Reduce Hunger Pains During Intermittent Fasting! [WHAT TO DRINK] · Dr. Jason Fung Clip

Ғылым және технология

When it comes to intermittent fasting, the most common question from beginners who struggle with the hunger is: “What can you drink during your fast?"
A fasting purist would answer with nothing but water. A more relaxed faster may point you to a cup of black coffee, tea, or bone broth.
Let's face it: Intermittent fasting can be tough...especially for a newbie!
What can one drink to help get them through a fast without "breaking" it?
In this podcast clip, Dr. Jason Fung details why he believes green tea & ketone esters could be the most effective "fasting hack".
Here's a quote from Dr. Fung on green tea:
"Green tea catechins...you have a natural substance that people have been using for thousands of years that increases your metabolic rate and lowers your hunger. That's what people tell us all the time: They drink green tea and then their hunger sort of goes away."

Two months ago I fasted for 19 days after acute pancreatitis. Went from 193 to 167 and after two months I’ve only gained back 3 pounds. My stomach shrunk and I eat 1/2 of what I used to and the weight is still slowly but surly coming back off (about 1/2 pound a week). Thank you Dr. Fung for changing my life.

Exactly. Fasting not only creates calorie deficit, but it resets your hormones (like insulin, glucagon and leptin) and lowers the thermostat in your body - which prevents you from gaining much fat or weight again.

One of the best positives of IF is that it does make you more mindful of what you are eating. I’ve always eaten vegetables, fruits and meats. But, the more greens and other vegetables and fruits I eat now, along with IF, the less food I want. I am fuller on much less now.

@Golden Calf I thought the same thing but actually it will speed it up. The fasting will force your body to use up the stored fat uv had for years. It regenerates cells and it re programs your body. I've loaned 5 lbs already and I'm only doing 5 pm to 9 am. I'm going to switch it up though becse the body is smart, it will adapt, then u have to switch it up. I've ate garbage for years, I'm a big girl and I'm tired of it. I workout nd I make homemade smoothies with fruits, kale, spinach and chia seeds. I feel great!!!!! I am determined and fasting is also about discipline, doctors and pharmaceutical companies make tons of money on people with high blood pressure and diabetes!! My blood pressure was high and I was gettg kankles!! My bp was 190/ 86 and sometimes 190/ 90 now its 116/68!! We dont need to eat 3 times a day. I refuse to be obese any longer!! Ijs, I ve watched countless testimonies and different doctors on youtube and I'm telling u, I've seen the light!! My goal is 100 lbs or maybe 75. I dont want to look.sick becse I am hippy lololol Just read up on it and u will c. Insulin levels play a big part as well. They have food that spike it, that's what slows ur metabolism. Fasting will force your metabolism to use your storage! God bless, sorry I wrote so much but I thought just like you. Fasting has been around for thousands of years, even Jesus fasted, I know I can do it!

I took my blood sugars after my fast and before my meal and it was almost perfect! I had been afraid after listening to all the scare mongering that it would be sky high or hell low. I had 4 pieces of cod cooked in my Power Dry-Fryer. I had some green tea later on! Oh yeah! I had a good bowl movement. I felt great! @will edwards yes you do. I’m a medical student. I thought similarly to you at one point before studying medicine. It’s very complex and takes years to fully understand. It’s not as simple as “get off medicine”... That’s how you kill people. Really. And medicine has been demonized way too much as of recently. It has been and will be because of medicine and new medical innovations that our human life expectancies increase. Now, if the person is no longer sick to the extent that they no longer need medication, then they should slowly get off the med under medical supervision. Will you tell a type one diabetic to stop taking insulin? No. Why? Because it’ll kill them. Before meds were available for them, many of them couldn’t live to even see 10. Quit the bs.

I think the way I started and ended each fast was key. I drink apple cider vinegar, baking soda, and lemon juice and that does the trick. Remember, body fat + your breath literally creates metabolic water when you’re dry fasting. So hydration isn’t necessarily an issue for people with plenty of fat reserves available while dry fasting. Obviously you can only do it for so long before you have to drink some water, but I still think everyone should experience it!

2016 Nobel prize in medicine ........Simon points out that cells switch on autophagy in response to starvation. Calorie restriction, such as intermittent fasting in the 5:2 diet or during Ramadan, may help us to live long and healthy lives. It is possible that reducing our calorie intake to 70% of what we have been used to eating will boost our autophagy and help to prevent a wide range of disease. Exercise also promotes more autophagy, as experiments that get mice to run on mini treadmills has shown. Advice to feast on fruit, veg and red wine is hardly new. But thanks to this year’s Nobel prize-winner, our understanding of the science that underpins it is developing all the time. The next step will be drugs, supplements and interventions that could stave off the ravages of ageing and a host of debilitating diseases. We are not there yet, but we are one step closer.

My question is DOES GREEN TEA INTERFERE WITH 'STEM CELLS' IN A FAST? I am skinny and I understand it helps autophagy, but I cannot find whether it helps stem cells. My main reason for fasting prolonged is to heal injuries. I've read things that 'caffeine' may interfere with stem cells, but it's not clear. Most everything about green tea sounds positive, yet some people like Longo and Patrick suggest that it interferes. Anyways I love green tea. Just want to get the most out of the fast. Not drinking it makes it 2X harder I think. I'll pour off the first cup sometimes to decaf a bit so they say.
