This is video 18 in an introductory course on epistemology, the philosophy of knowledge. In this video, we start our discussion of testimony, looking first at reductionist views which hold that we can only trust testimony if we have non-testimonial reasons to do so.

    Thanks so much for sharing your work! I really appreciate the course. What are your thoughts on Helen Longino’s concept of transformative interrogation as a criteria demarcating better epistemic practices like science from lesser ones like pseudoscience? Also, can you recommend good sources on social epistemology? (I’m not a philosopher but social psychologist)
