Such a beautiful reaction. They call us Renegades and you belong with us. Ren was severely disabled with Lyme disease , misdiagnosed for 7 years, given the wrong drugs and told it was in his head. He sings now as a companion and advocate for the mentally and physically chronically ill . Really is a true genius. He has songs from those years called,Depression, Insomnia, Everybody Drops. Etc. My current favorite is Hold On. You will love Chalk Outlines live with Chinchilla. Si many good songs! I'd love to give you a hug. Just know that you have love and support out here from the Renegades.

Beautiful reaction. This song has healing properties. Ren has a go fund me for for treatment he's currently getting in Canada. He will end up spending almost all of 2023 there. It was so successful he is no longer taking donations. But he does tell his story there. Here it is: "It's really difficult for me to begin writing this as I take a lot of pride in my ability to look after myself and find it very difficult to ask for help. ` For those of you who have followed my story for a while you will know i've had ongoing battles with a chronic health problem since I was 19 years old. I can't even really scratch the surface on what it was like to loose most my early 20s to debilitating mysterious health problems that left me trapped in my bed with debilitating pain and neurological issues. I felt like I missed out on so much of what where meant to be the years of my life where I was growing up and discovering what it meant to be an adult. While friends were starting families, starting careers, socialising, I spent most of it inside the four walls of my bedroom, too tired and weak on most days to leave my bed. In crippling amounts of pain. This wasn't days or weeks, it was years. By my mid twenties I resigned to the fact I wouldn't live to see the age of 30. I spent years trying to get answers, bouncing from doctor to doctor, only for them to scratch their heads and leave me with the diagnosis of M.E. During this time I tried countless medical treatments, and when they failed, resorted to alternative health practitioners, spiritual healing practices, thousands of supplements, but just kept getting sicker and sicker. With each treatment that failed, my hope for a normal life would die a little more. In 2015 after suffering a huge crash, weighing only 8 stone and going through months of stress induced psychosis, I ended up raising enough money to see a specialist in Brussels, who ran extensive testing and finally diagnosed me with Lyme disease. The problem was it had been misdiagnosed for so long that it had caused irreversible damage to my immune system, and even after treating the Lyme I was left mostly disabled, with no way out. The only thing that really kept me going at this time was my love for music. In my last ditch effort to feel like my existence mattered I started video blogging from my bed. I felt like if I was going to die, at least shining a light on a terribly misunderstood and misdiagnosed condition would have counted for something. kzread.info/dash/bejne/rICF1ruDlrDTZM4.html What I didn't know at the time was that giving back in that way would save my life. Purely by chance a stem cell doctor found my videos online and offered me a free stem cell transplant, if I could make my way to LA. He told me this would help rebuild my immune system and make me strong enough to live a relatively normal life. After reading the email in shock, I booked a flight to Los Angeles that same week. I come from a poor family so the cost of this kind of treatment (in the hundreds of thousands) was never in the realms of something I thought would be possible. A family going through the same treatment put me up in their house, and I went through a gruelling 6 weeks of various intravenous medical treatment to build my body up to be strong enough to go through with the operation. At this point i was already so weak and underweight from spending years trapped in bed. Finally, sure enough, I was strong enough, and the procedure went through without a glitch. I returned home weak, but hopeful. Sure enough, bit by bit, my body started responding to treatment and after very rocky year, I started feeling strong enough to leave my house, start going to the gym, socialise, and eventually return to a career in music. It honestly was more than I could have ever asked for. I honestly can't explain what its like to be given a second chance at life when you resign to dying in your twenties. With my new found energy I started pouring myself entirely into music, and through the grace of whatever higher power may be out there too, did damn good at it as well. Videos of me performing with my friend Sam started going viral all over the internet, in my first year as an active member of society I'd signed songs to major record labels, started a band, and sold out every single concert I ever put on. The issue was I still wasn't well. I'd still find myself easily exhausted, at night i'd still feel the familiar aches and pains in my bones, and still had a lot of neurological issues that left me intermittently confused and depressed. The stem cell transplant also did come with some unfortunate side effects. Because my immune system was so over-reactive at this time I developed allergies to about 95% of the foods that I can eat, a condition called Mast Cell Activation Disorder. For the past 6 years or so of my life my diet has consisted of just a few vegetables and meat, which I have to prepare myself, without being able to eat out at restaurants. Despite this I could be an active member of society. I could live. For years i've tolerated living in a sick body, because despite my pain I was still able to push through and make music which was more than I could have dreamed. However, I know, deep down, if I try I can uncover a whole new layer of healing. I know this because i've seen others do it. I know it because I went from barley able to stand up to take a shower to being able to perform to rooms full of thousands of people. I know if I try hard enough I can get to an ever stronger and better place. For the past few years I didn't want to try because after nearly a decade of being sick I couldn't face the heartbreak of trying various medical treatments without it working, or in some instances in my past, making me worse... But life is too short, and I, and everybody going through anything remotely similar , deserves to be here without suffering. At the end of last year I ended up doing a huge amount of research on doctors and found a leading expert in the specific manifestations of my complex picture of health. Doctor Bruce Hoffman over in Calgary, Canada. I have already been testing remotely here in the UK and poured thousands of pounds into getting a clearer picture of whats going on. You can read reviews of this doctor here With help, I will be able to move out to Canada for 4 months of treatment, and MRI scans, I.V. treatments, and any kinds of medication and medical procedures I'll need to hopefully return me to more vibrant health. The issue is none of this is cheap. Unfortunately because my picture of health has become so complex I won't be able to get the help I need through the NHS. Believe me I have tried and exhausted every other possible avenue. By raising this money i'd have enough to afford accommodation, pay for tests, potential surgeries, and IV's i'd need. Most importantly i'd have a chance at living as a healthy person. It would mean I could pour myself into my dream of being a successful musician even more. It would be the greatest gift. As I said right at the beginning I find it really difficult to ask for help, but if ever my music has brought some kind of value into your life, weather it was just watching videos of me busking with friends, enjoying the music i put on Spotify, or relating to songs where Im singing about my struggles with my mental and physical health - and you felt that music has added value to your life, it would mean so much to me if you could even help out a little, because with a combined effort I can make this a reality Even if you don't help, your support of my music means the world to me, and if you've read this far, thank you because even reading helps educate and shine light on a criminally misunderstood area of suffering. I love you all, and I hope for a healthier and happier 2022 for all of us.

