Some of the greats of the game recall the NBA career of Ben Wallace, whose No. 3 was retired by the Detroit Pistons on Saturday.

People who think Hakeem, Duncan, Rodman or Robinson were on Ben Wallaces level on D, didn't watch him enough. He was on a different level. I want to someday see compilations of games he took over the 4th quarter. I don't think people truly understand his defense. It was no different than MJ doing it on offense. He truly had the same impact. It's as if he was everywhere, making play after play. Opponents could not score. Only Pistons fans during that period truly got to see it. His most dominant stuff was 2001-2004, I think that's why people don't get how good he was. He took a team largely led by Chucky Atkins and Stackhouse to the 2nd round of the playoffs guys. That's all I need to say.

Ben Wallace is the only player in NBA history that had the ability to control a game by rebounding, shot blocking and controlling the paint. There were lots of great defenders but Ben Wallace was one who can control the paint area when he got into a zone he would control that paint. That's why they won a championship. That 03 04 Pistons team changed the game the NBA changed the rules after they won. That team should have won more championships but Larry Brown left after they won in 03 04.

@@Balal8281 They really would have atleast 2 rings with Melo

Tej S easily. They really should have gotten 2 regardless but a close game 7 loss to the Spurs happened and even though they lost, I’m glad it was against Pop and his hall of fame Spurs in their primes. They didn’t lose to no scrubs and it went down to the wire. With Melo though, oh man that’s one of the biggest what if’s in NBA history. I can honestly say 3-4 rings guaranteed comes to mind thinking about that
A little bit of foreshadowing there with Van Gundy talking about " Pistons Basketball" lol

Ameen Moqbel fuck van gundy. We need a new coach. He's wasting our future's prime by not letting them play
It reminds me of when I woke up 2 3 in the morning to watch the games just amazing big Ben Rasheed rid Hamilton Prince and billups
underrated for sure. hall of famer in my opinion
He finally made the Hall of fame💯💯💯 well deserved
He is for sure a HOF and should be in the 2020 class.....4x DPOY of the year
If Ben doesn't make it to he Hall of Fame there shouldn't be one. He really was the heart and soul of those great Pistons teams. I'm just glad I was able to watch virtually every 'Stons game from '01-06.

He needs to be in the Hall of Fame
BIG BEN IN THE HOUSE
That man is the personification of effort.
always a quiet superstar
If Pop says you are special, you are special.
I'm a Laker fan. Man I hated him after 04. Much Respect
Such a strong man, such a beast. A true physical specimen
Hering this from POP warm my hearth. Thank u couch!!!

I was a Ben Wallace fan when he played for the Magic! I was like who is this?????????
It's going to be a long time before you get another player like Ben💯
OG BEN WALLACE
Prime Ben is Stan's dream player to have.
Stop playing around and put this man in the Hall of fame already. Enough is enough C'mon!!!
Loved watching Big Ben, also George Blaha and Greg Kelser, legends
Moving away from the Palace at Auburn Hills seem to be the final goodbye for these glory days of Detroit Pistons
The question at minute 2:57 and his smile afterwars. Now he is going to be in the HoF next year. Congratulations Big Ben! Fear the Fro!
George Blaha is a legend in the state of Michigan. We must cherish and protect this man. Also, he and Greg Kelser make such a great pair of play by play and analyst. I cannot think of the Pistons without thinking of those two calling a game.
He was a man among boys for sure.Great respect for a guy who is maybe HOF worthy despite the numbers.
"special player, special guy, special teammate." - greg pop
Ben Wallace was a lot of fun to play as on NBA Street 2
Still like to hear "blocked by Ben" than "blocked by James"
My sixth fav player ‼️💯
One of my favorite, Ben “THE MONSTER “ Wallace!!🦾🦾🦾
What more could a guy ask for..? Three legends and cool dudes in one room..? Dayum#
Ben Wallace deserves to be a Hall Of Famer, and if you disagree then you don't know Basketball.🤷♂️
It was a pleasure watching the 2000's Pistons. One of the toughest squads in basketball history. whether they were going against the Lakers, Spurs, etc, you could never count those guys out up till the very end. The best evenly distributed team-oriented basketball since the 60's Celtics.
It's kinda weird we had the top 2 defenders and rebound guys within the same franchise. Of course I talk about Ben Wallace and Dennis rodman. Long live bad boys 1&2!!!
Ben Wallace has more impact on a basketball game then 25 point scorers.
Big Ben was the Dennis Rodman without all the bullshit. Hard work pays off
I'm Lakers fan but appreciated who Big Ben and piston were to the NBA. Also who here remember the announcer for the piston back then. Miss that shit for real. Ba Ba Ba Ben Wallace! Ba Ba Ba Billups! Thats shit was dope!
Big Ben 💪💪💪
It’s not about stat, it’s all about presence in the court! It’s big ben!👊💪
So happy for him, hall of fame!!
This man Would destroy TODAYS CENTER.
Great damn player! I'd love a conversation between him and Kawhi Leonard
Not to mention, he was a 6'9 Center.
My favourite piston ever.
DETROIT!!💙💪🏿
Best defenceman of all time !!
Wow, I didn't know Al Pacino knew a lot about basketball.
Hall of famer no doubt about it, Wallace always brought out the best of others around him a very special player who played with heart and passion and in 2004 won it all 💪
hard working beats everything
I know he is a HOF....When he faced the Spurs I was worried about him
Ben should be in the top 75.
Blue collar boss ben wallace 2 words describe him hard work.
He's the Malice at the Palace
Ben Wallace was the 2nd Coming Of Bill Russell! I Really Believe That! I respect the hustle & hard work BIG BEN!!!
God, we were so spoiled...
I would really like to see Ben Wallace work with Iiasah Stewart. 🗣 Detroit Basketball
Best defensive player in nba history and would ya believe he went undrafted?
Believe it or not, Ben Wallace was a superstar. When he left the pistons, they quit being championship contenders

Wallace was a great player, I wish he had worked on his free throws a little bit more tho.
Been should have been a first ballot HOF.

my 2nd fav big man num1 is wilt
01:26 6' 9" Ben completely denies 7' 6" Yao Ming who looks a bit befuddled.
Did he do the big ball dance after Jason Kidd talked?
And he went undrafted
Too bad this pistons team never got to play the Jordan bulls. I would take that Pistons team

No one on this Pistons team could guard MJ and Pippen. Tayshaun and Chauncey could try. 2005 Spurs defeated this Pistons. What makes you think MJ's Bulls won't?
I miss this kind of action-player, because nowadays players looking for 3 pt shots only, and it is bored as hell...
people need to appreciate Gobert because he's the closest thing to Big Ben in the current NBA
