Removing the Driver Seat in a T1N Sprinter. There are a few seat options. Does yours do this?

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

Some seats have this easy access to everything under them. Relays and terminal connections are easy to get at, if your seat does this.

    This video made my day so much better. I doubt that I would have figured out how to remove the seat without considerable grief first. It made replacing one of the house batteries much easier. Good on ya!

    I just discovered this the other day installing heated seats in my 2006 build. The passenger side has the same so I swapped the 2 to put the wear of driver seat on passenger side inner side of van. FYI the red button on the side towards the front shifts it back & forth if you didn't know. That pin you found is just to remove it if you didn't know. Heated seat install I am documenting on my channel. I posted a video the other day but I'm gonna have to do a part 2 because the wire routing & dash disassembling wasn't fun. Lol. I was going to share this pin to remove seats as well & was searching to see if ithers had done so. Great job for sharing.

    Thank you so much for this video!!!!! I have the two piece Covercraft Carhartt seat cover that keeps popping off the bottom by the seat back - I was able to move the seat bottom and fit it properly without having to add tabs and latches! WIN!!!! Just subscribed to your channel! THANKS!!!!

    Yup. I found that on mine because when I bought it, the seat bottom wasn’t attached. What I did was screw some bass shaker tactical transducers on there. Easiest subwoofer ever

    Yup! If your van has the « confort seats » option on the build card, you have this on your van

    I was wondering if it might also correlate with auxiliary battery under the driver seat being a selected option

    My '06 aint like that; had the screws and the swap was good with the passenger side. But, they had those squabs (bottom cushions) from Dodge sellers that flooded the market and I bought a passenger side and put it in the drivers at 130K. The drivers had strapping and not just fill foam like the passenger side. I have taught myself to lift my rear end off the seat when exiting and that make the squabs last twice as long. The drivers side squabs from DB are more money and better support.

    I have a T1N 2004, and the passenger side with Aux battery has this feature of the removable seat with this sliding mechanism, where the driver side cushion is held down with 2 screws? Is this factory to have one one way, and the other having it the other way? The seat cushions you mention you bought, where was this DB you refer to, any link by chance? Cheers

    @@strictlybamboo Sure looks and sounds like that 04 is factory with two different approaches to seating. The aux battery dictated the passenger side assembly. My van is a cargo style with two screws holding the squab cushion to the frame with a simple tilt and height approach. The VIN number is key to finding such parts at a DB dealer. The '06 model I have is the last 5 cylinder import to US by DB so it may be different in a number of ways to an '04. The seat cushions on my model are interchangeable with the drivers side originally being a better more cost construction. I have seen junk yard T1N models with fancy passenger seat frames same as driver's side. Ask TiN owners to see their seating under sides and get the VIN number go to the dealer if you want to cost out parts. So the seat bottom cushions I bought were on sale from Dodge dealers that DB allowed to sell after so many years of holding in inventory. I was tempted to buy several more cushions at that time but DB can get any you want 20 years from now. You should use Shell oil 0W40 for best results. Reduces wear.

    Just checked my 2006 and found it had this option. I've been driving it for seven years wishing I could pull the seat bottom out a little and always unbolting the seat to deal with the fuse box.

    Me too! But I've been driving mine since new in '05. I wish I had a camera running when I actually discovered this lever. My neighbor came over to see what I was laughing about. He thought I found a $100 bill or something better. He was right...

    Would there be any connectors or fuses or relays under the seat that would have to do with supplying power to the driver's window switch?

    I have one seat with screws, and one with this slider function, is it possible to convert screw type to the slider type?

  • @FloridaVanMan

    @FloridaVanMan

    I think the one you refer to as "with screws" has a black adaptor between the seat base and the seat. It would be about 3 inches tall. Remove that from the van and place a deluxe seat, but converting the Mercedes basic seat to a slider would be more difficult.

    fvman I know this is off subject, my turn signal keeps going out. I’ve changed the controls and relay. It makes a buzzing noise when I hit the turn signal.

  • @FloridaVanMan

    @FloridaVanMan

    Does it still buzz when you take the relay out? Can you tell where the buzz comes from? The wiring changes so much from one van to the next, no diagrams are accurate for every van. So I suspect you changed the wrong relay, because that is usually what causes a buzz. Make it buzz and start feeling everything for vibration. I suspect you will find a vibrating relay.
