restrictions or no pop top. Pop tops are so much money but worried that height restrictions might be problem. Many thanks
@dave-watson
Жыл бұрын
Hi Peter, The in this sort of van is about 130cm. I've not found it a problem, I can reach the cooker and sink while sitting on the bench so I don't have to stand up to cook. Also the seating height is okay with a little headroom. Having said that I do not live in the van and use it mainly weekends and days out. It may get a little claustrophobic over a longer period, but there is always the option of a side door tent. Hope that helps.
Hi Dave, Brilliant. Simple, functional elegant. I live in France and would like to make it my project for next year. How do you rate the trafic? I think I would be keen on the shorter wheelbase version. I would not use it for the winter but for 3 or 4 day breaks at other times - how does it cope with hotter days and cooler nights?

Hi Mike, The traffic seemed good to me, I only had the van for a couple of months while I converted it and sold it on. But it seemed like a solid van. So long as you insulate the van well it should be good both ways. I used the shredded up plastic bottle insulation and it seems to be good. Hope that helps and thanks for watching.
Love this layout looks amazing! What are the dimensions of the L bed and kitchen? It looks perfect size
@dave-watson

Thanks a lot Billy, The bed was 195cm long and about 120cm wide, and that left about 42cm in width to get the kitchen in. Thanks for watching.

I have a video covering some stuff on the electrics I did in a Vivaro. kzread.info/dash/bejne/kaOty5qJmLSdoJM.html But also there is a bloke called Greg Virgoe who has a number of videos on youtube and he explains the electrics in detail.

I found it surprisingly straightforward. I put a 400mm and a 500mm Fiamma roof-lights in my Movano. The 500 mm one had to go where the roof is ribbed - I did the 400mm first and used up the only flat section for that. ☹ But building up the 'valleys' between the ribs with Sikaflex worked. Both hatches were watertight.
How does the extra weight from your conversion effect the mpg?
