Reel to Reel analogue level tests for recording from computer

Музыка

Test tones to set level on an analogue tape reel to reel machine recording from computer output. Conversion to video has taken maximum signal down 3 to 4dB. Other than the second recurrence of 0dB which it's taken down 3dB below max other than the final glitch of that tone which remains at maximum, it seems faithful to all the lower dynamic range. Probably setting the recorder 0dB for the first 440Hz tone will give good results.
00:00 440Hz Standard orchestral "A" -7dB (Mangled to -9dB) Set your recorder at 0dB on this tone in the first instance and that will probably achieve a good recording.
00:05 1000Hz 0db - set at +3 to +9db on Tape machine - maximum without distorting. Probably around +6 dB (Mangled to -4dB)
00:10 -6dB - possibly around 0dB on Tape machine (Mangled to -8dB)
00:15 -7dB (Mangled to -7dB)
00:20 -3dB (Mangled to -6dB)
00:24 0dB glitch (Mangled to -3dB)
00:25 -6dB (Mangled to -8dB)
00:30 -10dB (Mangled to -12dB)
00:35 -12dB (Mangled to -15dB)

It appears that my video encoder sets -3dB as maximum so bear this in mind. It may be common to all sound sources on KZread videos.
