People said Rangers were too powerful to go down in 2012, then they were liquidated. After came the lobbying to allow them back into the top flight or second tier - in the they had to reapply to join at the fourth tier against semi-professionals and village teams. Anything is possible if the charges are proven to be valid.

The thing with not being able to prove it is both Everton and Forest held their hands up and got walloped for the privilege. They will have to prove at least some charges with Man City, otherwise being unable to prove any at all simply sends out the message to other clubs as being okay as long as they deny it.

The interesting thing for me is…let’s say for arguments sake the charges are proven in February (let’s say) and the punishment is relegation…do they get relegated straight away or do they wait until the end of the season so that the PL doesn’t end up with byes every week for the remainder of the season?

If you are suggesting Man City over inflated sponsorship agreements to comply with FFP then you are also accusing the sponsors of deliberately deceptive behaviour, and could lead to huge lawsuits against the Premier League. Etihad are the main sponsors and paid Man City a fee. Its Etihad who had to decide if this sponsorship was reasonable & for others to argue otherwise needs an enormous level of proof. If other companies were paying less, so what…its like going to an auction and buying a picture..what is it worth ? Its worth the amount the highest bidder offers, or if you are selling a house for 1 million & an idiot offers you 1.25, you take the money , however if the buyer believes the house will be worth 1.5 million in a year, its the seller who is the idiot.

Thing is, if they were breaking rules so long ago and the premier league knew about it, why didn’t they act sooner? In some of those years, Liverpool have been amazing but lost out on two premier league titles by a point, to a team who have potentially cheated for years and been able to buy the best players and win titles, the city players have also been cheated and pep, because it tarnishes a legacy.. or maybe he knew all along? As football fans we deserve better governance and awareness from the people who run English football.

The PL didn't act sooner because they didn't "know" or at least, have evidence. They got the evidence when a hacker revealed stuff in 2018. From the news: "Portuguese hacker, Rui Pinto released hundreds of thousands of documents and emails to media organisations across Europe, including those of Man City, which allowed the Premier League to impose charges on their current champions." (just google: Rui Pinto Man City). Why has it taken from 2018 until now to get somewhere? Because Man City have good lawyers who have been doing everything possible to make this go away. The biggest problem here is FFP stopping clubs from spending money. Newcastle going and buying Mbappe would be better for the league, not worse.

I'm an American, most PL fans you meet are Arsenal, Chelsea, or man united fans. There's a fair amount of spurs and Liverpool fans, I've met everton, Newcastle, west ham and Villa fans but never have I met a City fan or so much as seen someone wearing a shirt. Obviously this is just anecdotal but still a big sponsorship deal for a team that I've never seen a fan of in America does not pass the sniff test

It will depend on the commission’s level of proof. In a law court you have to prove ‘beyond reasonable doubt’, in most professional tribunals it is only ‘on the balance of probability’ which is far easier to generate proof. I’d be interested to know, what their burden of proof is before I guess if they will get away with it.

The one thing that the has been overlooked... This is a civil case, and it is not subject to the criminal burden of proof, which is, "Beyond all reasonable doubt". The burden of proof for civil matters is judged on, "The balance of probability". I think they are in a bit of trouble. Probably not relegation for commercial reasons, but it's reasoble to suggest, they'll be subject to penalty on most, if not all 115 charges.

I suggest that the FA concentrate on the ONE case they deem the most likely to prove City guilty, declaring 'suspended indefinitely' the other 100+ and BRING THAT ONE CASE forward to the appropriate courts, where, if guilt is proven, and the fine handed out is NOT LESS than either Never-ton or Forest, I think 'that' would/will be acceptable to most of us fans, as from that moment onwards 'City' is on permanent NOTICE.

If anyone thinks there relegate city there in for a shock. There changing the rules at the end of the season but sky not reporting it. Keys and gray reported it

I'm a Man City Fan but I think we should be stripped of all our titles and relegated to non-league

Everyone who talks about this says how hard it will to be to prove this. Surely it is not necessary to prove all 115 charges. They just need to prove a few of them.

I hope the day that both Liverpool and Man United fans can celebrate together as one will come

Love how he treats every team equally.

