Redesigning Thomas Youtuber Thumbnails
Lmao, thumbnails am I right?
Ah, thumbnails. The 'face' of a video. On a site like youtube, an eye catching thumbnail is incredibly important in actually getting people to give your videos a watch. This is sort of the inaugural video (expect technically not really) in a not-regular series where I go over certain parts of the video making process. Today, I'm gonna teach you how to make thumbnails...or at least how I personally go about making them!

I clicked on the video because of your community post and I don’t even remember clicking on the video so that shows how good the thumbnail was

Much love, I liked how mine turned out!
What a goddamn pleasure to be in this video. And a good job in general! I definitely got a heads up for future thumbnails!
Yo it’s so great to see my footage in your style of thumbnail! I love it
Great video dude, I take my time working on my thumbnails and a good thumbnail definitely helps people to understand your content. And someone told me that your Title should be a reflection of your thumbnail 👍
Aayyy my thumbnail for “The Wandering Coach” made an appearance 😁 This video is definitely helpful
Around 2020 or so I started to see a lot of crazily great thumbnails in Thomas videos and the editing in all of them is just mind blowing to me. Thanks for making this video, I bet this will help a lot of people!
I actually really liked this video, it has honestly given me some insight for my thumbnails and how i can improve. One thing that is slightly troubling me however is that in "Spark Note" that Thumbnail completely ignores what you said about the time thing in the bottom right corner and how you shouldn't put anything there. Don't get me wrong, the thumbnail looks great but it kinda looks as though you've ignored that when you decided to recreate it. Anyway, that's my only gripe but other than that this was a really goo video and has changed my opinions on you from the steamy awards (no offense but we all know how much of a yk, controversial disaster that was) With all that said, great video man, you've got a nack for video and picture editing for sure
thank you so much. This was a great help. I’ve always struggled with making thumbnails myself and this was a great help.
This helped so much . Thank you for working hard on this video and putting out for us :) much appreciated 🙌🔥
I find the intro or sponsorship part of the video really funny and creative
Glad to spin your head again with this 😂 Thumbnails are a mixed thing to tackle in my view. On one hand - as you said in the video - it’s the face of the video (like packaging of a product almost) & on the other, if the thumbnail doesn’t match the visual style of the video, it can come across as misleading. Text is a funny case as well. Clickbait can be dangerous, but it’s aim is to ultimately get more people to click on the video because they want context, I.E, why that choice was made. It also largely depends on the genre/contents within the video itself. Like in my case, ‘ERTL Decal Speedrun’ - which is an example of the timebox fucking you over - & ‘Cab Details Sketchup’ are both technically timelapses, & so don’t require a huge amount of effort for the thumbnail. On the other side of the same coin, tutorials can either fall into or differ from this talking point. For decals, I did one going over the full process of how I go about making them, & while that video has timelapses in it, its more of a how to rather than a show & tell sort of tutorial. Thumbnails are criminally under appreciated I think - & by extension quality control in what we as creators make - & it was very fun to see your approaches to mine & everyone else’s thumbnails here.
This video is Gold, good work!!
Keep up the great work and creativety.
Thanks mate! This video helped a lot!
This inspired me to change the thumbnail of one of my videos, which previously had text covered by the runtime label.
I love how he pronounced Kaikki like "kackee"
Thanks for teaching me about thumbnails.
What do you think could be like photoshop, but ok iOS? Because my thumbnails are terrible and I don’t know how to do it better. Edit: after watching longer I realised I can use Adobe
What microphone do you use?
It would be cool to have a "Who did it better?" on Mike's Whistle, comparing the original Railway Series story, the model series version "Faulty Whistles" and the CGi version.

Suuuuuuuuure! It's time for another round of Play, Don't Pause's Plentiful Pail of Pointers. With your host, Play, Don't Paaaaaaaaaaause! (Bare with me, I've been watching way too many episodes of the Price is Right.) Right, so first thing's first. When writing a video of ANY shape or size, you need to be thinking about what visuals you're going to put to your audio. When you say a thing, you want to be able to show that thing on screen. This is very important, as it helps keep the viewer engaged. If this were a podcast, it would be a different story, but for a review...say a thing, show a thing. Next...know your limit. A classic Thomas episode is 4:30 long on the dot. And while I HAVE seen people find success in making a video that doubles, triples, or even quadruples that time (for instance, Luke with his All at Sea video), you want to keep your points snappy. Don't try to get everything across as quickly as possible, but keep your points concise, and efficient. You don't have to say the same thing in difference ways just to get your message across, and if you find yourself struggling to put video to audio, it's alright to take out unnecessary bits. The last big thing I'd say about this is to make it your own. Find something original to make your video stand out, either in the presentation, the visuals, the way you go about breaking things down. Make it yours. Hopefully all that helps!
Great video! But the opening is confusing. What does the big engines going on strike have to do with Kaikki!? I need an explanation

Cock & ball torture - C.B.T. - is an act where you find a cock & play ball, which is pretty much animal cruelty as you’re essentially just throwing either a large or hard round ball at a poor animal
