RELATIONSHIPS: love what is - Byron Katie

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

Byron Katie, founder of The Work, has one job: to teach people how to end their own suffering. As she guides people through the powerful process of inquiry she calls The Work, they find that their stressful beliefs-about life, other people, or themselves-radically shift and their lives are changed forever. Based on Byron Katie's direct experience of how suffering is created and ended, The Work is an astonishingly simple process, accessible to people of all ages and backgrounds, and requires nothing more than a pen, paper, and an open mind.
Through this process, anyone can learn to trace unhappiness to its source and deal with it there. Katie (as everyone calls her) not only shows us that all the problems in the world originate in our thinking: she gives us the tool to open our minds and set ourselves free.

    This is how I understand what Byron is saying: "No man is your enemy, no man is your friend, every man is your teacher." Become impersonal and learn what each man has to teach you, and soon you will learn your lessons and be free. We've gotten caught up in what we believe about what the other does or doesn't do, but that is only identifying with the ego, it is duality and opposition which offers no gifts to you. That way keeps you suffering and in bondage. Once you learn and practice to go within every single time you feel a tinge, pang or negative trigger you too can experience what Byron is talking about. Doing it that way offers the greatest gifts of all.... FREEDOM! It is a beautiful thing!

    @Pumanawa Healing Sending love to you. Perhaps try doing a Judge Your Neighbor Worksheet on that thought. Might reveal a lot to you and even give you a chance to set yourself free. Reason I reach out is because it only takes one to have peace according to byron katie. And I've personally witnessed this myself. Hope peace comes to you too.

    This is the only thing I disagree with her on. I belive that people can really meet and understand the same, not a 100%, but there can be authentic, honest and real connection. I wonder where we (humans) can go - if we combine Byrin katies work, with John Demartini method, The giraff language and Circling.. There are som manny great thinkers - what if we combined some of their methods? =) Excited.

    BK is the REAL thing. She has the highest level of understanding about reality. What one may perceive as her lacking in understanding or explaining something is just that to the egoic mind there's gotta to be more answers. Think of Forrest Gump or Peter Sellers character in Being There. Joy is our natural state of being, out crazy ego is just a genius at disguising it from us. God bless all on your journeys to wholeness. R

    This is a good interview, but BK always says the same thing. She just reels the bit about connection and friendly universe over and over. Lilou asked two interesting questions on sensitivity and the subconscious mind - and BK couldn't answer, either. Disappointing.

  • @carmenl163

    @carmenl163

    I agree that BK is repeating a lot and always out to 'sell' the Work, she seems very focused on that. But I found she did answer those 2 questions, the sensitivity is about projecting your story on someone else's words and she talked about a way to make the subconscious more conscious. But I must say I didn't really understood the question Lilou was asking about the subconscious. I liked the previous interview of Lilou and BK better.

    If Katy says (to her husband) that he is cold and uncaring I actually can believe that in the turnaround she will end up with saying to herself ' I'm cold and uncaring', as she teaches that she only deals with her own mind and not with the other person (22:29). Doesn't she want something from him too to do/give, isn't there a too big emphasize on your own capability of dealing (and having a relationship) with only your own mind and not with other real persons of flesh and blood. Or is this only my lack of holiness? Can she really have a relation with her husband if she teaches that actually one could only have a relation with her mind.....or is he also just an imagination (36:15)?

    In the last ten yrs, I've seen BK (gimme a Whopper w/cheese!) twice, both times on the free Friday night show where she sells her lucrative weekend package for God knows how much. Both times she spoke for a few minutes, then threw it open for questions. I'm pretty intuitive, folks, and I'll bet you a dollar that the first person she chose, each time, to ask a question was a plant, and the questions were agreed upon in advance. And holy toledo, the place turned into a victim's gallery just like that! Went on for hours! With all the dough she rakes in, BK is surely one of the 1%. (Love you, Lilou! There's no doubt you're for real).

    Richie B BK's method is simple, but don't underestimate it! And the "victims" are the ones that most benefit from the Work. I use it myself and it works, like a few others do too, both from conservative methods as alternative/spiritual. I blend it together and have found a few things that I really Love. We're all different. I can't tell if it is true what you observe, for you it most obviously is so. I do hope this observation really promotes your happiness and wellbeing! If not, search for something better ;-) Have a beautiful day Richie!

    Therese Rene she doesnt say accept it. In this video she explains it’s unnecessary to react or teach them, and it shows the other person who is physically hurt who not to live with. She says I’m not gonna live with that person but that person was believing his thoughts so he did that. It does not mean I have to be with this person, it is just unnecessary to suffer!

    I just can't listen to BK at all since I've heard her, more than once, tell victims of sexual abuse that they didn't love their abuser enough. Isn't that victim blaming? Doesn't she push people into denial that way? And let's say someone hears this advice. If they later decide to abuse another, can't they just say if the other person didn't like it that they were just not loving enough? A little help here please. (So why post here? you might ask. I like this channel and was listening to another interview. That interview finished and automatically went to the next one--this one. I get the heebee geebies when BK comes up.) TY
