unpopular opinion but i love the disorganized lack of chorus in a lot of these songs. it’s different and just feels so authentic. definitely my all time favorite album. it’s really carried by jonny’s vocals tho.

Emarosa was Jonny’s best live band. That was the peak of his live performance. It’s a totally different experience live. I grew up in their hometown and their shows to this day are a sublime memory for me, having seen the rest of his bands live as well (and seeing his solo gig in a couple more months). Those rock-style breakdowns were so unique at the time. And the songwriting structure gave that album so much replayability.

I remember they were on a tour with a bunch of heavier bands like Attack and Maylene and they ended up having the crowd in a trance bc of Jonny's performance.

This band is for big fans of Jonny. If you don't love Jonny's singing you won't like it, the reason ppl love it is because it's a showcase for his vocal ability.

This is the most experimental metalcore I've ever heard imo. Every 4 bars it sounds like a different song or has a change in instrumentalization or pace. It's insane.

I'd consider this album a classic from that era, although I don't think it's a 10/10 masterpiece front-to-back. Appreciate your honesty though mate, not everyone has to be head over heels on first listen. Would love to see you react to Greatest of All Lost Arts album by Lower Definition, also released in 08. One of my fav post-hardcore albums, certainly from that era. Has Jonny on a track and features Tino on drums who later became more known as the drummer for Of Mice and Men. They were inactive for a decade but started releasing new songs in 2021 saying a new album was coming. I've enjoyed those tracks as well but it seems the album is taking longer than I hoped.

Lower D was another band i will forever love like emarosa. Still to this day, 16 years later, emarosa and lower D are constantly in my active playlists. The newer songs lower d released were AMAZING. I don’t think we’re gonna get another album from them, but just happy i got 4 more songs from them to add to the library.

Keep jamming it and im almost positive it'll have its effect on you! Glad you chose to give it a shot!! 🤘🤘

For me this is Jonny's best work. Dance Gavin Dance always was too little jonny for me. If there is another singer in the song with him, it diminishes his singing quite a bit I think. And Slaves is good but way softer in instrumentalization. I get why people (maybe you included) don't like it. It's really something that grows on you (or at least it grew on me). It feels like listening to something like dream theater the first time, it's way too chaotic to just take in and enjoy on a first listen. I listened to the album a lot of times and still get songs or passages confused with others because it's such a wild ride. You could show me a 20 second clip of a song on this album and I wouldn't know which song it was off of and I don't know any other album for which this applies. But I really enjoy it. His vocals sound fresh and energetic and in this regard match the music quite well. All in all - thanks for giving this a try, even if it wasn't for you sometimes. Once again it shows that music is just incredibly subjective because the first third of the album is my favorite part :D

Relativity will go down as the best post hardcore album of all time, and no one can change my opinion on that. This album was ahead of its time, and was such a shocker when it was dropped.

The way I describe this album is its a metalcore album intrsumentally, but it just has Jonny craig vocals. A lot of people say the instrumental is the weakest point. They tried a lot of weird shit. The self title one is the better Jonny album imo. Everything sounds like its written around him type shit yk?

Idk if people are saying this to trigger me, it's for sure more "screamo" or alt. rock+post-hardcore. There aren't any pinch harmonics or pedal tones (AILD/Trivium/ATR/Death), and way too many chord voicings.

They were in a really weird transition cause they were going from very heavy with the last vocalist mostly doing screams and then they got more experimental with the instrumentals and then went straight to clean vocals. All and all I love the album honestly. Not for the average listener. Go check out their first EP if you want the heavy stuff. The original vocalist is now in Like moths To Flames
