I’ve always love watching Reid play, and it’s so great to see him win a pro tour. Humble as always. The man is the Keanu Reeves as magic.

Reid wins the pro tour finals in three games after all these years, and the first thing he says to his opponent is “sorry about the mulligans you had”. Reid is a stand up guy and more than deserved the win. GG

Yeah they were tripping all over themselves to give him props all weekend. 8-0 day 1, into this finish. With a 3 person team (2 of whom top8’d) they highlighted his keen familiarity with the format and reid’s deck. Reid won, but Benton impressed way more people this weekend. Benton mulling for the Gladecover Scout is correct. Creativity has a lot of interaction and a hand that looks "keepable" is actually useless because of how quickly it gets torn apart.
@mdrlolcat
Жыл бұрын
Yeah, we can see it in action game 1. On a mull to 5, he almost won and Reid was on the backfoot the whole time, and only won because he drew 3 copies of Fable. That "playable" 7 on game 2 would have been destroyed had he kept it.

Does this mean GP grinding is back with GP top 8s taking you to the PT? Is competitive magic as it used to be back?
This whole coverage team is the best in the biz! So glad that they all get to keep doing it.
So happy to see him win. One of the best content creators, right next to lsv, and so good to hear his thought process and admit mistakes when he rarely makes one. Love that he plays such good decks (elves, jund, grixis control back in the day)
Poor boogles, they always kill you with the mulligans in the finals, Reid lived this vs Shahar Shenhar in the Modern Finals agains a control deck, now he is in the other side, just awesome how incredible this game is
Wow! Cograts to Reid! Its been a long time watching him play and great for him to win Pro Tour in an anniversary year, it was a great achievement and exciting to watch! Awesome job Reid.
Long time Duke fan, I'm so happy for him! Damn he deserves it and did such a fantastic job from start to end.
Wow wow wow. So happy for him. Still remember watching Worlds back in the day. I cheered for him then, and have done so ever since. So so cool that it finally succeeded. Congratulations Reid!
This game felt somewhat poetic, with Reid winning a world championship using a combo/control deck vs. auras, Shenhar is smiling somewhere in the world.