Amazing reaction Petra. Always happy to see you upload! Ren is definitely unique and supremely talented. He does spoken word, Rap, Reggae, rock and all the genres in between. The magic is in his story telling. He is in a league of his own. Many of his songs deal with mental heath, and they all hit hard. He does have more light hearted, fun stuff as well. No two songs are quite alike. Also, as others will point out, this was single continuous take, filmed from several angles. Several of his videos are done as a "one take", and they are all impressive. Many reactors have had an emotional reaction to this song, and many are just silent at the end while they try to compose their thoughts and comprehend what they had just experienced. I highly recommend Chalk Outlines (live version) next where you will also get to experience another new (and very talented) young artist. On a separate note; are you going to do a reaction of Grace's new song?

@@petrareacts9681 that is unfortunate about songs getting blocked. Even if you can't do a reaction to them, I hope you are still able to watch and enjoy them. Grace has a number of unreleased songs out right now, some which are likely to get on her upcoming EP. Boyfriends (with the dolls) was the last official release. It is a shame that record labels don't get the reactor community. Bands and artists like Nightwish and Ren have greatly benefited from viral reactions, and they get a huge amount of free publicity in the process. At this point, Grace could really use that boost, so the label is hurting her in that regard. Anyway, it is always a pleasure to hear from you. I hope you and Leona are doing well! Here is some additional information on Ren's story that I gathered from old newspaper interviews, articles, and Ren's public livestreams and posts. A handful of people frequently post an earlier version of my comment to various reactions that they copied and pasted verbatim, so if this is a repeat just ignore this comment. I keep editing the information, as needed, and have removed details about Ren that some found to be too personal, such as his full name and D.O.B. All the information here was gathered exclusively from sources Ren personally approved for public release. Ren is a Welsh musician/independent artist/producer, self-taught multi-instrumentalist. He pursued a career in music from an early age. In 2009, while studying music performance at Bath Spa University, Ren began to experience health issues and was struggling to attend his lectures, which eventually caused him to discontinue his studies and return home. In addition, Ren was signed by Sony Records in 2010 and was working on an album when his health deteriorated to the point that he was unable to go on; consequently, his contract with Sony was dissolved. Ren would later relocate to Brighton. Ren's illness often kept him in bed for up to 23 hours daily. Ren was initially misdiagnosed with depression, bipolar disorder, and chronic fatigue syndrome, which led him to experience psychosis and develop PTSD. It would take seven years before a doctor in Belgium finally correctly diagnosed Ren with autoimmunity, Lyme disease, and resulting damage to the brain, organs, joints, and PTSD. Ren eventually underwent stem cell therapy in the United States, which improved his health, but it has not been a cure. Ren is in Calgary, Canada for at least six months (Summer of 2023), undergoing treatments such as IV therapy and other interventions five days a week, as well as surgeries (wisdom tooth removal and cavitation surgery). His Canadian doctor discovered that Ren also developed a condition called Mast Cell Activation Disorder (MCAD), which has affected the myelin sheath in his brain, his thyroid, and adrenals as well as his bones/joints. Hence, Ren is receiving additional treatments for this previously undiagnosed condition. He recently took a break from treatments and returned to the UK to visit family and friends, and to produce some very ambitious musical projects to be released soon. Let's keep supporting Ren as he undergoes his treatments. Check out and subscribe to his channel; if you are a content creator, ask your audience to subscribe to Ren. Ren's YT channel just surpassed 1 million subscribers. and his videos have garnered millions and millions of views. Listen to some of his earlier work, like and comment on his performances, and let's lift Ren's spirits. If you are a believer, pray for him. Ren is an artist with something to say to the world, and his work is important in these troubling times. Someone has finally created a Wikipedia page for Ren, so there is additional information available.

