@@SarahRenaeClark I LOVE KZread's advice that UK English needs translating. How classic? 🤣 I think UK had a bit of a head start on USA English, although Australian is still slightly corrupted English. America is bigger and better even in terms of English and English needs translating into American 🤔🤓. I think I will leave it at that. Love to know your thoughts on this matter. Anyway KZread passed on bugging me with this "correction" so I guess it won this round 🤣.

This Ursula definitely gives me "fun aunt/family friend" vibes. The one that the kids love to hang out with and hear stories from, but can still make them brush their teeth or clean up their dishes. The adults have fun talking with her, but some of her stories make them go "Ursula what did you do this week?"

Y'know what, in the movie Ursula turns people beautiful or into their desired self but at a huge cost, but perhaps uncorrupted Ursula makes people as beautiful as they are within, so she grants people with pure hearts but undesirable features to match with their inside self, like maybe making Quasimodo handsome because of his pure and innocent nature, and then cursing a narcissistic person to become a frog or snake. She could maybe even grant Beast (Beauty and the Beast) his original prince form after seeing him change his ways

I own a few adult colouring books, including some Disney princess ones and a nightmare before Christmas one. Definitely not a fan of the excessive patterns and ‘negative’ images (black backgrounds). I notice that Disney is the only one that seems to do this, especially the black! I really love patterns like, when the outline/full picture is an animal, but when you zoom in/focus on the details the animal is made out of plants! These "I'm playing around with Paint for the first time and discovered pre-made patterns that I can fill in the gaps with" thing? Not so much. 100% agree about the patterns! I was so excited about the villain book, but it was so disappointing to open it up and find those images. I wish there was one with just basic line work. That said, have you ever tried something like Mr. Super Clear on coloring pages? A lot of doll artists use it to help their pencils, pastels, and paints stick and to let them build up more layers. It might be an option for this. It would also be really cool if you did a video where you compared different products to see what gave the best results when it comes to prepping pages for coloring.

There needs to be an AU where Ursula, while disguised as Vanessa, actually started falling for someone like Grimbsly. Kinda like how Anastasia changed when she fell in love with the baker in "Cinderella III". So, Ursula eventually understood Ariel's mindset and decided chasing her own love would be better than being bitter about the triton and ruling the sea. This would totally be her legitimate humam-form after they were married. She'd probably even act as a grandmotherly figure to Melody. That'd be adorable, lol.

Honestly, I got the equivalent of the first book in Disneyland Paris and I'm very pleased with it! Maybe because I'm not an artist, a simple colouring book would end up looking too plain. I never shade or add anything else, so it would be me going up and down with the ciel pencil for 10 minutes until Cinderella's dress gets done. On the other hand I have fun picking colours and working on the massive patterns on these pictures' backgrounds and clothes! The repetitiveness speaks to me!

Ursula went from shark loaning a mermaid to being a great aunt lawyer who finds loopholes and workarounds 🤩 Her design makes her seem like the conflict between her and Ariel would be some too-unattainable rule-bending that even Ursula can't negotiate, or a very honest misunderstanding that turns into a kind of lesson for Ariel to really work on her communication?

I think for adults, they aim for a zentangle type of feel, and that's why they use the patterns. Usually for fabrics, the patterns ARE supposed to go with the dimensions of the fabric, but I think its fine for a coloring book. Some anime and CN's Chowder uses flat patterns for detailed fabrics. However, I would have to say that having that many small spaces to color for adults is not the most feasible because not all adults have steady hands.

Ursula is my favorite Villianess because of her very iconic looks and characteristics so this was a fun thing to see and I think you made her look like she was still up to something but one would trust her easily. The colors were fun and seeing you experiment and work through struggles to accomplish and learn more is always very inspirational. I hate patterns like that in coloring books and it would keep me from buying it. It is not a good look since they are just slapped in as an extra layer and not given much thought as most of them don't even fit the characters.

Yes, a series of videos. It is fun literally "colouring" the world good. This was a great video. I started worrying when you were whiting out the lines, then you answered my question: "but doesn't this fail? Or at least have a copy incase". I still thought a copy would be a good idea. Now that I think about it, you could make the whiteout page and then photo copy into good paper. That way you do not have to worry about missing gaps in the gesso process, not wait for it to dry. Beautiful transformation! Would I trust her to babysit, no, but I would not trust a Disney princess to babysit either for fear of daydreaming about the prince they are going to marry happily ever after 🤔 🤓. I started watching this video when it came out and forgot I had to stop. I am happy that I scrolled through my history and discovered the error of my ways 🤣. I had a slight change in schedule so I am a little less busy now, but will get hectic soon again. So absence makes my heart grow fonder or my fingers itchy for colouring and my need for your humiliation when you inevitably make mistakes stronger 🤣😎. I love you and your channel so this comment is not serious, just a little fun at your expense 🤔🙃. Have a great day and keep creating incredible art and great content.

