Removing Weight From The Car & Fitting Bucket Seats - Ford Fiesta ST180 Track Race Car

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

Something that definitely needed doing after the track day was to change the original seats for some more supportive bucket seats & Harnesses. Whilst we were there we also decided that we could lose a fair amount of weight if we removed all of the interior from the car! So that's this episode! removing the majority of the interior and making a rear harness support bar!

Hell yeah, get on it! I am hoping we will have a great group of us next year and I would also love to be able to put a track day on for just subscribers if we get big enough!

It's surprising how much weight there is in a car interior but the down side is I bet it's noisy and with the headlining removed you will get a lot of droning but hey it's all part of the fun Dan 😂👍

Dan please consider upgrading to at least 5 point harnesses 4 point are deadly, there is lots of reports of people being killed by sliding under them and being choked in a crash, I actually know someone who this happened to, you can buy the single extra harness to convert them, Tweeks or anywhere like do them, it's a no brainer,

Leave the useful rear wiper*, and get the sound deadening out instead. Racing in the UK still has a big chance of rain and a rear wiper is great to see through when (not if) that happens.

Hi Dan, the Fiesta is coming along very well. I can recommend Lexan window for saving weight. A weight saving freebie, if you aren't doing it already that is. Only put the bare minimum amount of fuel you need in it to do the laps you want to do and top up as you need to. I've run my track car full to the brim as well as down to about 10lt, the difference in handling alone is worth the pitstops.

It is one hell of a lot of fun. MX-5 are slow and cost a lot to get bigger power. There were 2/3 on the last trackday and they wound me up as they were so slow and in the way. 6 Cylinder BMW etc would also cost a hell of a lot more to buy, prepare and maintain etc this cheap little Ford is a good little track toy. great chassis, easy to tune and cheap to build.

Plus it was a write-off. So it would have ended a stripped and flattened stacked 20 high piece of metal anyways. If you had better plans with it, you could've bought it yourself, right? Dan owns it, he can do whatever he likes with it. And that includes chopping the roof off, and painting it pink with red flowers. Or race it...

@@DanChambersDAC yeah fab it will make you happy. But are going to be putting it back to standard when you sell it? And for the guy that said it was written off, yeah fair enough it was but you can’t really call it a write off with the little that was wrong with it. It’s just some insurance company couldn’t be bothered to have it sorted for so little it cost. Some company’s are so lazy they would rather pay out or if the driver of this car were to fault and no one else was involved then they wouldn’t have had to pay out for the car
