I watch a lot of Clio you tube videos, and this is by far the best, most comprehensive and knowledgeable breakdown of the car I love. Great video, really excited about continuing work on my PH2 172 and will now watch your build playlist. In terms of future content idea, it sounds like you have so much knowledge and experience it’s working with these cars that amateurs like me need and don’t have the confidence to tackle. For example, I had mine running with the bonnet up a few days ago and was thinking “Jesus that sounds like a diesel” and I know my cam belt hasn’t been done for many years now, so that and the pulley you mentioned I would love to know more.

Hi Darren, thanks for your comment and glad you enjoyed the video 👍 The dephaser pulley has sadly been a weak point on these engines when I was working on them 6-7 years ago, thankfully if your getting your cam belt changed (5 years or 72k life - which ever comes sooner) you can do the pulley at the same time with no labour cost. Still a few more videos to come on the 172 Cup 😎

Either an inferno as I admire their rarety ; or a 172 cup as I want it for track and I love the idea of the proper cups. Hi, glad you enjoyed the video 👍 The knowledge comes from many many hours tinkering 😂 in fact we shall have a Clio 200 on the channel very soon and hopefully be able to give it a run again against the 172 Cup (not completely fair with mine having a slight weight advantage lol) agreed, the 182 Trophy had the potential to have been the best but personally the recaro trend lines & Sachs dampers were hardly game changing although nice for the collectors Ps, go for the Cup if it’s an all out track car (granted the aircon is handy on the summer track outings 🙈)

Fitted Good year asymmetric 2, a good all round tyre. A jmrs induction kit, which you can hear on my channel sounds amazing, should have come like that as standard. Only sold due to family circumstances. I'd have it back tommorow. My advice, don't buy a cheap one. Love the channel.

Stone Automotive yes DC2 residuals are very strong now as clean original cars are in short supply. Many are either rotten &/or have been modded poorly. Given how good the original offering is- it’s so so easy to make them worse with badly thought-out mods. My own is strictly OEM+, looks stock but a few tweaks under the skin. Re-bushed & trick dampers. The drive belies it’s age & the B18C still a great engine

Hi James, love your videos, been following your journey for quite a while now! I do apologise for asking for internet mechanic advice, but hoping your magnitude of knowledge and experience can help! I've had my Clio 182 FF for just over a year now; for the longest time it was amazing, incredibly enjoyable to drive, and reliable, started every time; however i've been suffering for quite a while now with it deciding it just doesn't want to start intermittently but more often than not (classic symptoms of the TDC/crank sensor) - just cranking over when you turn the key but engine not starting, took it down to Birchdown (saw they were highly recommended online, but a bit of a trek away) and got the crankshaft sensor along with connection (blue connector) and associated loom part replaced, and it worked brilliantly for a week or two before the issue started again :( Was stuck in the tescos/work carpark trying to start it for an hour+ on multiple occasions before I decided to bite the bullet and get a more reliable car for daily. Currently cooped up stuck in the garage, any advice on what steps to take next with him before I start chucking money into something that might not be worth it? Appreciate any advice x

Hi Kyle, I’m London/ Heathrow based but don’t offer repair/ servicing/modifying at this time (just tinker with my own cars these days) with regards to the remap issues it’s worth speaking to Engine Dynamics based in Essex as they will be able to revert your car to standard ECU calibration.

Now in a two Bob Ford Focus at the moment. Being a grown up sucks. You clearly can’t have kids With all your toys in the garage. • @stoneautomotive

Personally I think people get caught up on too many owners, sure it’s nice to have a low owner car but think about it like this - you could have a 3 owner car from new, the current keeper does regular oil changes, warms it up correctly & keeps it clean etc but then you have the first 2 owners that abused it from cold, stretched service intervals etc.. for me if the service history stacks up it wouldn’t put me off. My e46 M3 has 11 owners from new which would be deemed a lot for the age but I’ve owned it nearly 5 years now

@@stoneautomotive I'm with you, I think a lot of people tend to buy them as a toy and then dispose after a few months to a year. One other concern, is it being tracked previously, so its had some stick at some point. Opinions?

If it’s had hard/track use I would certainly take it for a good run and check no crunching from the gearbox syncro’s, they have been known to drop valve heads & bottom end engine failure but not always track cars
