Me too, well I'm 45. I skated and later picked up riding after my skater friend picked up "Head First" Matt Hoffman's video. Dave and Matt hands down where who I looked up to when riding. Back in the day when the sprockets where huge and frames began spitting out with those "lumps" on the underside for bash-guards lol. Man, bash-guards...

Dave Mirra was the nicest guy I have ever met. I met him at a stop in Lawrenceville Ga. I was nobody important, I wasnt with anyone important and I asked Dave Mirra for an autograph for my nephew (I was also a big fan). He treated me like I was his best friend and we hung out and talked for about an hour. Nicest guy I have ever met. I have met some other famous athletes like Tony Hawk, Rob Nolli, Scott Byerly etc. all of them were nice but I always felt like a fan around them but Dave made me feel like a friend. I truly felt like Dave Mirra was my friend from that one meeting.

I will always remember the day that Dave Mirra showed up at the local skate park in Switzerland me and my friend frequently visited as teens back in the days. My friend and I were lucky enough to be there and what started as a disappointing day because some skateboarders stole my friends cap out of spite because we were inline skating "in their park" turned out to be a fantastic session we had with Dave and memories I will cherish for the entirety of my life. Out of nowhere came Dave and asked my friend why he's so bummed. He told Dave what happened and without any hesitation he gave away his cap as a gift. We had the pleasure to talk to him for some time while most of the skateboarders didn't even recognize him. We were super exited when he told us that he would love to ride with us in that massive wooden bowl that's in that park. I will never forget the moment I did a Royale Grind and Dave jumped over me doing a Tuck No Hander. We watched him riding that bowl in awe until he left the place. Even though we did a different sport Dave was always a huge inspiration for me. He showed the world that there are other actions sports out there than skateboarding and exceptional athletes can be found in every sport. For me he first and foremost was an ambassador of having fun while doing a sport that you love. Thank you Dave for those memories and for beeing such a great person, you will always be remembered by kids all around the world.
