Sorry I don't speak English. Thank you for the translation from Japan. I have seen commentaries on various clarinets, but this channel, this video was the most interesting.

Thank you for this video - so helpful! I moved to a B45 in high school and haven't expanded from there, 15 years later, but after watching this, I'm thinking it's time to branch out and explore a bit more.

Thanks for watching and commenting!:) just keep in mind that Ricardo Morales won the job at the metropolitan opera playing a B45. Also, that he has changed mouthpieces many times since then. All this to say, one can learn a lot from the feedback of changing equipment. It can be transformative - but the B45 (or many mouthpieces) can certainly unlock success. It could be you try something else, make changes in how you play (consciously or unconsciously) and return to the B45 and find that it is different than you remember (although you are the one that is different). In my mind, that’s the magic and fun of pursuing the clarinet.

Oh god, She's so much an emotional hit from my granddaughters and my perfect daughter and mother of two of my granddaughters that are perfect from birth... girl scouts et al and I'll argue against any diff. so you are protected from any opinion diff using her! Not Fair! : ) Only got to 1:24 before I had to comment, so I'll watch the rest and learn. Nice to know what I'm voicing with reed pitch is actually a note I'm reaching and not just an audial illusion. Thanks for your time

Is there a way to get from the overtone back to its base note without tonguing? I have a piece in band having to jump from the altissimo C# to clarion E in slur in quarter notes repeatedly, and I struggle to get the E quickly in place with good tone colour.

Good question! There is not really a way to do that. You will have to “sneak tongue” the E’s. The tone color will be ruined if you try and slur it. If you articulate gently enough it will sound like a slur