that game 1 win even felt like that Worlds finals - Shahar stabilized with timely blocks from Snapcasters and Angels back then, Reid stabilized with Fable-tron here, and then a flurry of calculations, suddenly the tables turned with one combat phase. Gave me proper goosebumps.
Congrats to Mr. Reid Duke!! You worked for it. You wanted it. You deserve it sir.
Reid is my favourite pro next to Willy Jensen and he got me into playing jund and modern while also propelling me into competitive magic so proud of him
So glad to see Reid become the pro tour champion! Have absolutely loved watching Reid over the last 8 years that I’ve been watching coverage and have been rooting for this moment! Congrats man well deserved!
Amazing to see real paper magic again. Let’s goooooo!!!
i think there is always a big expectation for Duke to win, I mean he has been there before, but Benton did awesome, i think the current structure of the tournaments and how you can get to the pro-tour is more accessible now to those who are really wanting to be on the scene. Good job to both of them!!!!
congrats RD. a class act. well deserved and hard fought to get the title. Job done.
I really love to see - as a FaB player - how different people are playing this game. Two different playstyles and behaviours, 2 different people. Majestic.
I got emotional watching Reid win this ❤❤❤
Ahh Xenagos and Worldspine wurm, mainstays of my old Atla Palani commander deck! Congratulations!!!
Great to see the Pro tour back, and well deserved win by Reid! Wish it was a bit more focus from wotc on making this known so I would have been able to see it real-time instead of a week later.
You'll never beat paper magic. Love playing online but this is what its about. Congrats Reid you deserve it. Also congrats to Benton. 2nd at the Pro Tour is a monster achievement.
So glad to get back to in-person MTG!!!😍
I just found out the Pro Tour is back and ready to dive heavily into MTG again because of it! So happy to see that Reid finally got that 1st place finish, my favorite player alongside LSV!
So nice to see PT paper magic again
MTG Pro Tour is back, 💪 Let's Go !!!
Such a great match, awesome energy. Reid was in the zone the whole time, and after the triple fable blocker line stalled Bentons perfect mulligan hand in the first game that was when he could tell he might be having some problems. Props to him for being such a good sport. You know coming in 2nd is a bummer but even playing against a legend in the finals of the pro tour is a real accomplishment.
Gave me chills. So happy for the young man.
Congrats to the goat!! So glad to have paper magic back
This has to be one of the friendliest of pro tour finals, two really nice guys
Couldn’t happen to a more professional and humble man
Congrats on the Pro Tour Reid!!!!
Got to watch Reid play live about 3-4 years ago in Cincinnati. It was amazing. Great player. Even better human being.
So glad to see Marshall back in the booth.
SO HYPED FOR THE DUKE!!! PT CHAMP!
Congratulations Reid! Well deserved!
Congrats Duke, one of the uncrowned kings.
Congrats, Mr. Duke!
Reid just seen to be a nice Dude, loved to see him as the new Pro Tour Champion!!!
wish i saw this live, looked like a good time in all aspects
I met Reid once at a PT in Australia. I was alarmed he was so nice to me despite my randomly saying hello on a day he had real things to do, and surely 30,000 other people also introducing himself. Top tier human of magic.
Let us remember that reid started his top8 run by being down 0-2 in the quarterfinals. Way to grind back, Reid 🎉
I'm happy to see the pro tour back. Digital is never going to be the same.
Gotta love seeing Reid get it done, class act.
The people’s champion!!! A true class act. Congratulations brother👍🏻
Very good games. Great Finals ❗❗❗
Reid is a Master class player and a true professional. Well deserved
I'm glad Reid finally got it done. Good job, mate.
Reid is such a genuinely great guy, I’m very happy for him to finally get that PT win.
I played a list very similar to this at the PT, and that match reflects my experience there lol
Incredible moment.
Great play. Reid is the man
Great to see Reid win. Can we also give credit to Benton for his mulligans? I think he was completely correct in both games one and two with his mulligan decisions given what he knew, and it turns out that he absolutely was given what Reid actually had in hand. It takes guts to play something as all-in as Bogles and mulligan correctly like that.
That was an epic game despite that unfortunate game one! Reid duke killing it like always!!
Love pioneer, this was a great PT!
Glad Benton made it to the finals. He seems like a pretty cool dude. Hope he continues doing well.

Reid is my favorite mtg player, great job on getting the win 🏆 congrats!
The announcers are missing that All that glitters counts artifacts. AKA Skrelv. So the scout was a 13/13
When did they start doing pro tours again? And in person playing with real cards? Also is pioneer like the new standard in magic? I missed this so much
So glad we're back to tabletop.
Anyone know where I can get these dice?
Could someone please tell me how Reid’s combo deck works? I’m still a new mtg player so if someone could please tell me that would be great
it looks like it was control of the final in any moment . big up . top player
The way Reid looks at the trophy when shuffling. Man is a champion
You can tell how stoked Reid is to be in the final round, and well deserved too. I am happy for him big time!
When I came here to watch this. I was not expecting the “Marshall” announcer to be the Marshall from Wristwatch revival. IYKYK. Not sure how much crossover vintage watches and magic fans have but that was cool
Keanu finally got one. Genuinely happy for him. Cool deck too

Someone familiar with sleight of hand can certainly do that, or even see marked cards... A but fishy but I wouldn't assume cheating.
this match shows how professional and experienced Reid is.
Such a huge Reid Duke fan and so happy for him. Would it be too much to wish this win would’ve been with a Jund variation?? Can’t have it all I guess lol

I really wish they would start putting what format this finals is... Bc I'm kinda confused... Just put it somewhere on the screen
Way to go Reid! Congrats!
I wish this pro tour had been more advertised. Like a link to coverage on Arena/MTGO, I just saw nothing about this leading up to it or when it was running really.
Nobody deserves it more than reid in my opinion. I'm so happy it came together for him! He's always been my favorite professional player. :)
So happy to see Reid get the W.