It was my introduction to Ren and 200 video's on ( Inc The Big Push ) and have never ever enjoyed an artist as much. Chalk Outlines is a great next one but there are so many beautiful tracks out there.

Petra… I’m a 70 year-old man. I watch every reaction of this song I can find, hoping someone will react the way you have reacted. Especially important is when Ren of Hope rises again after Dark Ren thinks that he’s taken over. That’s the part when I still often cry - and where you did cry today. I somehow felt understood and hopeful again. I’m also riding the pendulum of mental illness. Subscribed to your channel.

Welcome to the Ren rabbit hole! He does a lot of genre-bending music. Much of it is self-reflective and moving, but he also loves playful hip-hop, sophisticated lyrical rap, etc. Many of his videos are made with Sam, his videographer, who is without question as much a genius with the camera as Ren is with music. I hope you sample a variety of his musical styles, and not exclusively his illness-related, introspective work (which I love, by the way-- it's just that he has a lot more to offer).

Everything you said mirrored my own thoughts and emotions. When he said that he learnt to relax a weight was lifted. I’ve been suffering with chronic autoimmune conditions that started when I was 14. My health, both mental and physical, has been steadily deteriorating and it’s been a continual battle to accept and adapt through anger, frustration, despair and grief. I’m now 55 and it’s only in the last few years that I’ve stopped feeling guilty, stopped feeling a failure and started to live in the moment and find peace. Hi Ren encapsulates my battle so well and his words have brought me acceptance. I hope you enjoy your journey down the Ren rabbit hole. Thank you for such a wonderful and honest reaction, I cried with you and for you xx

Ren is the Original "Bardcore Genre Bender" The Master Bard himself ( Shakespeare ) would have understood exactly where Ren was coming from. Ren isn't just a songwriter but rather a Performance Art Master who blends music and character acting from all the styles over the last 500 years and makes it modern and relatable to all generations even if normally you may not be a fan of whatever genre he is currently performing. While most good Performers can envoke some emotions in their audience, Ren is an Emotion Master who has control of all of them, From the Feel Good Vibes of Bongo Bong, to the Rebellion of Illist Of Our Time, to the Tragedy of Jenny and Screech, to the Mind Bending Rap Flow of Losing It, and the Internal Psych War of Hi Ren, Ren has it All! The Ren Rabbit Hole is Deep and Powerful! Get Ready for the Ride of your Life!

As soon as I saw your face when he started singing the falsetto introduction (overture?) I knew I was going to like you _a lot._ Where a lot of reactors express discomfort, ridicule, even laugh out loud, you said "Why does this bring tears to my eyes?", which is a really good question, and is exactly how I felt the first time I heard it. I'm very excited to share your ride on the Ren rollercoaster, so I had a quick glance at the comments to confirm what I already knew: the lovely Ren people will -mostly- overwhelmingly steer you well, and reward your honesty with boundless passion, gentle kindness and fierce loyalty. Strap yourself in for a wondrous, exhilarating, sometimes confronting but deeply life-affirming and joyful adventure!

Ren is responsible for so many tears, and so much joy. Thank you for your heartfelt reaction. I think you will find many among the Renegades who understand what you are dealing with. A couple of Ren suggestions: If you want pure artistic genius (telling a very dark story), The Tale of Jenny and Screech (full version, which is three linked videos). If you want more about mental health, Chalk Outlines with Chinchilla(live version) is AMAZING. If you want to cry, Suicide and For Joe are the songs for you. If you want joy, check out Ren with a band he plays in called The Big Push. Their medley of I Shot The Sheriff/Road To Zion/Hip Hop is wonderful (as is all their other work). And if you want hip hop, Illest Of Our Time or Lost All Faith from his upcoming album. He's got a vast catalog, so this is a very brief list. 😊

Ren was[is] his own worst enemy. That's both bad and good. It's all about balance. If you don't know 'evil' / suffering [ w/o the face on experience ] your only empathic. Ren vetted a multitude of new listeners with his last few releases, that's both bad and good. His call. His music. I'm 110% in support. I may not like [that definition is fluid ever changing NOW]..all the words, but I respect his craftsmanship:) He's for the history books!
