From a wildlife biologist: thank you! It is so important for people to understand why we need wet specimens and properly preserved dry specimens as well. The college I'm studying at as the worst collections ever! My current professor has collected 80% of the specimens we have due to the college not caring about wildlife biology. It is vital for people to understand why we collect specimens. So thank you!

As long as it's ethically sourced and passed away from natural causes (and lastly as long as it isn't an endangered and thus protected species), it's all fair game and alright. I personally really wish I had the means to make my runt of the litter kitten (who passed at 2 weeks old) a wet specimen. I think wet specimens are very beautiful! They're all one of a kind and just a fantastic way to preserve something that would've othervise just decomposed, of course, there's a certain beauty in that as well, circle of life and everything, but when it comes to reptiles and such, which are lovely pets, and well- even when not kept as pets, I think it's a beautiful memorial piece of their existense. I'm kinda bummed that I live in EU, and I don't know where I could maybe get something like this for myself. I love biology and pretty things, so, a wet specimen would definitely be a very treasured thing of mine.

Instead it can be used as a educational aid to help people grow an appreciation for the living members of the species. Such simple things are so effective and can be a real help for the long term preservation of a species Well done.
