Remove and Reinstall Valve Spring in Less than 2 Minutes! NO SPECIAL TOOLS

This video shows how to install and reinstall valve springs on a Subaru Wrx EJ205 cylinder head. This method is quick, simple, and can be used on many other cylinder heads.
Removing the retainer keepers requires: vice grips, a spark plug socket, and a pen magnet.
Reinstalling the retainer keepers requires: 4x folded piece of plastic, spark plug socket, vice grips.
I found this method on KZread. Thanks KZreadrs! I am reposting to make this technique more visible and to show how quick it is. Hopefully it can help you!
This is my other valve spring / keeper tool:

Had to change a valve on my wife's 05 kia sedona. My wife was like, "How long is that gonna take?" I said, "Probably all day, its not an easy job." She took the kids to the beach. Using your little trick, I had the job done from start to finish in just under 2 hours and now she's running like brand new! With all the extra time I had left I got to take a nice long nap afterwards! Oh and I returned the expensive tool I bought too. I never even opened it lol. Think I'll use the money to buy some beer. For anyone who wants to do this trick without removing the head you can feed a few feet of small rope through the spark plug hole and then turn the crank till the piston is hits the rope. This will hold the valve in place. Then when your done just pull the rope back out.

@@brotomwang8218 that’s true too! But the rope trick is a lot easier if you don’t have a compressor. Also you don’t have to worry about damaging anything by over pressurizing as a lot of compressors can easily reach 100 psi which is way too much. Also if you don’t get enough pressure in there, then bye bye valve.

  • @brotomwang8218

@@jet4022 how is 100psi too much? lol motors reach 170+psi of compression. and you shouldnt need more than 50psi. I wouldnt put a rope in my motor. The best way is to just turn the motor into the positions where the piston are at the top & both valves are closed (compression stroke). im about to do this job myself on my Evo and i think thats what im gonna do
