I mean I had a boyfriend who was older than me by enough that for most of the year we were 13/14 and then for five months or so we were 13/15 and at 15, my boyfriend was 17 for a whopping 5 months. It wasn’t a big gap. We were at mostly the same phase in life, same grade thanks to some quirks in the local school system and him having moved around some and credit not transferring cleanly, but as your statement stands he’s a big ol’ perv🤷🏻‍♀️ My granddad left school to enlist and fight in Korea, came home after his tour and finished up school. In his senior year he met and started dating my gran, also a senior. She was 17, he 22 but they were at the same stage in life, shared a hobby (racecar driving-yes, really, gran was a badass) and they married and lived happily having a small herd of babies. It CAN be a bad dynamic, absolutely, but if you’re at the same stage in life, into the same stuff, and there’s not a gross power imbalance (gross as in large, not icky, although maybe also icky) then really it can be fine. That’s why so many places have Romeo and Juliet laws Edited bc I forgot they were called r&j laws and called them Cinderella laws🤦🏻‍♀️

@@nicolebaum3092 I think that depends on how old you are. If you’re 18 and they’re 22? Yeah. That’s too far. If you’re 28 and they’re 32? That’s less of an issue. If you’re 43 and they’re 39? I’d think that’d hardly be a blip on the radar. The thing is, the further on you go, the less it matters. When you’re just starting college and they’re working or in grad school? That’s two very different stages in life and can pull you in very different directions and can make relationships really difficult. If you’re grown, done with school, in the work force, working on the family thing, had a few relationships already, etc. then it’s not any big deal. It’s all about stages. If you’re in significantly different stages in life, there’s a serious power discrepancy and that’s not a healthy dynamic, mon ami!

There is a youtube bug that kept me from finding it again so here's the actual comment as it was meant to be read So I was 15 with a 16 year old boyfriend. He turned 17 before I turned 16. By like a month. That's not that weird, come on.. he was nice too. We were in physics club together. If he'd been 20, sure. Weird. But a year and one month apart? Come on. That's nothing even remotely near this weirdo we're watching.
