In the men’s competition, it’s Mark Muse, a state trooper From Piscataway, New Jersey, against Jerry Hill, a salesman From San Antonio, Texas. In the women’s round, it’s Elizabeth Albright, an industrial relations specialist from Voorhees, New Jersey, vs. Ruth Morris, a U.S army administrative specialist From San Francisco, California.

Pyramid: Contenders have 45 seconds to reach the top of a pyramid, with two Gladiators blocking their path.
Breakthrough & Conquer: The contender must face two Gladiators in this two-part event. First, they need to score a touchdown against the first Gladiator. Then the contender must wrestle the second Gladiator, forcing them to step outside of a ring.
Atlasphere: The contenders and Gladiators battle in spherical metal cages. The contenders must stand on scoring pods while the Gladiators try to stop them.
Whiplash: The contender and Gladiator each hold one end of a double triangle apparatus, known as the “dog bone”. They must each attempt to have the other either let go of the “dog bone”, or exit the ring.
Hang Tough: The Gladiator and contender swing across hanging gymnastics rings, with the contender trying to make it to the opposite platform without the Gladiator forcing them off.
The Wall: The contenders attempt to scale a rock climbing wall, being chased by Gladiators.
Joust: The Gladiator and contender face off for 30 seconds on elevated platforms. They must knock each other off with pugil sticks.
The Eliminator: The Eliminator is an obstacle course spanning the arena, the winner of which advances to the next round of the competition.

Beginning in 1989 for 8 seasons, this competition swept America. Two men and two women compete against each other and a roster of "American Gladiators". Events included, The Assault, Joust, The Wall, Breakthrough and Conquer, Hang Tough, Powerball, and many others, all culminating in the final event, "The Eliminator", a difficult obstacle course race. Every season there is a tournament to determine its "Grand Champion". For two seasons, there was an "International" competition taped in England where the champions from 4-6 countries competed similarly.

In Whiplash, Sabre quickly learned from his mistake and demonstrated the famous term. Fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me.
Between the “Ask A Gladiator!” Fan Mail, and “30 Seconds With……”, I kinda like the interviews better, because you find out a lot more about the Gladiators, like Hawk(RIP). Though, I still missed the Gladiator Moment Clips.
Mark Muse and Jerry Hill were fantastic in the Conquer Portion of Breakthrough and Conquer, and the Wall. Also, Mark Muse was amazing in Whiplash, and the Men's Eliminator.
The first regulation competition ever without Powerball. Gotta say, the show feels naked without it. And after his segment in the previous episode, this was the first visual proof that I had for Turbo just turning heel starting this season. And we know it won't be the last.

@@Nitero_ see, I didn't like heel Turbo. He didn't NEED to be heel Turbo. He knew how to bang heads and take names, and though he was strictly "nice", he showed you all of his excitement, energy and respect without getting in your face about it or getting upset. Then season 5 happened and... eh...

She dominated atlasphere better than anyone I've seen. A natural at that one.
The audacity of Jerry Hill, to stand there and showboat in front of Hawk (who lost by his own error), after getting absolutely spiked by Turbo. Also that helmet flip by Turbo was ice-cold.

Most of the competitors know if they perform better than average with style, they may get a shot of becoming a Gladiator. The first set of auditions, some who came to apply for the competitor spot ended up being picked to be a Gladiator. Believe there was an audition of first overall group of producers choosing who gets to be Gladiators over competitors. But the chance of becoming a gladiator was always the main focus to win of majority of competitors. Believe Hill thought he got a chance by doing his showboating to hype the crowd's attention for PRODUCERS..

After watching the Breakthrough portion of Breakthrough and Conquer, it looked like Jerry Hill held onto Turbo's head after being driven out of bounds. No wonder Turbo was angry. A move like that could have caused a neck injury.

Idk. Turbo lifted him up and drove him up and to the ground OUT of bounds. You do that in football or rugby, rugby league you get penalized. Turbo is just as much at fault

@@Echothrax It was not as dangerous of a hit by Turbo as it looked. He didn't spike him down onto his back, neck, or head. His ass hit first, and he tolled to his back. However, Jerry holding onto his head and neck like that while he's trying to pull away when the game is already over is what pissed Turbo off.
Lol I love how the contestants are under 6ft and 200lbs going against men that clearly aren't.

That fight came close, but I thought that the gladiator could not move past the area between the goal line and the 5-yard line.

He can't initiate contact before the 5 yard line, but he is allowed to drive the contender back once they've crossed it.
Jerry Hill… in the case of young Tyreke… you are the father!!!!

Hawk is the most flaccid. Turbo tried to be more flaccid but nobody is more flaccid than Hawk.
turbo was the bully in highschool.. and middle school and elementary school.

Yup, that's the premise of the show, and why the showrunners always encouraged the sportsmanship that they did, because the contestants are almost always at size disadvantage and sometimes at a numbers disadvantage, depending on the event.

Damn, that fall Ruth took in the Eliminator was rough. Not only did she fall off of one cylinder and bounce off of the other, but it looked like she missed the floor mats entirely. Honestly, it's a good thing the contenders wear headgear so they don't crack their skulls.

Yeah, it looks like she missed pretty much everything, the pad you land on and the push pads held by the guy(s) underneath. It's lucky that she had a helmet on so that she didn't crack her head on what is likely a cement floor down there, but she definitely could have tweaked her neck or her back in the fall. So here's hoping for the best! Goddam that was a fall, one of the worst I ever saw on AG.
That was one crazy fall that Ruth Morris took off of that Spinning Cylinder. Hopefully, she’ll be back in the Tournament Brackets

How was that bad jerry hill had a hold of turbo's neck so turbo had every right to react that way
Crazy how a Contender named Mark Muse tried out for AG 2 times prior before the 3rd was the Charm. Wonder how he would’ve done in Season 3 or 4.

Probably not as well. Powerball he wasn't all that strong (2 goals in his only appearance), B&C and Atlasphere not that much either comparatively. Sky Track he wasn't too bad, and Swingshot he was OK. Of course, you also have to consider who he may have had to face, and also how much he may have improved physically in those two years, as we don't know if he made it through all 5 stations each time.
Turbo was the one with short fuse

One of the last times we'll ever see Atlasphere. If my memory serves me correct it only gets used about once every 3 or 4 episodes this season and then completely goes away at the end of it.

Jerry Hill not looking sportsmanlike AT ALL during Breakthrough and Conquer. I suppose he didn’t enjoy getting smashed by Turbo and decided to showboat after Hawk lost on his own in Conquer.
