You're spoiling us, two reviews in one day. I'm a fan of Renault and this does not disappoint, sleek machine. Looking forward to the EV version review.

I've moved into a Valencia orange RS Line Arkana from a blue Kadjar. I've had 8 previous Renaults and the Arkana has been a huge leap forward in every sense. It's astonishing! From the drive and handling to the amazing turning circle, it's more practical, comfortable and refined, plus it's way more fun to drive. I can't find android auto, but tech was never my strong point, and mine doesn't have paddles, I'm very happy to say! A week of varied journeys, and about 300 miles driven and I'm averaging 50mpg. I'm very, very happy.

Thanks for the review. Have pre-ordered top of range RS - one of the first batch about to arrive in the UK. Replacing our Captur. Test drive convinced us.

The orange is fab. Goin for test drive tomorrow in hybrid etech one. Never had Renault before.

Picked up my rs line e-tech hybrid model last Thursday. Absolutely amazing car. Lil bit less boot space on the e tech due to battery placement.

I really like this car, very nice interior compared to past Renault's. Car has a BMW X4 type design from the back.

Steering sharp, R.S trim (lower), mild hybrid version (lighter). Covered the handling a little later in the video.

Megane on steroids? Overgrown saloons and hatchbacks. The latest trick. It does look well though. Good review.

Great review as ever Nobby, I've been itching to hear your thoughts since I heard the Arkana was coming to the UK & Ireland as I hoped you'd get one on the show. Do you think you'll do a review of the e-tech version?

I know there was a diesel in the Eastern Europe version which tho' it looks the same uses a different chassis so regrettably as much as I really like it as there's no diesel I don't think it'll be for me tho' I would still like to know your thoughts on the hybrid nonetheless. It's interesting to hear your thoughts on the colour as the one you test drove is the same colour as my Kadjar. The other thing I found odd was no manual gearbox plus in the case of the hybrid it only has 145hp whereas in the Mégane tho' it's plug in the system is still the same and it has 160hp, I can't understand why they detuned the hybrid version. Top job on the review nonetheless tho' and I look forward to the hybrid review in due course.

Great review, it's a good looking car but I feel the rear is slightly awkward 🤔

To be honest I can see why people would buy the car but all the negatives that you said about the car are the most important things for me as a car driver, it's a shame they don't do a 180bhp diesel version for that price I would be looking for a bmw range of car, love the looks but hate everything about it

@NobbyOnCars I've bought one a month ago, brought it back because of the noise, was told they have 3 arkanas in stock all making the same noise and that its normal, would not be happy driving my new, well 2022 arkana making that noise all the time. Its very annoying listening to it when wheel is fully locked and am reversing in or driving out of a driveway or parking space 🤔

I have a Megane Mk4 and unfortunately all I see now in the entire Renault range is they all look the same. I know one thing though, mine is a 1.6 Dci with 170Bhp, won't be letting go of it any time soon.

Could have easily called it the Megane Cross Coupé!

It's called Megane Conquest in Croatia or any other country on Balkan.

My sister is buying one of these. Something that bugged us when we looked at it. The brochure shows a 10 inch tft display in the RS model but it isn't available at launch. Instead they have the 7 inch display with analogue instruments on either side. It's a shame because the European version of the car has the fully configurable 10 inch display, which looks nicer. Maybe the issue only applies to RHD models.

Could be shortage issues going on too, there's a lot of brands doing reduced options/spec or offering to retro fit bits once delivered.

@@NobbyOnCars yes that's what I thought. My wife pulled out of a car purchase last year because they couldn't guarantee what spec she was getting. The spec was downgraded from the order and she'd paid a deposit. Important safety features are being skipped because the manufacturers can't get the parts.

Nice but all cars especially SUVs look the same. Like my Duster great price and the styling stands out.

Why have paddle shifters when they are nit used?

They claim you'll get 4L/100kms, it didn't get a chance to do a proper run to be fair to it but 4 does seem optimistic.

Looks a tidy car

I liked one enough to have a test drive in one. What put me off was no rear wiper and I know at speed the window will keep clear but when parked near trees and the usual bird droppings arrive with no way to clean the screen. Also I am not a fan of black alloys, don’t see the point of a nice design that you can’t see. Lack of power tailgate also put me off. Compared to my Peugeot 3008 GT Line Premium it just falls short and not all us disabled folk can reach high to shut the boot plus the dashboard isn’t up to comparison really. I was surprised that it’s was actually longer than my 3008. Lovely car and nice to drive but, not for me.

Nothing about ride quality / comfort

Start / stop function in heavy traffic is a bit clunky. If I had the car longer I would be looking to turn that off. Horizon on the dash super tacky. Very nice to drive, but underpowered.

I’m very anti Renault I’m afraid, I think their quality is shocking. Ive have three of them, and the Clio was the only one that stayed out of the dealership more often than not. My last was a Koleos last year, ended up handing it back as they couldn’t fix it.

Oh dear. I'm old so I've lost count of the number of new cars I've owned but it's a lot. However there has been an unusual gap of 7 years since the last new car and I have been looking at a replacement. Nothing fits. Nothing appeals. What has happened??? This car is just awful. I have recently bought a new Nissan NV400 van which at least retains some features that I like but the overall quality is poor. I'm being forced to buy an older well looked after car. Oh well, it's probably better for the planet

Car is beautiful but that colour ist awful

Yet another wedge with a droopy mouth and creases and lights reminiscent of Transformer toys. The blind spots on this and the C4 are not mitigated by camera info because the human brain deals with spatial awareness from the driver's axis. Therefore the blind spots are dangerous. Re drivetrain, Toyota and Honda mastered hybrid early and have refined it ever since with reliability stats which Renault has no chance of approaching.

Not at all the Renault Arkana was already in concept waaaaaay before the x4 came out

I just don’t see the point of buying these dinosaurs when EVs are available at a similar price. The new Megan EV offers loads of space and tech, will be miles cheaper to run and is going to be far kinder to the planet than these lumbering fossils. OK, there a wait for it to arrive but why not look at an Ioniq 5 or an EV6 if you like this car’s styling?

In some cases, it's cost. Yes the Ioniq 5 and EV6 will be available for a bit more but to get similar spec, you're talking a lot more. If I was buying a car with my own money tomorrow though, I agree with you about electric.

I would love to go EV, but the price difference between ICE and EV is still not inconsiderable. A similar specced Megane EV is going to cost a lot more than this.

I agree, the price difference are still too high when compared to EV. Also, to mention that you will constantly rely on charge points along the road.. EV might be good but only for exclusive urban trips.

It's such a dreadful design, neither fish nor fowl. The BMW X6 has a whole lot to answer for.

The ugliest car I've seen in a long time ....it looks like they got lazy and just jacked up a fluence and said that will do ...awful
