Some other fascinating facts on Big Ben All-Time League History Records: 1 of 5 players to lead the NBA in rebounds and blocks in the same season. 1 of 10 players to amass 10,000 rebounds and 2,000 blocks. 1 of 8 players to get at least 2,000 blocks and 1,000 steals. Only player in NBA history to grab 1,000 rebounds, 150 blocks, and 100 steals in 4 straight seasons. Only player to have more blocks than fouls AND more steals than turnovers. Best individual defensive rating OF ALL TIME in a single season (87.48 in 2003-2004). *note: got this from Reddit* I am a die-hard fan of Pistons and Ben is my favourite player of all time. That 03-04 Pistons team were amazing.

No offense to Grant Hill, but this was a great trade. As someone who grew up in Metro Detroit in the 90s-2000s, Ben Wallace was an anchor on one of the best teams and we're talking the 2002 Detroit Red Wings who hosted a ton of HOFers and 100 greatest hockey players of all-time, the Tigers of the 2000s who never won a World Championship but boasted one of the best managers in MLB Jim Lehland (sp.), Justin Verlander (Cy Young), Schoerzer (Cy Young), Miggy C (Triple Crown), and even the Lions had future HOFers in Megatron and potentially Matt Stafford. Out of all these guys, Big Ben was my fav because he had to earn every dollar. Just as bad as NOT choosing D Wade, Melo, or Bosh for the #2 pick instead of Darko in potentially the best draft in NBA history - Joe Dumars going after Ben Wallace was freaking genius.

Detroit would have swept LA too if it hadn't been for a miracle Kobe 3 point shot to put them in OT and an OT win. Also the statement that Big Ben couldn't guard Shaq is just not true. Not only was he the best at guarding Shaq but Shaq's numbers dwindled against Big Ben. Not to mention Ben is an exaggerated 6'7" (just look at the pic of him standing next to LeBron in Cleveland where LeBron has to duck to talk to him!) while Shaq is notoriously 7'1." This means Ben was guarding a guy 6" shorter than him and one of the best Centers with his back against the basket in the history of the game and preventing him from outright dominating.

Guys like Ben and Rodman really showcase that you don't have to be an offensive option to have a huge impact on the floor. Hussle and owning your role can absolutely make the difference between being a roleplayer and being necessity for a team. It's unfortunate that more organizations, and even fans, don't realize this.

He was small as center but what athleticism he had..He's the only player that could stop prime Shaq i still remember that monstrous block. The problem with Big Ben was that his prime ended quickly and after Pistons he was just shadow of what used to be despite not being very old. He was actually calm player, but of course not to be messed with lol. I really doubt Cousins would have tried anything against him, and I think Beverley would end up in hospital. Big Ben is true example of true tough guy in every aspect. That haircut is legendary to this day.

So every home game a row in the Palace was designated the rebound row and every time Ben got a rebound a person in that row was given a white shirt with an "R", that was fun. What was more fun was the gong. So every time Ben got a rebound John Mason would hit a gong sound on the PA... but Ben is Ben so it was constant gongs during the game, they ended up changing it to only when Ben scored. Much less gongs but it was still fun.

More blocks than fouls, plus more steals than turnovers ; the only NBA player to ever achieve it. One of my favorite players, a textbook team player. Through hard work, determination and devotion he managed to earn his place amongst the greatest of all time - and he did it his way. A true inspiration!

Ben Wallace was regarded by many to be the greatest undrafted player in NBA history, so he was known for his shot-blocking, rebounding, and overall defensive play. He was originally from White Hall, Alabama. He played college basketball at Cuyahoga Community College in Cuyahoga County, Ohio and transferred to Virginia Union University. In his NBA career, he also played 16 NBA seasons with the Washington Bullets/Wizards, Orlando Magic, Chicago Bulls, Detroit Pistons and Cleveland Cavaliers. After his retirement from the NBA, he was elected to the Basketball Hall of Fame.

This is what people need to accept. Find something youre good at on the court and work to become great at it. Lets face it, most of us arent capable of being LeBron, Michael, Wilt, or Kobe. This is what Ben Wallace did and it took him to the hall of fame!

I mean..... offensively he was not an asset in the least Defensively he was an invaluable monster. I remember turning on one game he was in and the announcers where yapping about a triple double with zero points. So dude was owning the glass Creating second chance points from those rebounds. And lastly decreasing the opp, end score by at least 20. Big Ben was the only player i ever saw manhandle prime Shaq, like he was nothing. EDIT: Yah, Swish buddy. You cant go by numbers, Shaq always got his numbers. Theres no "misconception" by anyone on this and those saying this are saying this because we watched his career.... at least with Detroit and personally for me, Chicago. ..... yah, im into it. Id even take him in todays NBA if my 1-4 shot 37% from 3.

Vid is totally worth watching, but the short answer is: 14 rebounds, 1.8 steals, and 3.5 blocks. Those aren't numbers from a playoff series, but an entire year.

This guy might be before your time but how about an analysis of Billy Owens? He was a high school star in PA, played at Syracuse, was a lottery pick but didn't like up to expectations in the NBA.
