    I’ve seen street vendors using back of knife to hit all over the shell just hard enough for the flesh to be detached from the shell for few minutes. Once it’s ready, they just crack it opened and you get fully detached flesh.

    Place a thin layer of prepared coconut on a sheet pan. Heat oven to 140*. Place pan on the middle and dehydrate for 1 hour. After 30 minutes, give the pan a little shake for best results. You can dehydrate at a lower temperature, but it requires a longer dehydrate time. Tip: soak your coconut in sugar water before dehydrating for a sweeter coconut taste.

    To crack, put the coconut on the palm of your hand with the the two eyes on top and hit between the two eyes. if you hit it hard, one hit will crack it. if you hit around without the right spot you will continue to hit so many times before it cracks.

    You're correct, and exactly what I was thinking. Boiling for 10 minutes denatures all the enzymes and nutrients so it's no longer very beneficial to your health. Even if it's from the outside, any food heated above 70°C has nutrients denatured

    Usually we are adding coconut in some gravy and cooking it.. Wont the nutrients get destroyed at that time?🙄

  • @ZianasFoodArchive

    @ZianasFoodArchive

    3 жыл бұрын

    @@jananitrader3880 yes, it will be destroyed..that's why usually coconut paste or coconut milk is added at last in many gravy recipes..and coconut flesh is eaten raw too by many, especially in our native..we usually grate coconut, it doesn't lose nutrients, but grating it is a bit time consuming..that's why I was looking for an alternative n saw this video..

    That took like FOREVER! My husband drained, cut, and took out the meat way before this video was over. It could’ve been a lot shorter. No need to show what part of the shredder shreds what way. Not need to show how it comes out, as it’s shown as you do it. I was just annoyed by how long the video took. People have no time sometimes. That would me.
