Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

Nice to see another view on this. I'm pulling the steering knuckle off anyway, so I like this approach (I can see everything clearly this way). Whether you drill/screw/pry, or punch you might need both if at first you don't succeed. Thanks for the video.

Instead of a drill bit, use a soldering iron then use a screw to pull it out.

This works, thank goodness I found this comment, if I could post a pic in the comments I would, spent 20min carefully trying to ease it out before it snapped, 20min to find this comment, 3 min later and it was out 👍👍👍

Yeah mine was so rusted and seized, a punch just flattened it. I ended up drilling it was while on the car, i was replacing the wheel bearings so i didn't have to worry about debris. The hard part was finding the replacement sensor

I live in NY 😅 You can still drill it out, I just don’t recommend doing it with the hun mounted on the car. Gotta clean all that debris out!

I have tried hitting one on a VW T6, could not get it out that way (on the car) but tried with a hot wood screw that melted into the plast and then pull it out with a crowbar, saw it on youtube. Dont really understand the fear of pieces going into the bearing, isnt it out on the dirty side?

Mine was stuck.. I drilled a hole and also used a screw to screw in and I was able to pull it out with the busted stick sensor.

I just snapped the screw in mine trying to do it that way, so now I’m removing the knuckle to tap it out or at least re-drill with better access.

there is normally no way to get it out. even getting ut hammered out is normally hard and you will get it out in 100 part's. the hole is normally close to 2 mm smaller then stock due to rust.

How about the where the bolt goes for the sensor I got my sensor out and bolt but the threads are stripped, any tips? Drill new hold, and use tap and dye to create new threads? Weld a bolt into the hole of the stripped threads? Thanks for any help

@@youtubebros Take your bolt to the hardware store to find out what size the threads are. You can use a thread chaser of the same size to repair any rolled over threads inside the hole. If it’s REALLY stripped and the threads have been ruined, use a tap. Either use a tap the next size up, or drill a hole specified for a larger tap - whatever you have on hand. Make sure the new bolt for the size you’re tapping it to fits through the mounting hole on the sensor.

@@BriGuyGarage I will but having a hard time drillling into the cast Iron Knuckle. Not sure the type of drill bit to use. I think mine is metal.

  • @BriGuyGarage

@@youtubebros You’ll want to use carbide drill bits. You need to drill that hole completely straight, can’t be on an angle or the tap won’t cut right. You can always take a bolt the next size up and just muscle it in there! 😂

That would be nice if all of them came out with a simple punch but you still have to drill sometimes when the entire thing is rusted shut and broken Ive done enough bof these to know. Video got recommended for me out of nowhere, algorithm must know im a mechanic lol. Just watch for metal shaving, if you see the slightest bit of metal shavings stop. You can then just remove the cv axle , blow it and thats it 😉.

I always wondered why people don't use a small amount of penetrating oil

  • @jongmassey

because when it's proper rusted in, leaving it in penetrating oil for several hours does fuck all

  • @diamondflaw

Penetrating oil helps a bit, but when you are somewhere where things get rust jacked together, it’s now mechanically locked in there and needs…. additional persuasion
