Rekluse Tech Tip - How to Diagnose Auto Clutch Drag

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

For motorcycles equipped with a Rekluse auto clutch, the clutch’s engagement point is determined by engine idle RPM and the EXP spring selection. After confirming correct Free Play Gain according to your installation guide, these two items should be checked to address auto clutch drag.

Great explanation only thing I find weird in any of these videos is the 1/8” everyone states but it’s more like 1/2” to 3/4” of play

I've only got two rides on a Rekluse on my CR500 but it has been awesome. No longer fear hitting the rear brake too hard and can concentrate on turning rather than managing the clutch in ruts.

Excellent video that helped me resolve an issue I was having with my Radius CX which was dragging. Ended up moving increasing the set gap and swapped out the springs to the all Silver springs. Works perfect now.

Good clear explanation. I figured there was something wrong with mine as when it's hot it feels like the engine is hunting but it's the rekluse pulsing. I don't like it but at least I know what it is now 😃

Great video but your idea of an 1/8 inch is wrong. When you adjusted it to where you said it wasn't enough gain you were close to an 1/8 inch. Where you said it was correct it was probably around a half inch.

Is the inner clutch on a z start pro suppose to sit flush inside the basket? And when I say flush I’m saying or asking does the inner clutch sit all the way back on the inner basket. I’m having a problem where it sticks out from the basket just a little bit and I’m not able to get any clearance between the top most friction plate and the pressure plate causing the clutch to not disengage.

My bike pulls me forward while just sitting on it to the point where you can't start or stop it gear without stalling. So I probably just need heavier springs and adjust free play.

I have the Core EXP 3.0 installed on my 2013 KTM 350 XC-F. After setting the free play (1/8 in) and with 3 red and 3 blue springs, it is still pulling when in gear. RPM is around ~2200. Tried lowering the RPM, but still drag. Should I upgrade to all 6 blue springs? Any advice or tipes would be appreciated.

How long (hours of use) will the clutch plates work before being replaced? Any signs of when it would be time to put in new clutch plates?

Thanks for your question. The exact interval for clutch maintenance will vary based on several factors such as riding style and conditions. Here is a link where you can find more information on when it's time to perform clutch maintenance for auto clutches; however, many of the same concepts carry over to our manual clutches. If you have any questions, please contact customerservice@rekluse.com or give us a call at (208) 426-0659. blog.rekluse.com/how-to-properly-maintain-your-rekluse-auto-clutch

We see alot of how to set up FPG, but what about how the clutch should behave when we pull the lever in? I am having issues getting the clutch to disengage when I pull the lever in. I have to pull it almost all the way to the bar for full disengagement. It's risky when riding.

I think I have an odd presentation. It appears that I have more free play gain (lever moves more than the 1/8-1/4") but with bike on stand and put in first gear the wheel is turning fast with loads of drag. Even if I pull the clutch in the rear wheel is hauling and I cant hold it with my hand to stop it.

  • @bboydawgy

Adjust your free play gain to the correct amount first. If you put any bike with a rekluse on a stand with the properly set FPG, the rear wheel will spin. As long as it’s not pulling you away with the wheel on the ground, you have the correct amount of FPG

What is free play gain is good. Dosnt "walk away" but bucks just a tiny bit. But it very hard to find neutral now. Is this a common issue? I've got a 2020 yfz450r with rekluse radius cx.

My 06 YZ bucks in gear clutch out also. No problems with neutral though. i've not tried to solve it, the behavior changes with trans temps too. Mostly i just put it in neutral or pull the clutch if its annoying, in gear and riding is perfect though.

I had one on my 1090R for only 8000 km...most of which was a big trip to Yukon and about 500k of more hard core offroad (KTM rally in Vernon, BC). Near the end of me using it, the clutch would stick "on" meaning I could not pull the clutch in to disengage it. Caused a few crashed on the trails. No one could give me an answer as to how this was happening. I was sent some new teflon pads but that made no difference. Had to remove it and now it sits in a box...a huge waste of money. Any input as to how to solve this issue would be appreciated.
