In the women’s competition, it’s Tiziana Sorge, a photojournalist from Rome, Italy, vs. Dr. Christine Lydon, a clinical researcher from Venice, California. In the men’s round, it’s Captain Richard McCormick, a U.S. Marine from Portland, Oregon, against Dylan Bruno, an environmental engineer from Milford, Connecticut.

Pyramid: Contenders have 45 seconds to reach the top of a pyramid, with two Gladiators blocking their path.
Hang Tough: The Gladiator and contender swing across hanging gymnastics rings, with the contender trying to make it to the opposite platform without the Gladiator forcing them off.
Whiplash: The contender and Gladiator each hold one end of a double triangle apparatus, known as the “dog bone”. They must each attempt to have the other either let go of the “dog bone”, or exit the ring.
The Wall: The contenders attempt to scale a rock climbing wall, being chased by Gladiators.
Powerball: Contenders try to score points by depositing balls into baskets and avoid being tackled by three Gladiators.
Tug-O-War: The Gladiator and contender face off in a tug-of-war while standing on tilting platforms.
Joust: The Gladiator and contender face off for 30 seconds on elevated platforms. They must knock each other off with pugil sticks.
The Eliminator: The Eliminator is an obstacle course spanning the arena, the winner of which advances to the next round of the competition.

Welcome to the official channel of American Gladiators, home of patriotic spandex and giant cotton swabs.
Beginning in 1989 for 8 seasons, this competition swept America. Two men and two women compete against each other and a roster of "American Gladiators". Events included, The Assault, Joust, The Wall, Breakthrough and Conquer, Hang Tough, Powerball, and many others, all culminating in the final event, "The Eliminator", a difficult obstacle course race. Every season there is a tournament to determine its "Grand Champion". For two seasons, there was an "International" competition taped in England where the champions from 4-6 countries competed similarly.

27:45 That’s probably the quickest I’ve seen a gladiator win Tug-O-War. Siren was truly the queen of that event
How could you not love, Turbo and Hawk? Both encompass the spirit of competition, but, also show compassion and admiration for the competitors. That’s what it’s all about! R.I.P Hawk.
Damn son, I remember watching this as a kid with my parents and wishing I got to do all those challenges and courses lol. I still do.
thanks for putting this show on here. let's hope it gets another renewal. america could use a show like this right now. men, women, black, white, latino, asian and everything else i'm missing-- all competing for athletic glory.

You might get your wish. MGM and the WWE have been developing a revival series as of a couple of years ago. There's renewed interest in the property thanks to two competing documentaries about the show.

This was a short season. I think they knew it was the last season. It didn't feel like a complete tournament!
at minute 23:20 that announcer just UNLOADED some childhood trauma!

The Eliminator in both the Men's and Women's Semi Finals on American Gladiators were awesome.
Warning- The gladiators and contestants are highly trained athletes and have a lifetime of experience, but they are not invincible. Bodies have been broken, necks broken, concussions inflicted, and careers ended in an instant. Although it is entertainment, the hazards are real, and the contestants and gladiators take real risks, endure unimaginable pain, and put their bodies, their careers, and their lives on the line. Don't risk yours! Be Smart! Be Safe! PLEASE DON'T TRY THIS AT HOME, SCHOOL OR ANYWHERE ELSE!!!
