    These games were fantastic, and Marshall and Paul put on a clinic with their commentary. I was on the edge of my seat the entire time, and couldn’t help but share in their excitement. It’s great to be back to paper magic!

    What a match ! When both players can win from scratch in a single turn, we're in for a nail biter. Loved to see all the clutch interactions from both side. Boy that was amazing.

    This was the moment Reid deserved to become champion. Such calmness and composure with decisive answers really made the difference. That attack at 1:30:00 won him the match.

    Hullbreaker horror can send it back on Nathan's hand while it is still on the stack. Hexproof only works if the permanent is in play. You can counter hexproof creatures

    while you can counter creatures with hexproof Sphinx of the final world explicitly says it cant be countered. The difference here is that it wasn't countered just send back to hand while on stack

    @@garagavia I think everyone who’s ever played against it understands what’s going on since they have plenty of time to watch it while the other guy is playing solitaire. It’s just an unbelievably tedious deck to play against which is unfortunately numerous. How field of the dead is still banned but they are ok with this less interactive, more boring, more resilient and generally more powerful land is dumb as rocks.

    Remember everyone, when playing Lotus Field make them play out their combo even if you can't stop it. If youre lucky, the match will go to time and you'll get a draw...and maybe the Lotus player won't make top8.

    there is a simple way to nerf a lot of these decks. add a 25 minute timer that runs down on each player during their turn. they run out of time, they lose

    nothing against the players but that was kind of boring magic..... very little interaction and mostly " 2 ships passing in the night" magic.

    i mean, lots of countermagic and boseiju shenanigans but that's just what combo decks do. I'd argue that a red deck pointing 7 burn spell at your face is no more interactive, and a white deck running you over on turn 4 with a god draw isn't either. Not all matchups can be midrange vs midrange. Also much rather this than control vs control snoozefest

    ​@@Skytho Games 3-5 were much better, but 1 and 2 were two players essentially playing solitaire. Give me a red deck vs a white deck over those two games any day, because at least those go quick.

    What do you mean, all matches were very entertaining, specially the sideboard mental games Reid played on Nathan! Very interesting decisions, the gameplay itself is just a fraction of the skills the players had to showcase during this match

    Remember when winning the pro tour was important? Now this is a glorified grand prix (Grand Prix was replaced my Magic Fest, which in turn was replaced by Magic Con), and WotC cared more about previewing new product than it did who won this event.
