I play alto sax and the fact that the clarinet can go this high is insane to me. I'm in 8th grade and the highest note I've ever played is what you would call a super G (keep in mind that this is pitched in Eb, so this is pitched a full step below the highest C on the piano) and that note takes so much air that I've only ever hit it once and it snapped my reed in half. I still have the remnants.🎷

Just one thing, a "twelfth" is not an interval of "12 whole steps", rather of 12 DIATONIC SCALE STEPS which includes some whole steps & some half steps.

    Yes, 12 whole steps above a low E would be a clarion C not a B.

I didn't play past high school, but I could never play altissimo in tune. I could make sounds, but they weren't great. Perhaps part of the problem was that my repertoire rarely included pieces that went that high. I kinda miss playing clarinet, though.

Thank for the information. Only two points: 1. The "Clarion" doesn't mean trompet, that word cames from the Brightest sound of the register of an ancient trompet, it is the same for clarinet. 2. In the description you wrote in the low register E1-Bb2, I think that you maybe wanted to say E1-E2? I guess because the other sound are from the throat register, right?

Altissimo is not "pretty high". The term literally means "very high". Other than the mix up about 12ths this was very well done. Thanks for being clear and playing with a quality sound.
