I have had the privilege of listening and watching Ren several years. I'm a daily benefactor of his talents so I can totally relate 🌿💔

I have watched this so many times and it’s amazing the amount of obvious talent he has. One thing I found very impressive as well is I could easily understand every word he said.

Finding Ren reminds me of when I found Bo Burnham. A self aware performance artist. I am not comparing their styles, just the talent and art as a complete performance piece.

His health issues are real, he's actually in Canada now going through treatment, he has a KZread channel where he updated his struggles that he is going through.

Thank you for reacting to this video. I’m a 54 year old woman. I can’t get enough of this song. I too struggle with those inner demons and voices that crush my spirit. He’s inspirational. The courage it took to show his vulnerability is sometimes overlooked. He needs help. He’s suffering today with his illness and needs treatment. He has a Go Fund Me page and I think the link is on his channel. He was very embarrassed and ashamed to reach out for help, but he’s received incredible support. He look definitely resembles Cillian Murphy from Peaky Blinders. He too is adorable 🥰. Good luck in all you do POLO. Sadly or maybe thankfully Ren is back in the hospital. I suffer from alot of the same issues as him. Auto immune disorder from lyme disease and severe depression. Hopefully he gets better soon.

Late to the party but I'm so glad you reacted to this. Ren is a GENIUS. He’s unequalled and there’s nothing he can’t do. Classically trained guitarist, rapper, blues singer, R&B, reggae - phenomenal lyricist and visionary. Ren is so unique in everything, but in Hi Ren he truly takes us on a rollercoaster journey of his life, as he says, of autoimmunity, illness, and psychosis. “The voice that you hear when you loosen the noose on the rope,” among others hits me like a train. Many of us can sympathize with his pain and fighting off the darkness and the demons, and wanting to just give up. Many who suffer from Lyme Disease (so far an incurable disease) have. This hits home for me, as my son contracted Lyme Disease at the same age Ren did. Ren still suffers, as does my son. Many doctors don’t believe it exists or believe that it magically goes away. I’m grateful that he’s brought this hugely emerging and deadly disease to the forefront, and perhaps some have come upon him for insight and new scientific info. /rant This song, everything it entails, the performance, production, and direction - live, no less, is nothing short of miraculous. I remember watching and watching waiting and wondering when the hell is this masterpiece going to hit 1M. Here it is now with 26M and Ren with 1.32M followers. Everything he does is otherworldly. I’m a fan. 😉 Hopefully, one day, he'll be well enough to tour. Seeing him live would be a dream.

2 things to say. At the end of December, will we be looking back on this as the moment that the biggest new star of the music World first came to our attention ? Well , if we find someone better, we can count ourselves very lucky indeed. Second... Isn't it amazing that someone so good can be hiding in plain sight for so long ? Check back on his solo work, his amazing street performances with Sam Tomkins, his band The Big Push... They're ALL next level , with millions of views, and yet most of us hadn't heard of him until a few weeks ago.

@@corylyonsmusic This is true. But it's just as true to say that there is actually way more music out there today than ever before. We have the ability to record and mix at home without paying for studios and engineers. We can upload to various platforms etc. What the companies give the artists is the ability to connect with wider audiences. This is why people like Ren are so important. It may have taken most of us a while to find him. Now it's up to us to support him. Maybe in time the likes of Sony will learn their proper place in the scheme of things. It's nice to think that might happen one day

Be sure to check out "bittersweet symphony" he dropped today I think. It's incredible also.

Ren has a varied and great catalogue. If you want him rapping i recommend The hunger, Genesis, Sickboi, loosing it (fisher rap retake) If you want singing then Chalk outlines, or any other of his teamups with Sam or Chincilla is a good choice. If you want onetake videos with great storytelling by a fantastic troubadour then his triology "he Tale of Jenny and Screech the full version" is a good choice :) Also his rap retake of right here right now, and What you want, and dam.. basically anything he has ever made is great :)

Listen, I discovered Ren through this video, and I went to check out more of his music. You ABSOLUTELY have to react to more, this dude is incredible. The Tale of Jenny and Screech (full) is a masterpiece work of art, from the lyricism to the performance level to the camerawork. Chalk Outlines (live) made me feel like I cut 20 onions at once. And dude can RAP rap. Sick Boi, Hunger, Genesis, Money Game Pt 2, his whole catalogue is fire. This dude 1000% needs to be blowing tf up right now.

First time hearing this. The way he keeps looking to the side like his alternate personality is actually there gives me chills.

I love that you made that little joke at the end of his 'talk to the camera' part, it made me giggle as I had tears in my eyes because the last section of the performance always hits me hard. I've had that same conversation with my chatter about doctors and my meds. People think it's so easy to take meds. Literally having that condescending voice attacking you belittling you over constantly taking it. It's not always as easy as just taking the meds.

The variation in styles he can go to is one thing that's stunned me about Ren, the variation from songs like Sick Boi and The Hunger compared to Chalk Outlines and Life Is Funny. I can go through 5 different genres just listening to Ren, and at least 2 of them are just Rens genres.

Ren was in a band called "The Big Push". You should look them up. Imagine four guys just as talented a Ren. They're super fun, like a super-talented party band.

You and another reactor named Stevie knight are my favs, knew y'all would do this one.

That video stays on my playlist and I listen to it multiple times a year. It’s a video I use to encourage myself to reach my potential. It also reminds me what success looks like. I’ve always enjoyed open mics and the “stage” of busking - just for the people and nothing else. The music business can keep the business and steal someone’s else talent for their own coffers. Ren embodies this idea. He plays in the streams and creeks giving us gems that only shine for us and no one else. Cheers;)

Amazingly, he doesn't chase numbers either!FWIW, I reckon that section was a bit of a riff on the Mark Twain quote (paraphrasing Benjamin Disraeli) that "There are lies, damned lies, and statistics".