This re-imagined version of Ursula reminds me of that lady that had a huge crush on human Jaq in Cinderella 2 lol. Anyway, we really need more of this uncorrupted art. Something very light in a world where most prefer dark is actually refreshing and wonderful.

I would not have thought that you would be able to make Ursula look semi-friendly! Good job! I think if you had done the clear gesso, before using the fine liners, you might have had better luck with it not ruining your pens. Might be something to try next time?

I agree with you about the patterns. That’s why I don’t overwhelm them in my coloring book illustrations, and like you said they need to be shaped with the fabric, not a easy pattern repeat setting in Photoshop or something. Plus most pattern things just make me dizzy or freak out my astigmatism. There isn’ the focus point. I prefer the “simple” illustrations of a Disney book. I still have a bunch from when I was a kid.

Have not tried it yet but I am look looking forward giving it a try one day.

I’ll say that the villains colouring book looks more like a black and white art book as opposed to something you’re supposed to colour in. Also, what you managed to do with Ursula was AMAZING! She looks SO good!!

I have a Disney Villains book similar to that; it has a different cover but a lot of the images are the same or similar. I like the patterns for the backgrounds as I've never been good at thinking of ideas for backgrounds, but I don't like it when there is patterning on the characters themselves. Despite that, I am still enjoying colouring in the book and I've always been pleased with the results in the end. The main thing that bothers me about the book is a combination of the tight binding and the pictures covering the entire page. The binding means that the pages won't lie flat, which can be anything from mildly annoying to extremely handicapping. The drawings themselves go inside the folds of the binding, so your can't reach areas or end up getting marker on the previous page by trying to slide the nib underneath the fold (thus creating bleed through on my previous work).

Only a minute in and I totally agree with ya! The villain coloring book, I know is for adults but come on man, it is SO intricate, and detailed. As you flipped through I saw Yzma and Kronk, those are my “favorite” villains! Love that you are using Chloe’s paint brushes ❤ You redeemed Ursula! She looks wonderful, although I agree with you and Shane, I would not let her watch MY grandkids 😅😂 Yet again you have done a WONDERFUL job. Thanks for sharing!! Can’t wait for my Color Cubes to arrive, so excited!!❤ I have had Arteza (48) they are good, Staedtler Ergo Soft (24) not as crazy about these because I’ve had to sharpen them a lot, and of course Crayola colored pencils (seems like 500 but they are mostly duplicates) I’ve grown up coloring with these but thanks to you I know now that they don’t always get into the tooth of the paper and I know I can use a blending stick to blend them better, but I recently got Prismacolor Technique (24) because that was all Walmart had. So excited to try them!! Have a wonderful day!😊

1000000% love this so much, but I'm so sad you didn't lean into the underwater vibes of the Little Mermaid! You could have had some of the water lilies, bubbles, still have it set in an ocean type theme. You definitely did what you set out to do by uncorrupting her though, and I think it's fantastic.

Ursula cosplaying as Mrs. Pots! XD I can’t unsee it now. Thanks so much for the art lessons as well! :D I love both yours and the creepy makeovers of coloring books. And I hate most adult coloring books because they aren’t as simple and done right as a coloring book should be. Why have all these black markings? Unless it’s a based on nocturnal breeds of bats.. no thank you. I like coloring the entire page sometimes. Well mostly, empty patterns and the ugly amounts of pages that have the characters heads randomly put all over the page is not my cup of tea either. Lol

  • @ProudPlatypus

Adult colouring is obviously about developing a wrist/hand injury. I don't mind more detailed colouring books, but them just throwing on these overly detailed, tiny, patterns onto an otherwise normal colouring page is a bit... tacky?

  • @richraymond5037

@@ProudPlatypus absolutely agree. The Disney Illusions ones do it reasonably well, surprises you with the image that comes out as you colour the sections. Though the general colouring books are over the top. I’d even say the Thomas Kincaid ones have too many lines in, they don’t always make sense in some cases as it’s a line for where a shadow sits.