Even if city do get found guilty for even just 1 of the 115 charges we all know the league don't have the balls to punish a "big" clubs

City don't actually fall into that category. They have the smallest fan base in the "big 6" (really we all know it's the big 4, Chelsea and City do not deserve to be included in that list) so there will be minimal resistance. This is evident with how Chelsea were treated at the end of Roman's tenure.

Roman and Todd use/used it as a method of bringing dirty money into Britain to take advantage of our easily manipulated tax system. Man City are part of a group of clubs called The City Group so they're not even a team on their own lol I have met one City fan in my life

There is no way, that Man City get done for this, it is next to impossible to prove and implicates far toooo many people including people that are part of or involved with the royal family. The premier league are just throwing mud at Man City and hoping it sticks (and also probably trying to impress the government select committee).

The "lack of cooperation" will be the easiest to prove, and would carry an opportunity to sanction city, even if they get off the more complex issues.

Relegation is not enough, they need to set an example here and show the whole world that if you break the rules there is serious consequences. Not only should they be relegated they should also have there titles and trophies removed for every year they have broken the rules.

They have cheated, you can say what ever you want but they have to pay in some way and relegation alone isn’t enough, especially if those breaches have helped them win numerous trophies and titles

Genuinely think that of there's even a hint at being found guilty, they'll just try and settle out of court with a hefty fine. An amount that would look massive to the public but in reality would be peanuts for city.

It's not a court case, it's an independent commission.

The number of charges isn't really the complicating factor, as it's the same charges multiplied. So, if City show that in one year they didn't do what is alleged, there's little chance that they suddenly started doing it in following years. With that said, if it is shown that in 1 year they were guilty, it could take longer as City will want to mitigate any punishment by showing that it was not a recurring practise.

It's actually 5 charges repeated 115times and they are all intertwined. If the first charge is proven not guilty then remaining 4 charges will deemed invalid

If they’re not proven to be guilty because of the level of conspiracy surrounding the corruption at Manchester City, does that mean the Premier League cannot still hand out some punishment when it’s blatantly obvious they’re guilty? I think the minimum should be a 7 year transfer ban

These charges are not in a court-of-law, so the burden of proof is balance of probability NOT beyond shadow of doubt.

We only have to look at the post office scandal to see that it’s more than possible for a number of people to act dishonestly. It doesn’t make sense that a club with a 53k capacity that they often don’t fill can pay a player 900k a week plus huge wages to other players.

Look at how quick Everton and Forest got hit, why were the city cases left fore so long and so many charges left to mount up.

I think UEFA had emails actually showing the facts of the situation. As in emails where the higher ups were talking about the "need to adjust " the amounts. And I think this has to be charged on a year by year basis.

Corruption in the UK is very bad indeed.

115 charges should be National League, let's be honest. The entirety of English and European football has changed based on 115 charges. They've won trophies they shouldn't have, they've been in competitions they shouldn't have been in, they've rewritten the meaning of success with unsustainable spending and set the basis for the need for a world-class squad, not just the starting XI, as well as setting up a network of teams that work under them including title-challengers Girona in LaLiga.

If Man City get away with 115 charhes by throwing cash at it, then the FA is done. Might as well throw away all your financial rules cause all it takes is money to bypass it.

As for VAR, when Liverpool faced Spurs and Diaz's goal was wrongly called offside, the PGMOL official said something along the lines of 'it all evens out across the season'. That is repulsive. Were that a crime, and he got burgled, would he think it's okay because he'd be able to balance it out and burgle someone else? Of course not. What needs to happen is whenever such a travesty of officiating occurs, the next meeting of the involved teams should either start with a goal (or however many goals were wrongly disallowed) to be instated to the match being played. Wasn't Howard Webb a police officer?

It's just someone's opinion. I don't think it's worth making a big deal of it.

i know the Ranger situation was different, they dropped out the league altogether. If Man City are thrown out of the Premier League, is there any obligation for the Football League to accept them in the championship L1 or L2?

The problem is if a club makes a small breach it's easy to prove. If you do something of the scale of the charges against Man City then it's so difficult to prove because it becomes so complex.

If they are found guilty You can't just relegate them to the championship it's one year out, they'll probably be back and that's no punishment. They need kicking out of the football league and stripping of their titles.

Just imagine, the current Manchester City squad being relegated 3 leagues down. They would break every record of those leagues while going undefeated before returning to the Premier League
