Unless you remove ALL of the roots (which is doubtful) you will have more Agave coming up for a long time. Just get use to them once they have established themselves. I've been there too and still dig up pups each year. Good luck !

The day we planted them (they were tiny babies - pups) he buried several thick layers of plastic a foot or so below ground level. After their removal several years later in 2018 he had to pull out those sheets of plastic. That was 4 years ago and not a single one came back. But thanks for the tip, I appreciate that you shared it with me.
